As I begin to write about our third European Adventure we are at home packing our bags, checking our documents, making sure we have everything covered. We depart from Toronto on Thursday, September 26 at 10:15 on Air Transat #488 bound for CDG Paris. We hope to arrive there at approximately 11:40 local time and head into the city via train to find our apartment at 75 Boulevard du Montparnasse, on the left bank. We are in Paris until Tuesday October 1 when we will depart by train to Beaune, France in the heart of the Burgundy wine region. We will spend three nights there where we will pick up our rental car and head out on Friday, October 4 for Annecy, France which is called the "Venice of France". We are hoping to travel into ... read more

Our trip has come together. First, we discovered that we had enough points through our credit card company to pay for the airline tickets AND a car rental. Then, we found Larry through trustedhousesitters.com...he arrived yesterday, and so far, he and the dogs like each other. Bill has magnificently gotten household things organized...and our laptop loaded so that either of us can continue to work, as needed!! I've got thread and fabric to stitch if the scenery gets boring!! (as if...) We have written letters to our first two hosts: in Paris we will be with friends with whom we have stayed before, and they with us. We are still awaiting a reply from a SERVAS host in Rennes...whom we chose because of this description: "old typical house (mud built)." After all of our houses, we ... read more

A fantastic day touring Paris and seeing the sights. We strolled the Champs-Elysees and stopped at a macroon shop the girls came across back in 2015. It was sad seeing Notre’ Dame Cathedral, but refreshing to see the progress on renovation made thus far. See the new trusses? We made our way over to the speciality cheese shop where the merchant stored his cheese in a very (cool ) cave under his shop. We experienced 8 different cheeses from several areas of France. So much to learn with over 1400 different cheeses produced in France and 46 have protected names and can only be made in a certain town. Finished our night back in our beautiful courtyard at the Renaissance Trocadero.... read more

I woke up to be in a old house then I remembered that we were staying in an old house for three nights. I got up and went downstairs for breakfast and then got ready to go to a special place. After driving to....St Emillion, we looked around a little bit and then realised that we could do a tour of where St Emillion lived for ten years of his life and the catacombs under the church of the town of St Emillion. I learnt that St Emillion (the person) was famous for having the ability to heal people and make things like bread turn to wood. He did not like his fame and went on a pilgrimage until he made St Emilliom his home (a cave in the side of the hill). After the tour ... read more

I had a lazy day today around the house, just with Mum, Jacob and Maurane. Dad went wine tasting at a local vineyard. It was such a lovely day. Mum, Jacob and I went exploring around the property, there was not much to see as we could not go in the long grass thanks to ticks and snakes. We then went swimming, then Dad arrived back to come jump in the pool with us. I tried foie gras for the first time, and loved it. Not much to write today as I didnt do that much.... read more

Arrived in Paris today by train from Amsterdam. What a great experience to travel by high speed rail! So quiet and fast. We traveled up to 180 mph! We took a stroll after a fantastic typical Parisian 2 1//2 hour long dinner and viewed the Eiffel Tower at night. Breathtaking. Finished the night sitting in a beautiful courtyard enjoying some fantastic wine and watching a little mouse dodge in and out of the garden. We miss being here last with the girls March 20,2015 . (Photo at the Louvre’)... read more

6TH DAY IN FRANCE! Driving, More Driving And Giant Chocoate Croissants! I got up at a decent time to find every one awake and having a coffee before seeing everyone awake and in the cars driving 5hrs to go to new place to stay, but we also had some stops along the way. Our first stop was at a bakery somewhere in France and we had giant chocolate croissants then got back on the road. Our next stop was at La-Rochelle a giant castle and we could either catch a shuttle for free or be pulled along in a carrige by horses for 2,00€ each and we went on the shuttles but it was very cool. then got on the road again. Then we got there and it was so old and dark. After looking around ... read more

First day in Paris is done and dusted. 17,300 steps and my feet can walk no more ?‍♀️?‍♀️. Firstly I must tell you that when I went to the boarding gate in Hong Kong for the Paris leg they told me my seat ? had been changed so my heart sank. BUT.... it was an upgrade to Business Class!! Woohoo!!????. I could lie down for the next 12.5 hours. What a difference that made. I was horrified at the African refugee tent ghettos driving from the airport. Virtually sitting on the edge of the highway. No homes or jobs and nothing to do but gather in a park near by- mostly young people. The driver tells me the rich people come with food for them. It’s all very well for the President to let them in, ... read more
