Geo: 48.1391, 11.5802Another early start and this time we're off to Munich in Bavaria. The weather was horrible. It was raining and raining hard. From Heidelberg to Munich took about 4 hours in our coach. We did a mini pit stop and we reached Munich just after 12pm, just in time for lunch. We had a quick look around and our guide said some buildings were bombed in WWII and when they were reconstructed, they were not as good as the original. This was certainly the case, we saw a lot of buildings with fantastic architecture on the outside and right next door were very simple buildings. I thought Munich was busy. Lots of people around however it is not as busy as Sydney. We had a look around in various department stores - very similar to ... read more

Geo: 49.4019, 8.68024Like I said, this entry will be short as well, and let's face it, Heidelberg being a university town and out in the sticks will not have that many interesting things to see. Lots of bars though! It is the one of the only towns that were notbombed during WWII and it looked that way with the pubs and housesstill looking like they were before the war and cobblestones willlining up the streets. We saw the hill where Hitler and his minionswould come and talk to the young people about his propaganda.Heidelberg I think still retains that charm of pre WWII. Locals seemto be quite friendly. There is a huge church in the middle. Whilstnot as impressive as St Pauls and Westminster Abbey, it was still ahuge church, There is also a bridge going across ... read more

Geo: 50.2317, 7.58813Next 2 entries are going to be very brief as it seemed like wespent a long time on the bus travelling to a couple of places. We left Amsterdam at around 7.15am onour way to Boppard. On bus trips, nothing exciting happens. Thescenery itself was very nice, with the farmlands and architecture ofthe houses certainly different to what we have back home but overall, nothing much happened. We rode on the Autobahn. Buses are limited to100 km/h. We found out today that if there are 3 lanes on theAutobahn, the cars can go as fast as they want but if there are 2lanes, they are limited to “only” 130km/h. The most exciting partabout the bus trip was my phone buzzing, telling me we'd crossed overthe Germany. Our lunch stop was at St Goar. We weresupposed to ... read more

Geo: 52.3738, 4.89095Way too early to wake up this morning. We had to meet our tour director at 6am, meaning a 5am wake up at the earliest. Anyway we were able to pack everything and walk just next door. Our tour directory organised our luggage whilst we waited in the reception area. When he was ready he came to the area, and whilst looking around he said: "All right every....." Then his eyes fell on me. "Oh no" he said as he made his way towards me. He proceeded to grab my scarf and pretended to throw it in the bin! I have since found out he is a Chelsea supporter. As he handed my scarf back, he said "You sir are sitting at the back." Good times, there'll be some football banter on this trip! From there ... read more

Geo: 51.5142, -0.0931*New high* said my phone at the end of day. It said that I've reached a record number of steps. After what we did today, it did seem like it!Still jet-lagged, I was up by 3.30am and we were both up by 5.30am. Breakfast was at Pret a Manger. This food chain is so big it looked to have taken over McDonalds as the fast food thing to have. Since being here, I've only seen 2 Maccas and there seems to be a Pret around each corner. After breakfast, we made our way to Buckingham Palace. I was impressed by it, it is so big that the guards look like toy soldiers. We were there at 9.40am and it was still relatively empty with a few tourists taking pictures. Seeing we were there too early ... read more

Geo: 51.5142, -0.0931"I got this," as I boarded SQ222 from Sydney to Singapore then onward to London. 9 hours Sydney to Singapore, then 13 or 14 hours from Singapore to London. Piece of cake, I thought. Unfortunately I rather underestimated my staying power. It's one hell of a marathon. To Singapore was fine. I couldn't get to sleep as usual but I kept myself entertained with movies so the the trip to Singapore was fine. We had a layover of about 2 hours in Singapore before our next flight. How bad could it be, really? It's only about 4-5 hours longer than the trip to Singapore. Then came the longest 13.5 hours. Just when I thought I'd slept 4-5 hours, it's only been 20 minutes. Movies were fine...but the same selection. Sleep, eat, watch movie became ... read more

Geo: 3.12433, 101.684Today was quite easy. Not too much happening except that we went on a shopping spree. For the amount of stuff that we got, I think it was quite cheap. We went shopping in Sungei Wang which somehow became BB Plaza. Lunch was had one last time at Old Town White Coffee. After lunch we went shopping at Berjaya Times Square one last time. Got myself some new shorts.Dinner was all you can eat at a Japanese restaurant, called Suki-Ya. It was all you can eat chicken, lamb and beef and with other side dishes like vegetables, tofu, meatballs and cheese sausages. For a last dinner of our holidays, it was great. Perhaps the best food we had after Jumbo in my opinion. Certainly for me, the best value for money food we've had. We had ... read more

Geo: 3.12433, 101.684Another early morning start, this time to go to Malacca. It was a bit more organised this time and we were the first group off. It took us about 2 hours to get to Malacca. I spent most of the time sleeping! The first stop we did was at the Catholic church, called St Paul's church. It was the oldest church in Malacca, built in 1710. Looking at it, it is still impressive that it had survived more than 2.5 centuries. Inside was still old and you could feel that old, ancient feeling inside though of course, some parts have been modernised like electricity. We spent about 5 to 10 minutes before moving on to the next stop. Our next stop was a Chinese temple, which I think was called Sam Po Kong temple. It ... read more

Geo: 3.12433, 101.684We had to wake up quite early today as we were picked up to do a Gardens tour today, booked with through the hotel. We started off in a chocolate factory. It wasn't so bad, as he showed us the process of how chocolate is made. The chocolate tasted quite good in itself but a bit pricey and in this humid weather, it could melt quite easily. So whilst we all had a taste, we didn't really want to buy anything.Next stop was the butterfly garden. Once going inside, there were lots and lots of butterflies flying around. Some of them quite small but some of them quite big, the size which I haven't seen before. One of them, its wingspan was about the same as one of my handspan. Never seen so big ... read more

Geo: 3.12433, 101.684The first thing we did day was to go to Batu Caves. I thought it was quite good even though it was for Hindus. The giant golden Indian Hindu statue was magnificent. It seemed to guard the entrance to the caves. The caves themselves were very impressive. There were 272 steps to go into the caves. The number of steps themselves were not the problem. It was the steepness of them. They were not so bad going up but going down were a bit more challenging strangely enough. The view at the top to KL was actually quite good. We also saw Indians selling food there and I saw the traditional Indian desserts there. I saw jalebi! And I had one! Only it wasn't as light and fluffy as to what I'm used to. ... read more
