Wow, I was doing so good keeping up until now. I'm sitting in Greece trying to remember what happened last weekend. What we have found out so far about sleepers: Johnny and David are early risers. Mariah wakes up kinda early, depending on whether she has had a bad night. Terry (that be me) is iffy. Although I am cheerful when I awake, no matter the time (unlike some people in our little group). Wilson is the sleepy one ... although if Lee was given a chance, he could probably run a close race with Wil. (So Wil and family, if I have misspelled the shortcut of Wilson with too many or too little ll's, I apologize). I'm now on to one l. Tdom Bah never sleeps. Jackie wakes up early too. About food: Tdom Bah ... read more

zoooooooom.... that's pretty much Raphaela skiing summed up in one 'word' put put put.. zzooom.. snnooowww spray...ssmmaasssshhh.. put put put.. and that's me skiing summed up in too many words. hehe yep water is fantastic, especially when it's in its frozen state! Raphaela and I embarked on a wild weekend with 'generation snow' friday afternoon at 4.30 after a mad rush of packing, forgetting various things and repacking, calling Bene for directions to the place where we had to meet the group (only 10 minutes away but we were both clue less as to how to get there), calling Bene again for directions on how to use the navigation device.. hahaha.. poor Bene sadly had to remain in Regensburg and probably thought to himself, 'these ladies are hopeless!' hellloo! firstly, sorry that my travel pace isn't allowing me to keep up to date with happenings. secondly, i just deleted this entry and am attempting a stubborn re write.. how evil are computers! I'm back in Kötzersricht with my family and sleeping off the lag of a wild week (feels like 2) of roaming through Germany, into Czech Republic and France! Once again i realise how tiny Europe is in comparison to the massive Australia.. one can drive to France in an hour to be misunderstood and misunderstand the people living on the other side of the invisible border. A quick review; Prague splendid blend of baroque, gothick and art nouveau architecture as rich with stories and legends of the time of creation, as detail and originality. the argentinian body guards: sociologist and architect, victims ... read more

hello from a beautiful snow covered Regensburg! I arrived back in Deutschland last night after 2 days in Prague and am now staying in Raphaela's rooftop apartment which is built into the gate that guards the famous 'steinerne brücke'. Studious Ela has taken herself and a heap of books to the library (sadly she has an exam to write on monday) and so freezing sonja decided to take herself indoors and infront of the computer for some updating. I was staying with my family in Kötzersricht for most of last week, except tuesday- (New Years Eve where Ela, Bene and I drove the 1 hour to Regensburg and celebrated the arrival of a new year.), and Friday (when Ela, some of her school friends and I enjoyed some of the night life in Amberg (my birth ... read more

It's just before midday in a frosty Amberg. I'm sitting opposite a concentrated Raphaela while she crams details of Public Law at her dining room table. Outside a beautiful winter's day is unfolding. The weather the last few days has been spectacular: frost on the grass and on the remaining leaves of bushes and trees, clearest of clear skies, a low lying sun to create that perfect winter lighting.. just gorgeous. Unfortunately the icy winter gail doesn't allow for lengthy periods outside unless you're power walking. Since most of my walks have been with Oma or cousins' kiddlets the pace has determined a very thick coating of winter apparel. So, when the australian girl leaves the house she must apply layer and layer (not of sunscreen this time) of clothing items.. my double coating of beanies ... read more

Ah, hello everyone. today is another lovely German morning. It is a nice 78 degrees out. I hear back in santa rosa it is at least 107. No thank you.. I have been busy touring the German countryside. Barbara has shown me to several different little and large German villages. I am going to sit down with her today and write them all downin my journal, but for now you are just going to have to accept that they will remain nameless in this entry. yesterday I went to a grand old castle, almost more than a thousand years old. We went to this castle not just for architetures sake. Inside the castle was home to some to at least a hundred different birds of prey. Babs had taken me to see the falconers. It was ... read more

Hi everyone!! Finaly I have foudn some time to write for you all!! Now it is just a matter of where to start. So many things can happen in just three days, in my journal I wrote at least nineteen pages, and I honestly have not done much here yet! So where to start. I guess the gbegenning sounds good enough to me! The plane flight was a bit exciting, it started off rough and didn't let off the entire time. When my mother and father dropped me off at the airport they dropped me off at the international terminals... So I sat there for a while, then I got this reallz bad feeling that I was in the wrong place (this feeling saved me from having to book a new flight several times!!) So I ... read more

Not a bad town, copped a lot less damage than other towns in WW2. Went out to Walhalla as well, and had dinner at a beer garden with a local couch surfer and some of his friends watching Germany in the soccer. Didnt care about the soccer but the food and beer were good... read more

I decided to ride up the river for 30-40 kms to visit Weltenburg, which has the world's oldest monastic brewery founded in 1058 and an over the top Baroque decorated church dated 1716. It is set on a remote, somewhat inaccessable part of the river with high limestone cliffs and forest on either side. I cycled along the river on extremely well maintained paths along with other cyclists and the odd rollerblader- some of whom are in their middle to late age. It is still strange for me to see older people cycling everywhere. I headed to Kelheim which is the point where the Danube becomes really navigatable. I took the boat to Weltenburg to see the high narrow limestone sides of the river, rather than ride over the hill. It was Sunday and the crowds ... read more
