Grenada We went to an Oil Down, I think that's what they called it) on Hog Island. It was a huge plate of mystery meat and mystery veggies. I think they were planning a resort on the island. Has anything come of that?
Happy 4th of July Bob & Janice,
Marti and I have visited Grenada a couple times in the recent past and it is a very nice place. Good to be getting south for the hurricane season. We are going kayaking today, not the same as cruising but on the water anyway.

is this Paradise??? What truly incredible views and knock out gorgeous places to visit. Does it ever amaze you that people can be so nice and places so beautiful in their own way??? Living her in the heart of the Finger Lakes, .... we sometimes forget how truly blessed we are until we talk to visitors who are in awe of it all. Complacency is a disease...LOL [really wish you had spell check in this thing] When I see specials about Mt. St. Helens, the thought of choking on the ash really disturbs me. It can be so destructive. I am dying to ask..."do you take notes as you go around on your travels or do you just have brilliant memories???" I take notes on your blogs just so I can sound semi-intelligent when asking your questions or commenting on what you say or pictures you have displayed. Keep up the good work. Love you...hope Sailor is still doing well....and you are able to get his special food. cyndie
hello again WOW!!! the architecture is absolutely stunning, and add in the colorful dress and fruits at the market and it is a real buffet for the senses. I love looking at the ports, marinas, or harbors, whatever they are called. The look so peaceful and clean,..makes me miss our boat more. There have been a few low depressions reported in the Atlantic,...hope you are in a good place for now. I'm guessing that since your boat is going to rest in Trinidad...you will be returning there and continuing on your quest...just remember...there is NO safe distance from Somalia!!!! You think I am obsessing about pirates??? YES I AM...get used to it. LOL Didn't know that sewing was part of your many talents...guess it is just "building",...just different materials and different tools. You finished product looks good and quite functional. Let me know how it works the next time it rains. ;o) And for the flags...when we owned the Maxum, I always wanted to make a quilt out of the naval flags,...but never got around to it. Sorry I didn't do that. Are you going to fly them or display them,...or actually use them to send messages? They are so colorful,...however, have to admit that if I saw one hoisted up someone's mast...I would have to refer to my card to see what the message was. [memory goes first or second...can't remember...;o) ] Well, take care and safe sailing. Looking forward to seeing you. Have you found a place to stay or are you going to consider the RV? Always remember,...the offer was for real. We are going for short trip to the Salamanca area...then nothing until Sept...when I want to return to the Maine shore. Take care, hope Janice's cold is in remission, and safe sailing...love ya, cyndie
Like to join you... Dear Janice and Bob,
I'm following your great journey with growing excitement. Your Blog on Martinique makes me want to join you. It's not because of the destilleries alone, the whole place seems to be wonderful to live. It is so good that you add many fotos which give a vivid impression of the country, architecture and the people and your fotos are excellent.
Wish you always good winds.
Love, Achim

hello friends It sounds like you are still enjoying your dream...we just returned from a short vacation in VT on the RV...so fully understand setting up for travel after sitting for a while. I usually leave at least one thing that goes crashing down on the first corner or a drawer that is not secured. Always a challenge. lol We followed a former teacher, Bill Gates,...[not the $ one.. ;o) ], started teaching with Bill and retired the same year. His son lives in Proctor, VT, so Bill G stayed in his son's driveway and we stayed in a neighbor's driveway. It is where the Vermont Marble Co was and we toured the museum, along with the Bennington Monument, Shelburn village, Grandma Moses Museum, and took a 100 mile loop tour guided by book. Back to your trip...love the pics, but the sunset taken as you were doing your overnite sail was incredible. Just a note, when you visit a place and have a great time,...try to return and recapture it...never happens. I think it is more about newness and the people you are with the first time around. Sounds like the French are more $ conscious than the Dutch, except for the wine you used to restock. Does it compare to the NY wine? Since you "seem" to enjoy wine, you have more experience with the liquid than me... so just curious. ;o) I love seeing all of the colors in the markets that you visit. Have you tried any new produce that maybe we don't have here? And not to gross you out,...but...how do you avoid disrupting your bio rhythms with all of the different food and drinks you ingest? When I went to Europe for 5 weeks with 72 high schoolers, 7 nuns, and 2 other teachers...nothing sat well. Made me afraid to eat...except when we entered Switzerland...what is not to like about their chocolate and pastries???? Didn't mean to take all your time telling you about me....must be too much caffeine. One more thing,...bought frozen salmon that was already marinated...salmon is now officially out of my cooking list. You did a great job on it,...I will just live with the memory and call it good. lol Take care and stay well, my friends. Good sailing to you and may you keep meeting wonderful people, seeing beautiful things, and enjoying the time you have together. Loving you, cyndie
One step at a time to circumnavigation Hey guys, Great to get your update. St. Maartin sounds wonderful. We will be in Oregon end of July. Please email us when you are back state side with a phone number I can call you on. Be safe and godspeed!
thank you I didn't want to complain...but it was the first thing I thought of...LOL I have extracted some of your sunsets and sunrises on a memory stick and tend to have them printed out...These two are definitely in the running. How absolutely beautiful!!! I know scientifically the colors are caused by all kinds of things,...but to me,...they are truly mystical and make me all warm and fuzzy. [whatever the heck that means??!!] thanks again, cyndie ;o)
Party! Party! Party! Hello Friends,
You have been out there traveling on Tsamaya for almost 8 months...and to sum it all up...seems like you do a lot of partying, nite capping, and throw in a little sailing, hiking, touring,...and end with a party. LOL Sure sounds like a lot of good times and imagined dreams. St. John's and St. Thomas sounds a lot better than the Walmarts and McD's in PR. On our trips, we use McD's for senior coffee because the flavor is consistent and the price is right. After coaching for 25 years,...we DO NOT EAT there. The alleys of Charlotte Amalie looks like those in Charleston. Love that look. The colors of the costumes, the details, etc were amazing. So bright and happy colors. And talk about music...absolutely LOVE steel bands, especially when the pans sound rich and not tinny. There used to be one called Pangia out of Pittsford, NY. I followed them around to all the festivals...not a groupy,...but close. LOL Spring is really in full bloom here in central NY and I love to walk around the Cornell campus before and after proctoring at the law school final exams. Of course they are grooming it for graduation, but the colors and feeling on campus is extraordinary. Their lacrosse team is headed for the NCAA Championship, seeded #2 behind Syracuse. Larry Postle and I are enjoying the battle between the two schools, Larry being SU fan and I love the "brainiacs". Bill and I took Larry up to Schoelkoff last Sunday for the Ivy League Tournament Championship Game...Cornell beat Harvard 15-5. Great day, great game, and great first visit to the live action for Larry. Ahhhhh, but I diverse,...back to your blog. It is great to hear you are going to return to your family and friends for a while this summer. Would absolutely love to see you two and give you each a hug, but I know you will be torn in a bazillion different directions, so I will wait patiently and see what happens...LOL. I will also keep an eye out for a vacant house..assuming you want it to be liveable, right? We have an RV, but boat to RV might not be what you want. If you need a temp place, do not hesitate to ask. Take care friends, love ya, stay well,...cyndie
Just saying hello I don't know if you remember us Mike Michelle and baby Joshua. We first met in Elizibeth City and we last saw you in wrightsville beach. I hadn't looked at your blog in a while. Its nice to hear your doing well, last we talked you were not sure if you would go back north or south for the summer I see you decided. We ended up going to the Bahamas for a few months now were heading back up the ICW. Whats your plan for hurricane season?
Fair winds and following seas

