Geo: 3.12433, 101.684The day started off quite slowly with us packing and waiting until 11.30am to check out. We didn't do much except watch a bit of tv. On checking out, I realised that they didn't apply the 15% discount we were entitled to as 'MyTime' guest. The cashier told us that I should have said that I'm a MyTime guest to the waiter so that I would get the discount applied straight away but no one told me that at the start! How would I know, I thought it would all be in the system. Anyway after a few minutes of the cashier checking my bill, it was all sorted. We caught Malaysian Airlines back to Kuala Lumpur and the trip to the hotel took 45 minutes! Anyway, once settled, we took our Singaporean money and ... read more

Geo: 6.32, 99.85Today we hired a driver as I figured that if we hired a car and there was an accident, it'll be on me and I'd have a lot of headache so I didn't bother and rather get someone else to drive us. At the end of the day, he was actually quite a good driver, waited for us when needed and picked us up promptly so I was happy with him.First up was Telaga Tujuh ie Seven Wells – we didn't actually go to the Seven Wells but just saw the waterfall. That was quite spectacular, I have never seen or been so close to a natural waterfall and it was flowing down the cliff, maybe from 15 metres. The climb up there was quite hard though, thanks to my superior level of fitness, ... read more

Geo: 6.32, 99.85Today we went to the Oriental Village where the cable car is. It's not called the Oriental Village for nothing! It does look oriental and like a village! It looked like some Korean tv series was shot here as well as they had some pictures to show it and the landscape was left there as well. Onto the cable car, the first part of the ride was quite scary. I had my back to the mountain so I didn't really see what was coming. It was quite a steep climb to it and the other lady in our car was quite scared especially when the cable car was moving. Once we reached the first station, the view was quite good as we saw the Oriental Village, the rainforest, the mountains and the ocean. From ... read more

Geo: 6.32, 99.85Today we went on a mangrove tour. On the way there, we passed a few villages and I sweat they looked the same as those that I am used to seeing in Mauritius. They looked exactly the same. We were driven to a jetty where we caught a boat. First up was a rock where it was made of limestone with trees/mangroves growing out of it. Our guide was very informative and told us that only in South East Asia you would see those limestone islands coming out of the ocean, like there and Vietnam for example. On those trees were bats, bats live there to get away from predators. If a monkey was let out here, there would be no bats. The only predator they fear is the eagle and that's why when ... read more

Geo: 6.32, 99.85We did the island hopping tour today and coming back to the hotel and thinking about it, I thought it was pretty good. We were picked up very promptly at 8.30am from the hotel and driven for half an hour to Pantai Cenang. We were picked up by boat firstly to visit the Pregnant Maiden Island. The boat to go there was quite quick and very breezy so it helped with the heat! I had to take off my cap in case it flew off! On the way there we passed a few islands which appeared to just come up from the sea. All you would see is the island, trees and the sea. Some of them had a few cliffs. Anyway, the Pregnant Maiden Island is so called because of the shape of ... read more

Geo: 6.32, 99.85We had a to wake up quite early today as the flight was on at 10.55am. We caught Air Asia to Langkawi as it seemed the cheapest and most direct way to get there from Singapore. Getting on Air Asia was similar to getting on Jetstar or Virgin. The flight wasn't too packed with about half the plane empty and no one in business class. The airport though was busy. We were held up by 10 minutes but the arrival time was the same. We got to our resort and were treated to a complimentary welcome drink. So far the service has been much better than Miramar. A very nice welcome was given to us. We were given a one bedroom studio in the rainforest but with partial views of the sea. The studio ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.85Day 4 started off with us trying to find food. After walking around aimlessly around Clarke Quay and finding absolutely nothing to eat, we hailed a cab back to Chinatown. Lucky the guy was Chinese and said since we hadn't had breakfast already, he would take us where there definitely was food. We ended up in Hong Lim Square and found heaps of food. We had 2 plates of cheung fan and a bowl of meatball congee with the fried dough sticks. After happily filling our tummies, we went to Universal Studios Singapore. This was way better than Legoland. The first world we went to was Hollywood. It wasn't so bad, just a big street filled with American themed shops and restaurants. We just missed the Hollywood Theatre Show but that's ok, we didn't mind ... read more

Geo: 1.48, 103.75The day started early and this is probably so far the most tiring day! We went to the Singapore flyer to check in at 8am for our tour to Legoland. It was quite easy, just telling them the name and then they checked you in. A week ago, the bus was empty but as I sat in the bus, more and more people came in and it was almost full by the time we left! Half the bus was adults and the other half, kids!! I guess Legoland is more for kids than adults. To get to Johor Bahru, we had to go through 2 sets of customs, one to exit Singapore and the other to enter Malaysia. There is a bridge to cross Singapore and Malaysia, which I'll call the neutral zone between the ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.85The day started off with breakfast across the road at Boomarang. We had The Ashes consisting of toast, baked beans, tomatoes, bacon, mushroom, scramble eggs and chicken sausage. Waikit had pancakes which were very thick and very nice according to him. Mike had scrambled eggs...then complained that it was the same as Australia! After breakfast we went to Sentosa Island. There wasn't much there, except for a giant Merlion. This Merlion didn't spit water out. It was there overlooking towards Singapore. Elsewhere on the island, we went to see the sky tower, the cable car and Palawan Beach. Winnie had a go at the Segway and she said it was fun and no way that one tour was enough but she got a taste of it and seemed to have fun. Palawan Beach had an island ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.85Day 1 started with us getting off at KLIA in transit. We landed at around 4.15am local time and our flight wasn't taking off until 8.05am. So we went around the airport looking around. KLIA has changed a lot since the last time I was here more than 15 years ago. It's more modernised and now has 2 terminals which are connected by a driverless train.KLIA is actually quite a good airport now. I remember it used to be quite chaotic but now it seems less so. There are shops and a couple of places there were shops and shops selling only chocolate! Harrods' even set up shop here. It's a bit like Singapore where every gate has a security screening. It seems that KL is now also a bit like Singapore, being used ... read more
