Geo: 22.33, 114.18A major typhoon hit Hong Kong. Our flight was supposed to leave at 7.30pm. On our way to the airport, it was raining heavily. It reminded me of cyclones in Mauritius. We got to the airport at 5-ish only to find out we exceeded the baggage allowance so we got rid of some clothes to be given to charity. Our plane was delayed which was no surprise given the typhoon. At first we were told to go to gate 32. Then it changed to gate 36. We were told our plane would leave at 10pm but when I went to gate 36 at 10pm, it was a plane to Brisbane and not even our flight number. Finally we were told to wait back to gate 32. The airport was chaos as no planes were allowed ... read more

Geo: 22.33, 114.18Last day in Hong Kong before returning home.Spent the whole day packing before meeting up with Winnie's relatives for dinner. At dinner, all I remember was drinking. I don't recall when my glass was ever empty. Winnie's uncles kept giving me drinks and one of them cheated by drinking orange juice about halfway through the dinner before continuing on!... read more

Geo: 22.33, 114.18We really didn't do too much today.Uncle Paul and his wife took us out sightseeing. First stop was the Victoria Peak but as it was foggy and threatening to rain, we didn't really have much of a view. The building was the same though, as I remember it from last time. After that we went to Stanley Beach, which was not really much of beach compared to Bondi Beach, say. The markets next to it were a bit more interesting, selling all sorts of stuff. We had to get some cookies to bring back to Sydney. ... read more

Geo: 22.2027, 113.541We visited the Macau Tower today. Quite a feat. Can't remember the stats on it but the view from up there was good. You could see all of Macau from up there. At the lobby there was a lego replica of the tower. Also various Warner Brothers characters were on display, like Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. We even found Doraemon. At the top of the tower, you could either bungee jump down or just jump down with safety ropes of course. Walking on the top floor, some areas of the top floor have transparent glass so you can literally see below your feet. After this we visited the Fisherman's wharf. It was quite amazing. All the buildings had influences of China, Roman and even Greek. Anyway there wasn't too much to see so we ... read more

Geo: 22.2027, 113.541We arrived at Macau from the ferry. It was a pleasant one hour ferry ride to Macau. First thing I noticed was a race director's box with the words Macau GP below it. I never knew it had a GP!From the ferry terminal there were a heap of buses, from most casinos, transporting people from the ferry to the hotels/casinos free of charge. We thought we only had a couple of bags with us so we'd do the touristy things first.Off we went by taxi to St Paul's ruins. St Paul's church was burnt down and all that remains is one big facade standing. A lot of tourists are there and taking photos with it. On the way to St Paul's ruins are all the shops and houses and they seem to have kept ... read more

Geo: 33.59, 130.41We arrived in Fukuoka after a few hours. It was nice on the train, clean, comfortable and enjoyable. Once we arrived, we visited a shopping mall and Winnie had a milkshake. We were tempted to go into the street stalls and try the food there but because it was so close to dinner we didn't.We had some sort of shabu shabu for dinner but then came the Y8500 steak we paid for. Those cows were bred in Hokkaido and even given beer in their diet. The meat melted in your mouth once you took a bite. No sauce needed for that!Once we got into the hotel, we hadn't even unpacked yet when Winnie rushed to the toilet. Why the rush? I thought...oh yeah she's lactose intolerant... ... read more

Geo: 31.59, 130.56After leaving the hotel, we went to Kagoshima. We went at the top of the mountain where we were given a view of the city. Between breakfast and lunch, Winnie decided to have an ice cream. Personally I thought it was too early but she had one anyway. For lunch we had sushi and it was the most yummy, freshest sushi. No one does sushi like the Japanese! I could have had 2 servings, they were that delicious. After lunch we went to the train station to take the train back up to Fukuoka. We went fast but after a while, nothing is felt and all you do is go to sleep for the long journey North.... read more

Geo: 31.7994, 131.46We arrived in Aoshima in the evening for our stay overnight. The place was literally on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The hotel itself had nice views of the ocean, On the walk back from the beach to the hotel, I saw the most expensive mango I have ever seen in my life. Y5000 for one. Must be a very good mango for that price.... read more
