Decided to go to Paris with Vix for a weekend of shopping, eating and sightseeing. We arrived in Paris in the early evening and from the airport we cook a coach to central Paris where we then took a taxi to our hotel. It was only around 9pm, so we decided to go out and get something to eat and also walk about Paris for a bit. It was pretty wet when we first arrived in Paris, but when we were walking, it turned out to be pretty nice. The shops were all closed, but that was a good thing!!! After walking about a bit we went to eat at a Bistro down a nice looking cobbled street! The food was great and Vix and I talked for a long time about everything! It's amazing ... read more

You can't go to Europe without visiting Paris. Cobbled streets, delicious food and delightfully strange people, what is there not to love? The city itself is full of history and gorgeous scenes from the past. My first visit to Paris was shortly after I arrived in London, for Bjorn's 30th birthday. From London, the cheapest and easiest way to get to Paris is via Eurostar. The Eurostar Terminal in Paris is located at Gare du Nord, which is right in the heart of Paris. From the main train station, the Metro is just a short navigation through (sometimes) confusing tunnels. The Metro itself is fairly easy to navigate, if not a little confusing when it comes to trying to figure out where the hell you should be going (there are a lot of stations) but once ... read more

Sigh, it is our last night in lovely Paris. We are sad. :( So last night I set my alarm for about 7:30, because we wanted to get up early to avoid the crazy tourist crowds. It went off, and I tried to get Sarah up, but she was like "5 more minutes". Okay. So 5 minutes later I tried to wake her up again and she was like "15 more minutes". So I snoozed for a bit, then at around 8:30 I tried her again. "Lets just sleep till 9". Well, when we finally stumbled into the light of day it was about 10:30. Hmm... sneaky... Today we took a day trip to Versailles where we saw le Chateau (not the store, the castle). On the way I tried some French coffee because I haven't had my morning fix for ... read more

Yeah, we are still in Paris, but this internet s so cheap, and we keep finishing up the day so much earlier than in London, that this just seems like the best thing to do. Today was a fun day. We had planned last night to be waking up at around 8:00, and so we set the alarm as such. It went off as planned, however, I insisted that, as I was very tired, we sleep for five more minutes. They passed far to quickly, so I aksed for another ten.... needless to say, we woke up at 9:45.... yeah, go us. Its okay though, we needed to sleep in a bit. So it was good. After we woke up, we made our way to the train station and off we went to Versailles. This was ... read more

So far Paris is the greatest city ever. The people are SO nice (partly because of Sarah's ample bosom I think, but hey, at least they are civil), there is so much to see and do and there is a very relaxing mood about the place that makes you feel like just sitting and chilling out, preferably while eating my new favourite dessert, strawberry tartelettes YUM. Today we woke up quite early, to the chagrin of Sarah, and took the Métro to the Louvre. We stayed there for about 5 hours or so and admired all the art. I'm not much of an artsy type person, but some of the exhibits were really cool. We went into the Egyptian art gallery and checked out some cool things like sarcophagus heads and such, and the Napoleon exhibit ... read more

I have returned! So, once again I will apologise for the cut off on the last entry, stupid fascist computer... trying to stop me from expressing myself.... Anyway, today was a very good day, except the whole part where I had to get up at 7:30. Early mornings should be abolished... (if and when I rule the world... the first thing to go...) So we woke up today, and got dressed and such. I am so in love with our hostel this time! It is just so quaint. Another bonus is that it is clean, which, I actually came to realise aids in my cockroach count for the trip being as low as it is, a wonderfully fabulous ZERO!!!! I cannot expres my joy that I have not yet seen even one trace of a roach. ... read more

Sarah is already well in the midst of writing her journal on these godforsaken keyboards, she has much more patience than I, so instead I will just say that we are now in lovely Paris, so far my favorite city (although they were all great!), last night was the Bastille Day celebration, so we saw an amazing display of fireworks over the beautiful Eiffel Tower. Today we are planning on going to Montmartre and seeing Sacré Coeur and the Moulin Rouge, among other things, YAY!!! So until I find a proper keyboard, here are some more photos! Enjoy!... read more

Okay, it's me again, but this time I have a longer time to figure out this ridiculous keyboard - every letter is in the wrong place and it took me forever to find the @ sign. Yeesh. So last we wrote we were still in London, staying at that godforsaken hostel. I need to vent about it, so here are all the horrible things in point form: Our beds looked like they were picked up at a garage sale, 1/2 price; they were squeaky and uncomfortable and the top bunks didnt have railings so Sarah damn near rolled right off the bed. The carpet looked as if it had also been picked up at a garage sale but this time for free and nobody has ever bothered to vacuum since. This horrible girl in our room ... read more
