Today I went on an excursion with the school into the Alps. They were even more beautiful than I thought they would be. At 9:15am we got on the train for Garmisch, a town right next to the Alps. Unfortunately, there was construction on the tracks so after an hour on the train we had to get off, catch a bus to the next train station, then take a train from there the rest of the way. But we made it. We started by going through a gorge called Partnachklamm that led right to the foot of Alps. The gorge was breath taking. We walked along the side of the gorge on a small ledge. Beautiful blue water rushed through the gorge below and we went through several caves. As soon as you get to the ... read more

Man did I sleep well. Its 7:30 and I’m up rolling out of bed and heading for the bathroom. Everyone’s asleep and I’m going to get up shower and have a nice quite breakfast. Woo, Hoo I love these Germany baths there the size of a phone both for midgets. I’m finishing my shower when the door flies open; Hey I’m in here, as Heady walks into the bathroom. She screams, I’m hollering STOP!!!!!!!. Well my quite morning just went south. I’m out of the bath and downstairs trying to not make eye contact with either Bill or Hedi. The Inn Keeper meets at the bottom of the steps asking in his broken English “VIS EWERYSHING OK”? I respond Ya Ya Ya…. As I make my way to the breakfast table he’s following me “VHATS DER ... read more

We had a week off of school, so my friend Deanna and I decided to take a mini European vacation. We traveled to Garmisch- Partenkirchen, Germany, Munich, Germany, Innsbruck, Austria, and Salzburg, Austria. First Garmisch: After a very long day of travel we rolled into the cold sleepy town of Garmisch- Partenkirchen, Germany. Deanna’s boyfriend’s parents are retired and live in Garmisch. We spent the majority of the trip staying with them. It was very late when we arrived, but even in the dark I could tell this was a town straight out of a fairy tale. Everything had a fresh layer of snow covering it. Deanna told me to look out the window, and even though everything was dark, I could just see the outline of the Alps. Garmisch is a town that is nestled ... read more

When you're in Garmisch, the most impressive mountain top you can see is Zugspitze. I didn't know that this is the tallest mountain in Germany, and that the other side of it is actually in Austria. Even without knowing these facts, Zugspitze looks beautiful and scary at the same time, and why I decided to climb up there, I don't really know, but it was a good decision. Of course, I was terrified half of the time going up and as well as down and while I was trying to casually stroll there, but the sights, the mountains I've seen from there, that magnificent view, was worth it. Once again, I highly recommend it, even to "chickens" like myself, even if you're not going there to ski, like me again, it's something you can't see anywhere ... read more

Mooo….. clang clang clang Mooooo….. Kirsten sat up straight in bed, it was 5:30 AM, did I tell you it was AM. The cows are back, they are back. Huh, The cows are back, I’m so excited, What time is it? Its @#&%@@@ 5:30 AM. When I woke up for the second time, Kirsten was standing at the window and watching the cows. She had already taken her shower and was dressed. She looked at me and asked what are you waiting on let’s go. I got up grumbling and headed toward the shower. Soon I was dressed and ready for breakfast. We headed up to the breakfast area and selected a table on the terrace. The sky was clear and we had a perfect view of the Zugspitze. We could see a very faint view ... read more

We woke with the sun shining through our window. We both slept very hard. We packed our stuff logged onto the computer and updated the BLOG and checked on the flights leaving Zurich. They didn’t look good, I told Kirsten it was ok for her to go and I would follow on the next available flight. Her response cannot be entered into the blog. Basically, she said we would travel together. After putting everything into the car, we went to have breakfast. Lara our hostess was sadder than we were about leaving. She loves Kirsten and wants her to stay and help her with her running the B&B. Kirsten was rolling around the idea until I popped that bubble and said Mandy, Will, Mark & Caroline need you more. By the way breakfast was delicious. As ... read more

Today is Friday -- first chance to get on to Blog. Battery is low, so this may be short, but will get to more soon. Everything is going well -- today pretty strenuous, but saw Neuschwanstein, my prirmay destination, and also the splendiferous, tho "small" Linderhof castle, both built for/by King Ludwig. Am drinking a Konig Ludwig Dunkel (dark beer) that I got at the local grocery store (for a 6=pack less than twice what bars charge for one).... read more
