Edinburg Buses
These are the buses that we took while in Edinburgh (hmmm... Captain Obvious strikes again...) actually though, there are normally like 15 lined up and ready to go at any given time. Its crazy. I have returned!
So, once again I will apologise for the cut off on the last entry, stupid fascist computer... trying to stop me from expressing myself....
Anyway, today was a very good day, except the whole part where I had to get up at 7:30. Early mornings should be abolished... (if and when I rule the world... the first thing to go...) So we woke up today, and got dressed and such. I am so in love with our hostel this time! It is just so quaint. Another bonus is that it is clean, which, I actually came to realise aids in my cockroach count for the trip being as low as it is, a wonderfully fabulous ZERO!!!! I cannot expres my joy that I have not yet seen even one trace of a roach. People kept warning me about the cockroach infestation here in Paris, so i developed this horrid vision of cockroaches climbing all over walls and such... Something very reminicent of the caterpillars in the summertime, in great clumps and such. Now; there is a relief for ya eh? however, I will keep you updated ont he cockroach situation if it worsens.
Enough rambling... see we actually have a fair amount of time today, so i feel like i have te liberty to ramble slightly... forgive me... Right.. so Today! Well, first thing this morning we went to check out the Louvre. This was to develop our artistic nature. (Unfortunetly it is still stick men for me). We wandered around there for q good three or four hours. That was fun. There were so many stairs there, it was insane. I am officially the stair master now! I suppose it was well worth it as I have hopefully worked off the crepe I had for supper last night. So, we perused the art, and yeah, we saw the Mona Lisa and Venus de milo... one without eyebrows, and one without arms. And; we also saw an infinite amount of nude men. I think I have had my nudity fill for quite some time. The paintings were very pretty though, and there were some rooms that had odl furniture and chandelieres which I was very keen on bringing home. Jackie said no. Sigh.
We were gettting really hungry and our feet were starting to hurt, what with all the stairs and such, so we left the louvre and made our way to a more populated area. This was not done as easlily as you may think. After being hassled by like 15 people wanting to draw our portraits, we come to Les Champs Elysées, and we wandered aorund there trying to find a suitlble meal. Finally we stopped at this cute little chinese restaurant that was very pretty and neat looking. We went in and were shown to seats and promptly waited on (And i mean promptly - everytime my water looked like it was even lose to becoming empty, there were like 20 chinamen ready to fill it up for me) So we ordered a meal to share. It was very good, however, there was not enough food there to feed a gerbil. Seriously, we basically spent 22 euros on half of a kids order. At least if felt that way. So we left there feeling unfulfilled and went in search of the Arc de Trioph, which we found situated (of course) up a number of steep hills. (as my feet are literally pleading for their very lives "no Sarah, oh please god NOOOO") The arc was soo cool, and so big, it was crazy. SO we got a picutre of triumphant Jackie, as well as a few more and then left the arc, feeling cultured and triumphant... though still a bit hungry.
We then took the Métro to the cemetary in which Jim Morrison is buried. That was really neat. Except, when we got there we didnt have enough sense to get a map, so we had to search for a while to find Jim. Then, once we had, as we were about to go and see Oscar Wilde, the strangest, most excentric frenchman I have ever seen decided to show us around. We went along, and wow was this guy ever odd. And he kept hitting on me. Also, he introduced himself in like two different names -Raphael and Bernard, strange. Anyway; we got to all of the important graves, and after insisting that I had a boyfriend at home (wink wink) we left the cemetary.
Due to our expensive lunch, we had to go a bit easy on supper so we bought some good fruit. It was delicious and actually filling, so that worked. Tomorrow, we think we may go to Versaille, but we are uncertain. We shall see how that turns out anyway.
Well, this is Sarah, signing off from the city of love! Miss everyone lots, and keep the e-mails coming!
