I have learned that Travelblog offers a cool functionality for displaying the travel route. It is based on Google Earth, but unfortunately you must have both Google earth and the map tool running simultaneously in order to navigate and mark the right destinations of your travel route. This is not too complicated as long as you have some obvious landmarks or citys to navigate for. However when it comes to Mongolia and other rural parts where cities are missing, this is quite a task to mark all places correctly. Nonetheless, this has been done and you can find the route map of the total trip below, where it has been split into three separate parts to contribute with the best overview of each region: Route map 1/3 Russia, Mongolia and China Please notice that the starting ... read more

Geo: 55.6763, 12.5681The riots continued again on Friday night and there was a few burnt out cars this time and the air was savager, C did a 4am walk as the noise was so bad (while I was in my usual sleep through an earthquake mode), it was expected to go on a 3rd night but we didn't see any more, apparently other parts of town had it though and there was sympathy demos in the rest of Scandinavia and Germany. So our girlfriend BME arrived on Sat. afternoon to witness peaceful demos in Radhusplads and we had coffee with a good view of it and then a walk home to show her all the fire sites! And then later we were reluctantly served dinner in "Mama Africa" by nervous staff but there was no trouble that ... read more

Geo: 55.6763, 12.56811st March 07 around 6pmThis -http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/breaking/2007/0301/breaking 34.htm is going on right now on my doorstep. It's been building all day before kicking off seriously about an hour ago. I was out in the thick of it with my camera but it's quite hairy and easy to get caught in the crossfire especially as the riot vans have taking to barrelling through the crowd at speed to avoid the missiles and impromptu road barricades. This means that you have to watch the vans, the people dodging the vans and the missiles that miss the vans. One brave hoodie got carried away in a Tiananmen moment and came with in millimetres of being carried away in an ambulance as he severely tested the braking reflexes of riot van man. The extremely direct action margin keep melting ... read more

Geo: 55.6763, 12.5681I walk out of the house this morning and there's a helicopter over my head (not unusual in Dublin 8 I hear you say but it is here), then I look up the road and see cops & flashing lights and realise theres no buses coming down my street today and an old man tells me its something to do with Ungdomhuset. So off I go walking to the train station. I see on the news & web later later the people are finally being evicted from ungdomhuset so that explains the helicopter http://www.cphpost.dk/print.jsp?o_id=100644See my explantion on 21 Dec 06 blog entry entitled "Home alone in Copenhagen or is it Beiriut?" But basically the evictions were from a place that is not really a squat but a youth collective and C said he read ... read more

My Other is hunkered down for New England snowstorms. Huddled in protective layers. Hibernating fugitive. Fearfully guarding hopeful warmer memories, ‘cause I’ve never been a fool when my heart was on the line. Winter is different here. There is nothing to be overcome. And February has been dramatically wonderful. I think the “other” business stems from an overload of EU theory. I’m self-medicating; applying political hypotheses to a quasi crisis of self. Valentine’s was awesome (i.e. breakfast in bed and roses). We went out for dinner and climbed to the top of this old observatory for a truly spectacular view. Bizarrely I was on the phone with mum as I got to the top. Symbolism? Irony? I caught a cold too. It’s hard to tell who the culprit was too…so many runny noses. Luckily I’ve been ... read more

Ns and I went to Christiania, the “free” city within Copenhagen, today. C and I were supposed to go, but she wasn’t feeling well. Lots of artwork on buildings, drugs sold out in the open, free spirits who took over abandoned army barracks, tax-free love dressed in bright colors. Had a great time exploring. After stopping by the Opera House, we ended up at the Black Diamond (ultra sleek part of the Royal Library). Hot chocolate and serious discussions. Introduced Ns to M and F, who proceeded to interrogate me about all the details. I also got a basket for my Finding Nemo bike. So now I can carry around my soul. Mum sent a Valentine’s Day card in the mail. Snoopy of course. It seems we’ve gotten closer since I’ve left…if that makes any sense. ... read more

Der kommer meget mere her inden da........ read more

It’s Thursday and I’m happy. It’s Thursday and I’m wondering if I’ll ever want to go home. It’s Thursday, and I’m lost in fairy tales. I spent today hunting down books with Ns. I spent yesterday wandering through the national art museum, eating falafel, and wearing my hood up. Also bought a ticket to Stockholm with C. It’s Thursday and I’m happy. I spent last night wandering the city into the wee hours of the morning. A man with beautiful words. I haven’t even been here 2 weeks. I’m not sure if that makes this crazy or even better. Gliding through the freezing costal air. Our hands are numb and you’re glad I came to Denmark. I feel so alive biking with you in the early morning darkness.... read more

I arrived in Copenhagen On January 9th. I was two days late to my 3-week pre-semester intensive intro to Danish course. In Denmark, the sun appears about one hour a day during the month of January. It rained for my first three weeks. I was terribly lost in my Danish course. I couldn't eat or sleep. But after week one was over, the exhaustion faded and the fun and excitement took over. Also, I met some fabulous friends during my Danish course. So I experienced a bit of culture shock at first and decided to write about it... Cultural Conversions When I arrived the verbiages and rhythms of voices were incomparable to any common sound. Not a single recognizable set of eyes, lips or arms was there to introduce me to the sunless weather. The first ... read more

This week was the first real week of classes. I like all of them very much and they seem really interesting to me. In human health and disease (HHD), we began learning how to take a patients history, the questions to ask about different aching body parts and when to ask them, and so on. Though I have shadowed my uncle before, who is a cardiologist, this was my first time actually being told the formality of the whole thing. I was fascinated by it all, and it definitely served to reinforce my future career plans. All the people in the class have some background knowledge with the topics, but I feel Wofford prepared me very well as I knew quite a bit of what we talked about and about what we are going to talk ... read more
