The photos say it all. Off to a jousting tornament - much more violent then we thought. Lots of broken lances and wood flying every where. The jester was very funny - very very funny. Might take it up as my next career! Then off to see Leeds lose 0-2. This aside it was a really great atmospheric game, even better then the Manchester one.... read more

We took off to Thirsk to see where Alf Wight - James Herriott - worked and wrote. So pretty and a great place to have lunch. We had tradtional sunday lunch at "The golden Fleece" which was known as the Darrowby Arms in his books. Then headed to look at Harrogate before heading home. We will miss the papers, soccer field out the back, chocolate, great supermarkets, papers. I've read The family Fang - by kevin wilson, Call the midwife - Jennifer worth, The Decendants - Kaui Hart Hemmings, Half the human race - by Anothy Quinn, Capital by John Lanchaster, The woman who went to bed for a year, Sue Townsend and am loving!!!! The Kasmir Shawl - Rosie Thomas. I've down loaded Mareik Hardys book and The marriage plot and will add a few ... read more

So our last few days here and we begin preparing for Europe - weather is about 10, cloudy and rainy - much what we thought it would have been like the whole time we have been here. Doing research on Prague and still finding accomodation in Vienna, more reading to be done in the next couple of days. Packing involves sorting, culling, throwing and posting- not too many arguements mainly with Greg who wants to keep everything. The man at the post office knows me now! Lots of lego and soccer magazines are on their way home but the build a bear bunny - who now has PJ's is embarking on the next leg of the journey with us! We saw a horse stunt show yesterday - combining the two primary themes of our trip - ... read more

Greg was up at 5am, out of the room by 5.15am and he headed over to line up to get on the Old Course to play. I called at 8am, i could hear lots of wind in the background, but GREAT news, he was on and playing. A group of 4 had pulled out so he'd just hit off and thought the ball had hit the water!!! Will leave it to him to fill in the rest. Kids and i trying to get organised and head to the movies. Went and saw Pirates, pretty good, great bus trip to the top of Dundee and back to the snow. Weather today back in Yorkshire was blizzards, again more great luck! or a St Andrews miracle. St Andrews, let me set the scene. 6.15am, 1.5 degrees, the wind ... read more

Castle and a huge change of weather!! We drove up via a huge detour to Hadrians Wall, a clear day but freezing cold. Great stop near Twice brewed - yes a real town. Great Museum and really impressive remains of the wall, fort that house 800 and the village outside the fort. We ended up taking about 5 hours all up to get to Edinburgh, so a long day and stir crazy children in the back. Once checked in to the good old travelodge we walked the town for a few hours. up to the castle then out to the memorial to Greyfriars Bobby then a trip to "The elephant house" - where JK rowling wrote Harry Potter - we couldn't get in as it was so packed. We stayed in the old town, and it ... read more

The much anticipated Legoland trip is over. we're back in Leed after two full on days riding rides and being amazed by Lego. i think the photos will speak for themselves. the highlight for me was the new Starwars minifigure exhibition - which some of you may be bored by but we loved. FULL SIZE DARTH VADER IN LEGO - need I say more!!! Also new animated lego movie, The Padwan menace was really funny, nice George Lucas cameo! Not sure if you can watch it on youtube or not. The rides were great, pirate ship was a hit - we managed 4 times back to back as it wasn't busy. I made my self so sick on the spider - like the cha cha but way too fast, that i couldn't walk. I really am ... read more

Manchester, 1 hour drive on the way to the game. 2 and a half hours returning from the game! A long day but really memorable. We parked at the stadium and walked to catch the tram in to the city, which was about a 10 minutes trip. Quite shockingly we had to walk in the shade, hot hot hot in the sun, actually broke a sweat! I think it got to about 22 and is supposed to stay like that for the next few days? though they are predicting snow this weekend in the highlands, just when we get to Scotland. In saying that temps are still drooping to freezing every night. we went to the Museum of science and industry, it's spread over 5 Huge buildings, a bit like the powerhouse in Sydney but not ... read more

Such a great feeling to be able to retreat to the Price Palace!!!! Washing all caught up on, actually used the clothes line yesterday! We saw The hunger games today, pretty long and ok. On our way home we were talking about differences between home and here. 1. People park in any direction on both sides of the road- very strange, you don't know which way cars are going. 2. People NEVER use a rubbish or garbage bin, they just drop the wrapper/rubbish on the ground - street and front yards are full of chip or chocolate wrappers. Rubbish is everywhere. 3. They don't make very good lollies, though they do GREAT chocolate 4. Their papers are AMAZING, newspapers rule in the UK. every week you get to buy one of the latest new releases for ... read more

Last day in Dublin included a very solemn visit to Kilmainham goal. The trip out there was with a very interesting taxi driver, he talked a lot about the problems in Dublin in the past and now. Kilmainham is where the leaders of the 1916 easter uprising were held and executed. Depending on who you talk to in Dublin they are either heros - and the men who led to the free state or men who really weren't supported until the british brought in the notorious black and tans. Everyone seems to have a view on this, nationalism and politics are constant topics. For Kasey the highlight was the horse and carriage ride. It was mothers day here on sunday, so I get two this year! We had lunch at a great pub over towards trinity ... read more

Up to a clear sky. Breakfast - Grandma would be proud, we tried black and white pudding - though only I know what is in it and haven't told them yet. We put on our Paddy's day tat - as they call kitchy junk here and kasey painted our faces for us Headed off to find a spot to watch the parade, set up camp at the begining of Parnell square. it filled up pretty quick, thousands and thousands of people. Really well behaved people. Very different to anything I've been to before - can't really explain it but hopefully the photos will help you understand. Cooper caught the eye of many many girls in the parade who all wanted a kiss - see photos. An hour and a half later it was over, we and ... read more
