David, Katherine, and I went to Idar-Oberstein this evening. It's a good place to go people-watching. When I went on Monday, I saw a man wearing leder-hosen for the first time since I've been in Germany. This evening we saw four German soldiers walking down the street side by side eating ice cream cones. That would have been a great picture, but I'm too shy to snap pictures of random people. When Katherine gets hungry, we have to eat right away, so we ended up eating dinner at a fast food place rather than a restaurant. Even so, it was very expensive (about 20 dollars). I guess the German lady was asking us if we wanted everything super-sized, but we didn't know it, and we nodded our heads. We ended up with tons of fries. Even ... read more

Today we visited the Baumholder Museum. (Baumholder is a small town/village in Rheinland Pfalz.) The exhibits were all in German, but the lady who showed us around was very nice and spoke pretty good English. I’m not sure that I understood everything correctly and there are gaps in my knowledge, but still, the history is interesting. This area was first inhabited 2,000 years ago. The Romans had a road that went from Trier to Mainz, and this was a good trading point. The south sides of the hills get warm sunshine and there were wells where people could get water, so it was a good place to start a town. In 1500 some Duke decided it would be good to build a wall around the village and he told the people of Baumholder to do it. ... read more

Well guys i am in Munich now. So far Germany seems really cool....the food and the beer are so good. In fact there isn,t really too many sites here...just alot of statues and beer halls. In case it,s pouring rain right now so i,ll be inside chillin at the beer hall for a while. Later in the day the rain cleared up however and I had a great time sitting in a beer garden watching a Bavarian band. Then at nite I went on a brewery tour that lasted into the early hours were we ended up at some club with a rock band playing Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park covers. And the crowd was a good 200 strong rockin out. ... read more

Hey there! How are you? Just thought i would ask, I have had such a great weekend it is so cool!, Samstag, (saturday) we all went to Münster, and saw an awsome museum, about how they used to live back when, way, way back when. Then we went to a cathedral and it was the most breathtaking extroinary thing that i have ever seen. We all enjoyed it verry much and thanks to frau, we knew what people went through to make that one worshiping center. Then came the one part that the majority of the group liked best, Shopping for whatever we wanted! Some went to stores, some went to Eis creme, but i had a fun time. Although the day started off rough, Frau knows what i mean, it all came to a great ... read more
