We could have parked up for the night at the Bamboo gardens but they seemed to be filling up rather quickly which might have made getting out difficult. They were on the slant which meant getting the ramps out which is a pain as you get older or sleeping on the slant . In the end we drove back to Anduze with the intentions of parking on the flat railway station free parking spot . It was not the most salubrious of camping spots but unlike the gardens it was flat . We could fill up with water for 2 euros or have electricity instead and dump our grey water and empty our toilet . It was also within walking distance of the town with its boulangeries and we hoped decent restaurant . On our first ... read more

Have you any idea how many types of bamboo there are ? Me neither . I was bamboozled with the numbers . There must be rather a lot or why would have a Bamboo garden? . A garden dedicated to nothing more than bamboo. A garden which is a solid green most of the time. We had spotted the Bambouseraie de Prafrance a private botanical garden in Anduze when we were looking for something different to see and do. 84 acres of garden specialising in bamboo. Only opening in the warmer months we were lucky to be able to visit when we arrived at Anduze for a few days . We had a few minutes ago parked up outside a campsite handy for the gardens . A campsite which the ACSI book stated had been open ... read more

When we woke the rain had stopped and last night’s storm had pretty well dried up. This is a pretty campsite, plenty of trees but not too much cover and the leaves have started to change colour and come down and the storm certainly helped the autumnal progress. We arrived at the station in Anduze, via scooter of course, in plenty of time for our train as we had no idea how big it was and how many passengers there might be. Quite a rush as the station doors opened at 10.30. We bought our return tickets (€15 each) and waited on the platform for the train to arrive at 11.10. Slight bedlam for a while as 200+ people climbed on board and tried to find good seats in their preferred compartments. We sat near the ... read more

Quite sad to be leaving our lovely spot on the Cote D’Azur as we’ve had a really good 4 days here. Made a note of our pitch number 36 in case we return sometime as it was an excellent fit for Tandy giving us good access to the back left door to get the scooter in and out which can sometimes be a problem. It rained a little in the night. Not a lot but enough to dampen all the towels I’d left out and then retrieved at 1am when the rain on the roof woke me. It made it nice and fresh when we got up in the morning, packed everything up and got on our way. Glad it wasn’t guite as bright and sunny as it has been or it would have made it ... read more

We wanted to be more in the 'real' France rather than the tourist areas and we arrived at a recommended campsite in Anduze which is a ribbon campsite alongside the River Gardon in the Cevennes. We were not sure about the 'real' France as once again we were surrounded by Dutch, no longer the "grey hairs" but by families, as a third of Holland is now on holiday. We were soon back in our 'catastrophes' and a lack of communication between us broke the caravan's high rear light on a tree branch, this time on the opposite side, so another €9 down the drain. Tuesday evening was their night market which is unfortunately, just the day market by night. We walked and walked up narrow streets full of stalls selling the usual wares. There was a ... read more
