Hello all from the people in the shitty camping.... Well it is the big man for tonight doing the blog and so here I go. As Robyn was saying yesterday, our campground is defently not what we were expecting. In fact it is a pice of crap and we really don't want to be there at all........ The cabins are hot, with out the wind blowing through them at all, and dirty. Last night we decided to to the time honored solution to the problem and get drunk off cheap wine, out of tetra packs no less. It worked wonderfuly well and by the time we had finished off the wine it was about 3 in the morning..... gee, time seems to fly when drinking cheap wine =) So we ended up sleeping till about noon ... read more

Hello to one and all, It is day two of our Mykonos excursion, and the place is still beautiful. I just have to get a little rant out of the way first. I'm sad to report that our campground is NOTHING like the amazing ones in Italy, not in the slightest. We are paying 40 euros a night for a dirty, shitty beach cabin with no A/C, its a little brutal. However it is on a cliff right near the beach, so that is really nice. I just beg to ask the question, would you prefer a view or a good nights sleep... Its a bit tough to swallow seeing as we paid 30 euros in santorini for a room with kitchenette, balcony, ensuite, A/C.... ouch. This aside, Mykonos is still beautiful, however those coming here, ... read more

Ladies and gentlemen, the wine here is so good. I'm in love. I am especially fond of the house white wines, I havn't had a bad one yet! My new favourite meal is a big Gyro pita with lots of tzatiki (sp) sauce and a half litre of wine. Ohhhh it makes me all happy inside and out. Its crazy cause a glass of the house white is normally like 1-2 euros, but you can get a half litre of the house white for like 3-5 euros... So that begs the question stated in my title. Why have one glass when you could have 3, be so happy, and have such a better value?! Ohh I love Greek logic! So today we are in Mykonos. We were supposed to be here yesterday, but the winds here ... read more

Island Hopping I'm in Mykonos, one of the Greek islands. If I tried, I wouldn't even be able to describe how beautiful this place is. What I'm at right now is the Contiki Resort on the islands, so as all the people here are my age, there's TONS of bronzed young beautiful people walking around. Haha. I am not one of the bronzed ones, but I'm surprisingly not burnt to a crisp! I've been lathering up on the lotion! My tour is great, and the people are all nice and friendly. There's actually only one guy in our group of 25, not including the male tour manager (Ben, from Australia). We're off to Santorini, another island, tomorrow. Not sure what time we leave, but hopefully not too early!! Since I've come to Mykonos, I've managed to ... read more

6/10-6/16 We arrived on the Greek island of Samos by ferry from Turkey and it may as well have been a different planet. Coming from a land where girls must cover up from head to toe to a land that encourages nude beaches, it is quite the culture shock. We had just one day in Samos, explored a nearby beach and the quiet downtown area. It seemed to be sufficient time there. We took a ferry to Mykonos later that evening which was supposed to be overnight and arrive around 6am. However we were woken from our restful slumber around 3:30 and told we must hurry and get off the boat otherwise we would miss our stop. After a full panic and race through the giant ferry and out the docking bay, we soon found ourselves ... read more

Megan checking in. After a rough night for some, a very small group of us raced to catch the boat to the uninhabited island of Delos. Delos is Europe's oldest archaeological site...and its stunning. We will upload photos as soon as we can because I am sure I won't be able to do it justice. Nothing but greek ruins all over the island and the highlight being a huge trek to the peak, where tourists pay homage to the greek gods by stacking rocks on top of eachother. It was very cool, with original frescoes and mosaics all over the place. The boatride was super choppy and a group of french tourists kept making jokes that this was it, and that we were all going over the edge. The french have funny senses of humor. We ... read more

Hello! Melissa here again just thought we would update you on our Mykonos adventures! Our ferry arrived and we checked into the beautiful Petinos hotel on Petinos beach and grabbed our suits and headed for the sand! Swimming for some, reading for others, mostly enjoying the view and getting a tan through our spf 30 to 45 sunscreen! After the sunset we headed into Mykonos town to some local dance clubs and taverns. The nightlife here doesn't really start until midnight but we enjoyed the quit time as Monday was a Greek holiday so many of the locals took a 4 day weekend in Mykonos. We met lots of new friends all over the world and danced the night away. Monday morning we got on a cute little boat and headed to Paradise Beach where turns ... read more

We arrived in Athens to hot weather and bustling streets. Went to the Acropolis (an ancient theatre and temples). Three of us agree, not worth the money. Woke up early to catch a ferry to Mykonos. It is a sparse island with white and blue buildings- pretty much the stereotypical restaurant at home. Ryan and I found our 'cabin' but choose to upgrade to a room. The 'cabin' is maybe a bit bigger than a closet. Beach is beautiful with crystal clear water and a reef with fish and coral which you can walk over and dive into the Aegean sea. Staying here for a holiday from our holiday. Tans are getting dark and the suns really highlighting Megs hair- Ive gone back to my natural colour. hehe... read more

Mykonos has a lot of tourist but is still a lot of fun. It is so beautiful it is no wonder a lot of tourist come here. Today we rented a little moter bike and explored the rest of the island. From Turkey, I took a 2 hr ferry to Samos, Greece, spent the day walking around the town and then boarded a ferry to Mykonos. Known as the party island and gay man's haven, it was the starting point of my kick back, time to relax and get a tan portion of my trip. I met Sarah, from London, on my ferry and we ended up staying at the same hotel and hung out for the next couple days. Rented scooters and toured the beaches of the island. Mykonos - I loved it. Wish I stayed longer now. But if it was high season, I'm quite positive I would hate being there. Great beaches. Cute little streets. If you want to know what a mouse feels like in a maze, walk through the streets of Mykonos. ... read more
