St. Paddys day MADNESS well. Have been dreaming about the hype that is Paddys day in the heart and soul of Ireland for a long time and after having finally done it... WOW Green, green, green and more guinness!! Flew out to dublin Friday midday ( groslly overestimating the time in which i need to be at the aiport before, so had a fun 4 hours to kill) but made a friend on the plane ( who of course is from Townsville in Australia!!) Went out Friday afternoon to do some tourist jazz to not feel like i entirely boozed my way through ireland. Saw the Guinness Brewery and beautiful St. Patricks Cathedral!! Friday night in true abbey style had a bit too big a night celbrating in the authentic Irish pubs, should have been in ... read more

Just back in Dublin after spending the weekend in Tipp. Went to the Hunt ball on Saturday. Went for a hill walk Sunday, despite being on the sauce for 12 hours the night before! Met the lads who were building the downhill trek on Jills folks hill. Looks great, cant wait to break my neck going down it. They expect a 2 min down hill run, lots of massive jumps and a few near vertical drops at the end....Up at 6.30 am to get the early bus back to Dublin. Stinker! Only one more week left until our flight...Flying 7.5 hours to Dubai then a 4 hour layover :( then off to Delhi. Have to get the last of our shots this Wednesday..Graduation is on this Saturday, so all go!... read more

La finale Dernier jour...!  Wow! Les roux vont me manquer! Ahaha! C'est vrai qu'il y en a plus par ici! Mais j'aime bien les roux alors...! ;-) ahaha !

Dublin is a beautiful city that has blossomed with the advent of the Celtic Tiger. Vibrant and cosmopolitan, it's a fantastic place to sight see, eat, drink, shop, drink, soak up the culture, drink, eat, drink, tour, drink, see the Guinness Brewery, see the Jameson Distillery, people watch, drink, and just generally have a good time, and drink. We were fortunate enough to be in Dublin during the 3 days in 2011 that it didn't rain, and some blue sky was actually visible. Great museums, galleries, churches, historical sites, pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops, and people. Unfortunately, Ireland is going through some tough economic times, as is the rest of the world, but as history has shown, the Irish are a resilient people, and this is just one more crisis that will be overcome. We rented a ... read more

Woke around 9 am, I really wanted to sleep in today after the night out with the french but i guess that's not happening. Headed out to get some food and took the tour bus around the city again. Saw the Jamison whiskey place, Guinness making place. A few pretty churches and that's about it. Weather was rainy most of the the day so headed back into the hostel and hung out with people. I have to pack up to get everything ready for tomorrow. I'm heading to Ennis to work for a week at Rowan Tree Hostel. In exchange for work I get a free place to stay. Should be fun. ... read more

3 am....woke up to a two people busting through our room, yelling curse words, looking for a friend. Ha, obviously they were a tad intoxicated, they left the lights on and then ran out. Not to sure what was going on, I was still half asleep and just ignored and fell asleep again. 7 am....woke up to a girl nudging me on the shoulder asking me to turn to my side or something since I was snoring. I mean I felt bad that I might have worked her up, but it is a hostel ha, so you might want to get some ear plugs or something. (more on this later) I finally woke up a little after that and I went to get a Hop On Off tour ticket to travel Dublin. Circled some of the ... read more

Now the adventure begins..all alone. But im sure ill meet plenty of people on the way of this 6 to 12 month journey. Arrived in Dublin at 830 pm on a Friday night at the Bunkhouse Hostel. I was exhausted from a long days travel so I just set up my top bunk and got a skype unlimited account with a Texas phone number and called friends all night. It was a good way to end the day with hearing some voices from home. ... read more

Dublin. We arrived at Dublin Central Train Station just after 3pm and decided to be cheap and walk to our hotel. A surprisingly easy 30 minute walk later, we were checking in to our hotel which is a few miles from the city centre. We checked in and made our way to floor six to unpack all of our belongings. After this was all sorted Sarah and I made our way into the city to have dinner. We found a great little place called Mona Lisa, which specialises in Italian cuisine. It was probably one of the best meals we had eaten in a long time! After our massive dinner we walked the 10 city blocks back to our hotel only stopping to get more credit for the internet stick. Once getting back to the hotel ... read more

Yesterday I crossed the city and passed by The Clock Bar in the picture. I asked my sister what was the nature of the packing on the side of the street. It turned out some enterprising individual was selling discount toilet paper by the metric ton. So the native can nip in for his pint of Guinness during the day and arrive home with red cheeks and a dozen toilet rolls to please the bride - only in Dublin. One of my friends here Paul Egan insists I tell the golfers amongst you that we went to Padraig Harringtons golf course at Stackstown for 9 holes and I got a par on the par 5, 7th using only irons. Being of modest disposition on an off the golf course I have to add it was not ... read more
