Well, it was a few days anyways :) So the week after London was a complete blurr to me. I slept the entire first day after and I think I was just "off" the whole week. I finally got back to normal towards the end of the week and we decided to take a little “day trip” on Saturday…aka Single Awareness Day. We went to Cobh aka Queenstown aka Cove to check out where Titanic made its last stop. It was a cute little town but hardly anything was open. They had some pretty colored houses though (pictures are up on flickr!) and we had a somewhat cloudy day, so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it as much. On the way back, we were told that there was a cool animal park with cheetahs and ... read more

So these entries are about two different events over the past two weeks! The first is The Super bowl. Now normally i'm not really into American football but with being friends with so many American's it was inevitable that I ended up in a pub in Limerick watching the game and "jumping on the bandwagon" so to speak. It was a really great night! The game wasn't on until 11:30pm here and didn't end until 3:30am and by the end I was practically falling asleep on the table but it was well worth it! The pub (the only one we knew of showing the game) was packed for the game. A lot of the American students from UL but also quite a bit of Irish people a well. The Irish American Football team from UL was ... read more

This weekend I came to Ireland to visit Tanya. We had a lot of fun. Here are some highlights. The first night we went out to a pub (i forget what it was called...) and then on the way back we decided to go to this fast food resturant called Hillbillies. They serve fried chicken there, and I need to point out that I don't think that either Tanya or I enjoy fried chicken. haha. But we ate like savages in that resturant. There were four of us (Tanya and I and her two flatmates Kathryn and Gina) and we ordered a family bucket. There was a lot of food. It could probably feed like eight people, but we ate it all. We were burning our fingers on the chicken it was so hot, and we ... read more

To be honest, it’s been so long since I updated that I don’t even know what to write (I bought a Journal though so this won’t happen anymore!)! So the Monday after we got back from Dublin, I had a little “date” at the cinema to see Role Models. It was pretty funny, but not as good as I expected. Tuesday we didn’t do anything since we were still recouping from Dublin. Wednesday night we went out with the intention of participating in “Band-a-oke” aka Karaoke in front of a LIVE band! However, we got there too late and had too large of a group for the bouncers to “let it slide” that we were under 21 (some of the pubs are 21 and over to keep out the college drunks). I basically told the bouncer ... read more

I am sooooooooo sick! Ugh. I say “as a stray dog” because there are so many roaming the streets of Ireland! Apparently Irish dog owners do not like neutering their pups? Therefore, lots of dogs with no homes :( They might put in a law soon that you MUST neuter your dog. I want to take all of them in cause it’s so sad! Anyway, I have whatever Irish virus is going around right now. I mean, it was inevitable considering I was out late, adjusting to the time difference, and being exposed to every single person in every one of my classes coughing? Yuck. But now I’m one of them. I couldn’t sleep Monday night because I was coughing waaay too much. It was awful but now I’m just super congested so when I eat ... read more

Alright, lots of updating to do so bear with me! On Monday I had my first Irish Traditional Music class and we got to listen to various harps and fiddles which really got me into the Irish spirit. Our lecturer also played a little jig for us on the Irish Whistle (I believe that is what it’s called) and I just wanted to jump up and start dancing…except for the fact that I have no idea how to step dance or anything like that! For that class I only have two essays that are 1000 words each. One of them is based on a “session” vs. a concert. A session occurs at a pub and is very relaxed and just a bunch of people playing the same tune on various instruments. She told us this pub ... read more

Our first time traveling to another place in Ireland was County Cork. It was the first time we got to see the countryside outside the city and the sheep! (my fave). We got into Cork late Thursday and just checked into our hostel and went to sleep. On Friday we went into Blarney which is a cute little town and checked out Blarney Castle. It is actually really tiny compared to other castles we have been to. The grounds were really pretty and they had a little nature walk with legends about witches. The pictures kind of explain, but there were some wishing steps that said if you walked up and down then with your eyes closed the witch would grant you a wish. She lived in a cave at the top of the hill which ... read more

So where did I leave off? Oh yes, Thursday night wasn’t anything too exciting. The four of us finally did some hardcore grocery shopping. I got some pasta, pre-made Hawaiian pizza, chicken, Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie (7 Euro but totally worth it!), butter, jam, bread, turkey, cheese, tea and honey (for my sore throat, of course!)...it was quite successful! We planned on taking the bus back since it is a pretty long walk with such heavy bags (that’s what I get for getting a huge bag of potatoes!) but the bus was taking too long so we took a taxi instead and figured it would be cheaper. It was probably only one euro cheaper but I honestly think it depends on the driver you get because I’ve heard people of getting all different rates ... read more

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! I just got here, yet I feel like I’ve been here for sooo long. I’m finally starting to get over the homesickness. I mean I do miss all of you but at the same time I’m so busy I almost don’t have time to think about it! I hate that it is so much of a pain to call home though :( Anyway, well Monday we had orientation pretty much all day. I was still so extremely tired and jet lagged and just wanted to go back to sleep the entire day. I couldn’t figure out the shower so I had no hot water and just felt gross all day. We got a “Sketchy” tour of the campus from Mark after orientation and it was pretty funny. That night the ... read more
