During the week nothing happened. I was just studying, studying and studying. Becaus I had an exam from my home university on Friday. Sadly it was strange and not very good, also for my friends in germany, so I'm quite sure to do it again in summer. But the main part is that it is over now and I had to make party now. On Friday I was on the Meet-Your-Mentor-Party in West Balkan. I better blog nothing here. Also if you want to know how it was, write me personally. But it was a nice weekend Magda and her flatmate visited me and on Saturday she cooked Pasta for us. Later we went with a lot of students from Debrecen to any Pub. But not to long because we had to get up before 7 ... read more

We stayed at the Red Bus hostel in Pest, right next to the Redlight district, but it was a really nice residential area just off the main shopping road. The hostel also owned an English bookstore in Central Budapest where we stocked up on books at bargain prices! On our first day we wandered out of our hostel towards Heroes Square, which is lined with huge statues and monuments. The square backs onto the main city Park, which is huge and holds a lake, and open air ice-skating rink and Pest Castle. The castle is beautiful, like something out of a fairytale with towers and cobbled courtyards. It also has a moat surrounding it where we sat on deckchairs soaking up the amazing sunshine! From there we wandered down Andrassy Avenue, the UNESCO protected main street ... read more

First week is over now. Tonight was the first day, I slept longer than 5 hours. And solely because I went home after the flaty party and not to the disco. But until my exam on Friday I'll be calm. Here you can go out every day and there is always a Party anywhere. You are already forced. Recently I was invited for dinner and wanted to go home then for studying. But no, I was'nt allowed cause of the first flat party I was. But the parties always start very late. Normally no one goes out before 23pm. You first meet at someones place, maybe go to another flat and then go to the party. And in discos you stay until the next morning. The hungarians drive very crazy. Even in the supermarkted they drive ... read more

Now I have a flat too. I share it with two girls: Conchi from the canarian islands, Teneriffa (spain) and Kristy from Wisconsin (USA). It's very closed to the BME university, about 5 min. per foot and very good connected to the public transports. It takes me about 10 - 15 min to the center even though I'm on the Buda site. The flat is very nice as you can see on the photos and I have a quite big room. So do not hesitate to contact me, if you wanna come and visit me. There's always a accomodation.... read more

Technically we got screwed before we got to Budapest but didn't find out about it until we got there. More on this in a few. The train ride from Vienna to Budapest is about 3 hours and thanks to the audio book we have been listening to on most of these trips..Wildfire (18 hours of great story telling! Thanks to Mama J!!) the ride was a breeze. We were spending 4 days in Budapest and made the very smart decision to travel. The second we stepped out of the hotel we were approached by several people asking 1. If we needed a hotel, 2. If we needed help, 3. If we needed to exchange our money.. hmm.. I think I'd save the exchange of the money thing at a bank not with some random dood on ... read more

Midnight Arrival! We arrived in Budapest around midnight and much to our English friend's consternation we had not booked a hostel and in fact were not sure where we would stay! He hurriedly wrote his phone number on a piece of paper with the offer of two couches at his place if we were stuck. Such is the kindness of strangers you meet along the way! Buda and Pest Budapest with a population of two million is located on both sides of the Danube River and in fact is made up of two cities. Buda, on the west bank, is hilly and more residential. It accounts for about one third of the city and is more classy. Pest, on the east bank, is mainly flat and most of the city's public buildings are found there. We ... read more

Now I am here since almost 5 days. Yesterday I visited a flat. It's very nice. I hope I can get it, but must talk with the owner today. The hungarian people are very friendly, especially the younger ones. On Monday I was in the nightbus, locked on my map where to get out - because there are some traffic problems of the metro lot - and the women next to me asked if she could help me. Coincidentally she lives in the same street. So I had no problems to find home. But the problem appeared when I saw my hotel: It was closed, no one on the reception. I phoned my room-mates, but their mobile phone was on silent. Shit. I found a bell where to ring, but no one came. Then I phoned ... read more

Yesterday I have arrived in Budapest at about 15pm. Trip was OK, the IC was quite new. Was also enough space too store our voluminous luggage. I was the first who has arrived in the hotel. Then just went running. Share my room now with an italian and turkish guy - but he is not like Engine :-( Thank your for your nice greetings. I miss you too. Today was the day of waitings: the whole morning I spent with registration. After a short introducion from the Erasmus-Coordinator we went to the registration office and it took about 2 hours. They are quite slowly here. Then we must buy our tram ticket. When we finally found a ticket shop, there was a huge line bevor and we also had to wait. But now the main part ... read more

So.
