Well, I know it ia a day after the event, but wewere partying way hard yesterday. The day started wet, with warm-ups being soaked and couple of crashes occuring. 11 o clock races started with the Moto3 race. As expected from thse young guys it is adrenalin fueled racing, paying little attention to racelines and breaking points. Our boy Brad Binder nr 34, came in 20th, with a much better race than the Saturday qualifying. Moto2 delivered exciting racing, with Marc Marques won, putting th efirst Spaniard on the podium. Onto the main race, whar can I say. From the get go,Dani and Jorge took the lead and left everyone in their wake. With 10 laps to go Dani made a brilliant pass, I thought it was 5 laps too early, but he made it stick. Then the ... read more

Well, where to start. After a fabulous party at the track, right opposite the double downhill chicane, we had an early start to the day. Breakfast at 7 am, then at 8:15 the bus departed. We walked the track a bit, bought some merchandise and took many many photos. Free practice went quite well for all three classes. During qualy Danni crashed out, came back and stil qualified thrid, with Lorenso fist and the local Carl Crutchlow scond. Moto 3 started well, unfortunately local boy Brad crashed out and will be starti g in last place. Moto 2 had a red flag after a horrible crash. Luckily the injury was not too bad and qualy continued in due course. After everything there was still the Red Bull Rookies to race. Once again we had a local ... read more

Today we started off, no breakfast, as last nights check in to the Penzione in Trebon was a bit chaotic. Travel the back road, ignoring the GPS whenever she demanded we head for the highway. Yes, this did mean slower trafic, single lanes and little villages every 10 km on a 150 km trip. We still got the car to the airport on time and saw some awesome sights along the way.

The D1 motorway continued through the Moravian countryside to the outskirts of Brno, where it connects with the D2 south to Slovakia. The country here is farmland dotted with villages dating to medieval times, with the city of Brno in the middle. The suburbs of the traditional capital of Moravia were dotted with high-density Communist-era apartment blocks. But now, they have been repainted from drab grey and tan into a bouquet of pastels. Here, the D2 motorway split off outside the city center to head south for the Slovakian border and Bratislava. The southern suburbs presented a different picture, dotted with new strip malls and big box stores. Someone is buying all that merchandise! Abruptly, we were back in the countryside once more and soon passing through wine country. (Moravia is known for wine, while Bohemia ... read more

Have you ever made you way to a MotoGP? Well, I have, a few times. Normally the MotoGP in question is in Melbourne. Klaire would hang out in Melbourne with friends and look around, while I would go and get feral with the bikers at Phillip Island. This time it was similar, except that Klaire was in Prague with her mum, and I headed down to Brno with her dad – my father in law. The drive from Prague to Brno isn't far – just 200 odd k's down the motorway, piece of the proverbial, you might say. Indeed, but you wouldn't have taken into consideration that the Eastern Bloc preference for building shit out of concrete – apartment blocks, Berlin Walls and bunkers – would extend to highways. Fair enough, neither did I. Long story ... read more

Early start this morning, I have a few hours traveling before I reach Brno where I will be flying from tonight. I caught the 8.19 bus from Lenka’s place into Opava where I had a short walk to the train station and a little wait for the 9.27 train from Opava to Ostrava. Then I boarded the 10.45 train to Brno. It was raining part of the way but by the time we reached Czech’s second largest city it was again sunny and hot. I was able to store my bag at the train station (after begging for change to put in the coin slot) and go out exploring the town a little. I have most of the day before my flight this evening, so I spent the time wandering around the city. Seemed I was ... read more

It takes only 2 hours from Vienna to Brno by train. Meanwhile you pass the beautiful hilly landscape of Moravia. It reminds me a little of Toscane in Italy. But what to do in Brno? Actually we had only one reason to see Brno and that was to visit the Mendel museum. But who was Mendel? Well, Mendel is the founder of genetics. You know the man who came up with the mathematical laws of hereditary, the stuff your teacher biology tried to make clear to you and never succeeded fully. I know, because I was one of them, I mean one of those teachers. We are looking for Grisha, when we come out of the station with our heavy rucksacks. But who is Grisha? Grisha is one of the pupils of the school I used ... read more

My plan was going to up to get up at 8:00am or so and be on the train at 10:38am. That plan did not go to well since I was feeling crappy, I ended up sleeping in. I finally caught a train around noon and ended up getting into Brno around 16:00 which sucked because most things closed at 17:00. I checked in to Hostel Fleda and once again I was the first person in my room so I can select the best bed in my mind. My room was split into two rooms and later on a guy from China came and was in the other room so we both kind of had our own rooms which was wonderful. I was uber hungry and just outside the hostel the was a kebab shop where I ... read more
