So, Hum…. How to even attempt to put such a divine experience into words…. My main drawcard for making the journey to Strilky was to see Swamji for Gurupurnima as well as see Him in European context. When I greeted Swamiji on the day of Gurupurnima, He said to me “Yashoda, you will get Kriya here OK?" Profound gratitude and pure joy bubbled inside me! There was quite a procession of people who came to greet Swamiji, bearing gifts of varying compositions. While the intentions were almost identical, I could not help but notice the amount of plastic packaging. Plastic is alive and thriving in Europe. I participated in the Kriya Anustan program which was quite intensive and a significant learning curve. It involved lots of sitting on our mats and breath techniques for many hours ... read more

I apologize for not writing much recently, things have been getting a little busy getting ready for the study tour. Today marked the first of six days of wandering around the Czech Republic. We actually got to leave Bohemia and head into Moravia! Today we went to a network of caves and then spent the afternoon in Brno. The cave system was amazing. I’ve been to a few caves and caverns back in the States (Laurel Caverns in Pennsylvania and Smoke Hole in Canaan Valley) and I really enjoy them, so this was a lot of fun. The guide didn't speak English, so we heard everything in Czech first, then there was an English recording that played for us. I kind of feel bad that everyone has to speak our language in order for us to ... read more

Also the z and the y are backwards so may get i wrong at time and there punctuation is all aver the place. Othere then that we will see what I can do = the beer is helping. Since I spoke to you last scott and I have been to a concentration camp. It was very eerie and somber. We spent a good 3hrs walking round reading all the stuff. The foundations of the small gas chamber and the poles where thez hung people from their arms for days are still visable as to were the extermination trenches. Very moving. Then we went to postdam ... read more

Greetings all, It's come time for me to update this old thing about my Easter adventures, and I have lots to say and only so much desire to write so much, so no time to dilly dally, let's get the ball rolling. On Friday, April 3rd, Libor, Jana , Ivan , and I drove to Vienna with our friend Jevgenij , where he dropped the four of us off, and we spent the afternoon in Vienna. We went to the Schönbrunn Palace where we hung out, people watched, and enjoyed the suddenly warm weather that struck Austria. It was a beautiful day, and we took it all in, then caught the metro into the heart of the city and wandered around a little bit, before eventually finding our way to one of Vienna's train stations to ... read more

For a small town, Brno has quite terrible traffic, mainly due to the small one or two lane streets I guess. We arrived on time but it took about 15-20 mins more to get to the bus station. Despite an initial mix up (there are two bus stations) my host found me and we dropped off my stuff before heading out to get some food. He also took me to a local pub to try a special beer unique to Brno - Pegas. They brew it onsite and it's unfiltered. I have to say that it's probably the best beer I've had so far - light, smooth and not too bitter:) The also throw in lemon slices so there's a lemony taste too. Did a little bit of sightseeing at night on the way to pick ... read more

You're perhaps wondering what the title of this blog means, "Láska." That, ladies and gentlemen, is the Czech word for LOVE. Because I am in LOVE. And her name is ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA. I have found my absolute, uncontestable favorite land in Europe. Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! So, let's get right to it. On Thursday, the 18th, Libor and I woke up at the crack of dawn (after going to bed at the crack of dawn) to catch the train to Vienna. We had decided to go up really early so we could spend the entire day there trying to see everything for Christmas and how it looked. What we did not factor in, however, was the lovely Austrian winter weather of rain rain rain rain rain. We got to Vienna at about 10am, and then set out ... read more

...and i will walk OVER 9,000 moar!!!! I haven't actually walked 1,000 miles, that is the biggest lie in the history of modern society, however, this time yesterday I was completing a journey probably about 1,000 miles long overland, which was not what I planned to do, but screw it, the worst thing that can happen is if everything goes to plan. And why this happened is a rather deep story which unfortunately is going to make my travelblog more resemblant to livejournal. So I left you last on wednesday night, and the less said about my night in Tábor on here the better quite frankly, but I have to say I loved the town to bits, it was very small and picturesque, once central to the hussite movement, who built about 20 little streets coming ... read more
