Its hard to believe we are back in Copenhagen (albeit only the SAS lounge at the airport) where we started our holiday about 5 weeks ago. Just taking this opportunity to do a quick blog (who said blogging was addictive!) while waiting for our connection to Tokyo in about 2 hours. We left our little hotel in Paris early this morning after carefully checking our watches were set back 1 hour, ( daylight saving ended today) and caught a taxi to the Arc de Triomphe where we got on the Air France cheap coach to Terminal 1 at Charles de Gaulle airport. What an amazing place is this - would have to be the most extensive airport complex we've ever been to. The coach took nearly half an hour to travel thru the terminals dropping off ... read more

Okay, so on the train from, the last stop in Sweden was Malmo before crossing a bridge to Denmark. On the map it looks a long way, but when you travel it, before you know it your on the other side. I guess when we read maps back home anything that looks small is actually big! So arriving in Kobenhavn (Copenhagen) in the afternoon, I checked into a 5 star youth hostel, and for such a quality place then what more apt name should apply ... Danhostel! Good work. I checked in along with a guy I met on the train, Jeremy from Atlanta. We headed out for a Mexican and few drinks, before wandering around the town of Copenhagen at night, and without maps I think we traversed almost most of the main areas of ... read more

Geo: 55.6763, 12.5681After 12.75 months my office actually had a staff night out! Dinner at 17.30 in Indian Taj - very nice restaurant I been to a good few times & then at 19.30 a IMAX film in Tycho Brahe Planetarium on the southeastern corner of Skt Jørgens Sø (the southernmost of the lakes that enclose central Copenhagen), named after the famous sixteenth-century Danish astronomer who discovered the constellation Cassiopeia, the film was about 3D annimation but unfortunately there was no English translation, so with a full stomach & 3 bottles of beer in me I proceeded to fall asleep, much to the amusment of my perfect colleagues! But the five-minute show of the current night sky using the planetarium projector was good! Then 4 die hards (me, an Indian & 2 danes) went to Kennedys ... read more

Geo: 55.6763, 12.5681The last time I was in Dublin I noticed on the radio they were advertising a culture night where all the museums & theatres would be open til midníght which sounded great but I didn't have time to go. And then I discover they have been doing it in Cph annually for 13 years, how cool is that? So on 13th Oct they had their 14th one. "On The Night of Culture the aim is to temporarily change the ambience and cultural landscape of Copenhagen. The whole city is an integral part of The Night of Culture, involving major and minor cultural institutions from the main boroughs: Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Christianshavn, Østerbro, City and Frederiksberg." Tickets were like 10eur(70dkk) for access all areas plus all public transport. So our best man was coming over that weekend ... read more

Copenhagen is the prom queen, the captain of every sports team, the valedictorian, and everyone's best friend. You want to hate her so badly because she's just so freaking perfect. But how do you hate something so great? Copenhagen really has EVERYTHING going for it: awesome people who are nice and who smile (unlike the Czechs, who are pretty bitter and sour-faced), great food, cleanliness and efficiency in every aspect of life, beautiful buildings. It is impossible to not love this city. Coming off the plane from Prague, the first thing you notice are the people. Every Dane is tall, blond, and stunningly beautiful. Every woman looks like Kate Hudson or Gwyneth Paltrow, every man like Robert Redford or Brad Pitt. It is almost insane. Like a genetic experiment gone... horribly well? In addition to the ... read more

After some time hanging out at Sofie´s pad (which she´s just managed to rent out) in Copenhagen, tearful farewell to her parents at Kastrup airport and my promising to take good care of her. ---- 8 hours of so of boring (as in a drill boring through your skull) flight-life slips by No cool personal screens, only monitors that drop down somewhere overhead that only 20% of people have a good view of; our monitor exhibited an interesting monochrome/blue characteristic. i.e. Continental SUCK. Awfully small seats, and no limitless free booze. Everything I´d promised my girl - yet to experience intercontinental travel - now dashed. I shouldnt have built up her expectations with my tales of flying with decent enterprises like Virgin Atlantic (I don't wish to advertise for R. Branson, I just posited them in ... read more

Hi All. or for the final time, "Hilsen fra Kopenhavn". at least this keyboard in the airport has a 'normal' layout , not like that freakin one in the internet cafe in town. (Adrian here, bye the way) The bit I typed late last nite when I was stuffed was a bit of a mess I know!! Some keyboards have all those funny "O's and A's and the @ and capital locks in the wrong places. Mary was swearin' & cursin' when she was typing. As I said, we are in the lounge at CPH airport waiting for our boarding to Prague at 2pm. Very sad checkout at the Avenue Hotel this morning. The reception staff so nice and friendly. Mary was showing the girl her photos of Denmark, Australia! With so many Europeans living ... read more
