Safe Travels We have enjoyed reading about your plans in the local paper. We will enjoy sharing your adventure from our home in Lodi! Fair winds and a following sea!
Bob and Jan - We wish you the very best in retirement. If you can sail there!!! we can fly there!!! You can't be by yourselves all the time. Love - Uncle Charlie and Lynn
Bittersweet congratulations, Bob! As a child of two educators, I know about the "family" you leave behind when you retire, but I'm happy to say, as with any family, as you know, they will always be there for you. I'm so excited for both of you and look forward to what retirement and your travels bring.
Hi! Hi - found your blog by searching for "Caliber and sailboat and blog". We have a Hunter 405 in a slip in Oriental NC - just sail weekends and an occasional 2 week trip now then. We've seen some Caliber boats and think this is the choice we'd like for our future sailing plans. Good luck and I've bookmarked you - so I'll check in periodically.
Good Luck Hey guys..it's all pretty exciting ! Otto and I lived on Lake Michigan from mid April thru end of November on our boat..it's fun..and very interesting..It was a good place for Otto to rest and recuperate...we wish you smooth sailing and friendly seas..watch out for the crazy pirates...miss you and all our wild and crazy times on Cayuga Lake..Ontario was great too. Be good. Be safe. Love You, Bev and Otto
Thanks for the economic boost! What a wonderful way to spend the Columbus Day weekend! It sounds like you both have a lot of work to do now, but it obviously is a labor of love!
glad you are enjoying the blog - leaving this Thursday for the Annapolis boat show with another very expensive shopping list so we have more projects to do. Hope things are going well - you'll have to definitely plan on visiting us on our travels -we'd love to have you along! - Janice
Some ending!! This gives me a whole new meaning to "arm chair traveler"; I'll be your "dingy traveler" and follow along from behind and enjoy your wonderful experiences on the water. Yes, the things you have to make/rig to secure boat parts is amazing. Our little 21' is nothing compared to what you need to know and use. I look forward to your continued adventures and water excursions. take care.
Retirement looks great! Wow - even though it's end of season I'm envious beyond belief. The boat looks great! I love the bells and whistles you've installed for the trip. Miss you around campus; wish I was heading out with you!
Canal beauty Bob and Janice...we will miss you at Sackets but what a great start to your journey. Kevin and I have not experienced the canal so it is wonderful to live vicariously through your experiences. Beautiful pictures!!
Have a warm winter..
Peggy
you are courageous people I am not used to comment blogs.
Thank you for your message. I like to follow your trips.
Hope you can sell you house well and than start the adventure
I'm lovin' it! Hey, what a great idea! I'm so excited for you both. The map is an especially nice touch. I love your boat's name. What's its signifance? It's probably better than my retirement plans: playing games with grandchildren, but that's a lot of fun too.
Congratulations Janice, on your retirement. If you're looking for company, I'm free and easy to entertain.
Bob, don't your promise of first dibs at your garage sale.
Thanks for sharing, love, Sue
hat's off to you! My hat's off to you both. Great blog and great promising adventures in your future! I shall live vicariously through your eyes as I continue to slave at my desk. :-)
Goodwishes to you both, always,
Kay
Bob,
I loved your blog. You are right I can't see my sister eating bondons or watching soap operas. Hurray, for the tech support. It sure is great when you are only a phone call away. Thanks for making this blog, it really helps to keep us informed on how, and what you, and Janice are doing. So sorry, that the sailing has come to an end. Next year will be another story.
Love, Sue
Bob and Janice,
It sounds like a great trip. I am so glad you got to enjoy yourselves on your boat, and are getting the feel of your new sails. I really enjoy reading about your adventures. This is such a great way to keep us up to date. Congratulations on your 35th year together.
Love, Sue
Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Our reasons for publishing this blog is twofold, first to keep in touch with our friends and family and secondly to share our experiences.