Arecibo - NAIC - my first job a Cornell Wasn't that place fantastic. When I first went to Arecibo I went up on the telescope. The views are magnificent, but scary when you have a fear of height as I do! We drove under the dish which conceals orchids and other beautiful fauna. It's magical for sure. Glad you got a chance to see it.
Best.
Nelson
night sights As I read your comments about what you can see in the dark I was reminded of the evening we spent on your boat on Cayuga and saw the northern lights. That's something you won't be seeing for a while on your boat now. Growing up in northern New England, I had often seen them, but they were never more beautiful than when we were nearly surrounded by them.
Keep the observations coming. I like to know what you are thinking as well as what you are seeing.
Love,
Mary
you are not forgotten!! just a quick Hi -- I still volunter at the library on Mondays and it is the only time I get to use a computer (and that is only we finish sorting books early) If you remember our computer died and we decided not to replace it when we retired.
I will send you snail mail soon - I promise!! Will have time write while we are on vacation - Leaving for Maine on Easter Sunday.
Next time I get a few minutes will read all of your blog. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time.

Georgetown Glad to hear that you arrived safely. Really enjoy reading about the places you've been and the descriptions you add along with the pictures. The weather looks ideal, sure beats snow...which we are suppose to get about 10" of today! I love visiting the islands, but prefer flying...can't get use to the idea of traveling on water for any length of time. As I keep saying, you guys are braver than I am. Happy sailing and stay safe!

Reads like you're having a great time. Sorry to hear about the refrigerator part, but you're on your way again. Nice pics too. Jim is up in VA working on Heather. Going to put the centerboard back in on TH, cutless bearing, shaft and stuffing box on the agenda too. Working out the final plan for solar above the bimini...yeah more time at anchor. He spent a week at our rental in Swansboro. Tenant leaving end of month so putting it on the market. Plenty to do to get it ready to present to buyers and will stop on his way home for round 2. I'm volunteering 2 days a week doing taxes and getting the yard in shipshape for spring. Plenty to get organized for our trip back to Heather in early May. Glad to hear you are enjoying the cruising lifestyle. We are looking forward to a bit or relaxation ourselves.
Cheers, joanne
Nice to meet you... ...at the top of Boo Boo Hill yesterday! I enjoyed reading your blog. When you head south, look for Gigi's Island and Victoria Gaye--both are also Caliber 40's and very nice folks!

Great to hear from you Kate - that will be exciting being in the new auditorium. We have heard we really are missing quite the winter up north. We are enjoying being in shorts and t-shirts in February! Best wishes to you both - thanks for the contact!
hi from the Gulf Coast GREAT blog news! Thanks for the updates. Glad to hear you are safely at Miami, enjoying a few days and preparing for your next phase of this great adventure! Safe sails, friends!! We'll be thinking of you!
Love,
Dave and Peg
thinking We enjoy your blog entries and think of you both often. You are 'missing' quite the weather and winter of 2011! It must be so wonderful to be in shorts all day and on the water as well. Have always yearned to swim year round, maybe someday, when we retire! The spring production is Cinderella on a huge new stage, with 16 ft tall platforms instead of 8! Take Care Kate and Gary Hunt
As always, love to see the pictures and read all of the information. You look so happy. Stay safe, healthy and happy and keep in touch. Love to all, Lynn
Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Our reasons for publishing this blog is twofold, first to keep in touch with our friends and family and secondly to share our experiences. If you would like to receive notification when we have added ... full info
