Ranajky kupene v pekarni mlinar (siet pekarni v chorvatsku). Davam syrovy burek, ten zjedeny na lavicke pri malom pristave pri Bridge of Croatian Defenders from Homeland War. Dnesny ciel rijeka castle. K nemu idem po nekonecnych schodoch Trsatske Stube. Schody su v pohode. Postupne sa mi naskytaju fajn vyhlady na rijeku, more, kopce, dialnicny most a rozne uzke ulicky co sa napajaju na schody. Na vrchole ma caka kostol Our Lady of Trsat a pri nom Pančićev park. V nom je vytvorena krizova cesta. Tak sa idem poprechadzat. Mierne stupanie po fajn chodniku v lese. Krizova cesta fajn, bo vyjavi su robene formou fajn soch. Nachadzam tu i dva bunkre ale vstup bud blokuje kopa porastu abo smeti. Na vrchole parku je vyhliadka (stara kamenna). Fajn vyhlad na mesto, v pozadi more a kopce. Od kostola ... read more

To make the most of my last day, I was up at 8 and showered and packed by 9am, so that I could go and have breakfast at Lady Pi Pi down the street. After a nice meal of freshly squeezed orange juice, macchiato long and a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with fresh tomato on the side, I was ready to hit the shops and wandered through the old city for the last time. All sorted I left the apartment at 1:15 to make the walk to the bus stop, where I waited about 15 minutes for the shuttle bus to the airport. It was another beautiful warm day and I made the most of catching the last sun rays, before I will be inside for the next 33 hours ?. Bus to airport was ... read more

Slow start to today as I enjoyed not being on tour and my new apartment. I had booked a tour for this morning that was a 3 hour walking tour covering history and Game of Thrones locations. I met my local guide Jelena at 10am at the Plocë Gate, after a quick coffee nearby. There were only 8 of us in the group so it was really great and personal. Jelena spoke really well and knew her stuff - I actually learnt a lot from her about the history. Old Dennis may have told us the same info but who knows! The tour started on the Plocé Gate, which was used in GoT as the walk of shame location. We then went into the old city and she explained about many of the famous landmarks and ... read more

Well, the weather was not good today! I guess it was bound to happen sometime but I was devo that it happened on the day we were going to go to the Elaphite Islands. We all met in the lobby at 9 as previously instructed where Melinda advised the Captain of our boat said we couldn't sail today, due to the weather. Apparently all cruises were cancelled for today. She was busily trying to work out an alternate itinerary for the day so said we should perhaps go and get coffee while she worked it out. Kim, Don and I headed toward the beach area (with rain jackets and umbrellas) to find somewhere to have coffee but there was hardly anything open. We ended up finding a place and just killed some time there. Melinda organised ... read more

We all met in the lobby of our hotel at 9am to walk to our bus and head into the old city of Dubrovnik. Once we arrived at the Pilé Gate, we met our local guide Dennis (yep, food Croatian name!),. It was crazy there as there were huge groups of tourists off cruise ships. Dennis told us that there was one day a few years ago where they had over 16,000 visitors into the old city, which isn't really big enough for that to be an enjoyable experience for anyone! UNESCO got involved and recommended they restrict the number to 8,000, which they have done but I believe they will reduce it further next year to 5,000. They will also control how many cruise ships can come into port on any one day. Of course ... read more

We met our local tour guide, Vesna, at 9 am and proceeded on our walking tour of the old town of Kotor. This place is just beautiful and everything I glimpses the "wall of Kotor", I am in awe. The wall is 4 and a half kilometres long and took about 1,000 years to complete. To walk to the top there are 1,400 steps and it is unbelievable how hight up it goes, all the way to the fortress on top. We started the tour at the 'sea gate' in the city wall where Vesna explained that the water used to come right up to this gate, in ancient times. We then walked through the town, stopping along the way for Vesna to tell us something about particular buildings. On tower, just inside the sea gate ... read more

Happy birthday Julie ❤️ No plans today so woke when I woke and went down to breakfast around 9:30. After breakfast I decided to walk along the coast until I could find a nice beach and just hang out. The weather was very pleasant today, sunny and warm without any humidity. I walked past many interesting little spots that looked tempting to dive into - the water was crystal clear, blue green and inviting! This part of the world had the cleanest water of anywhere. I ended up walking about 4kms when I decided to stop at a little beach bar called Korcula Hill Beach Club but there was no one there and it was shut. I made myself comfortable on the 'sand' (which was in fact little stones) and enjoyed laying in the sun for ... read more

This morning was spent packing up and getting my bag out my door before 8:15, after which I headed downstairs for a quick breakfast as we needed to be on the bus by 8:45am. We then drive to Split to wait in line at the ferry terminal. Kim and I did a quick walk to find some coffee - which we did but I'm not sure it was worth the walk! We had to go inside a bar, which was filled with smoke, to get the coffee. We couldn't get out of there quick enough and both felt like we had actually just smoked a cigarette haha. Our bus drove onto the ferry whilst we all walked in board and found an area we could hang out together. It was a pretty old ferry so no ... read more

There is one thing we really enjoyed while in dubrovnik, it was enjoying the sunset and our nights out. We have found a couple of nice bars and one restaurant worth mentionning. If you are looking for a nice view point to enjoy the sunset, then I would propose one of those two locations: Bard bar ou Buza bar. The two are fairly crowded at that time of the day, so come early or be lucky to find a nice seat. And yet they are not so easily spotted. You have to go through a tiny gate from inside the city walls to find yourself at the foot of it. Just grand! The atmosphere in both is great but Bard is a bit more fancy, serving nice cocktails while Buza is a bit more rough serving ... read more
