Sailing Trip Enjoyed the update. Sorry I couldn't get up to see your boat and you before leaving. Have been really busy here and barely any time for anything. I don't think I ever asked how long you plan for your first trip, or, are you just planning to travel for a period of time before returning to your home port?
Wishing you a safe and pleasant trip. Enjoy paradise!
Best,
Nelson
So sorry we missed your party. We thought we might make it and now I can't remember why we didn't. I think we were out and didn't make it back to Sackets on that Sunday. In any case, so glad to see that you are on your way! Will be keeping up with your travels via this blog. Have a save and wonderful trip!

A different August for you Well , the students are back in Ithaca, we are getting ready for our own return to school. We have been busy planning pre-service, Cathy is under lots of pressure to place teachers in make shift classrooms, we spent a whole day interviewing aide candidates, the CSe meetings have begun, new special needs students have moved in to the District....sound like fun??????
So I am really enjoying the fact that i can tune into your blog and enjoy your adventures. What a nice break from this reality! I look forward to reading more.
Great Start! Thanks so much for the blog entry and photos. What a great start. Sorry we couldn't make it to the Boat open house; celebrated my Mom's 89th birthday instead that day. Hope to have a tour when you all get back! We sure send love and good vibes for a safe voyage and look forward to each and every entry in your blog.
very impressive - miss you Great Pictures!!! I'm also trying to downsize ... and I'm not even moving!! Too difficult for me,...so congrats on your successful task and you are still wed. Nice partnership. Bill has asked me every day if I have heard anything from you yet so when I opened the mail today, we were excited and shared your travels and pics together. Sailor is the perfect pet! Doesn't bark, jump on people, chase cats [;o)], or beg for your food. Pictures of the canal made us remember of our trip out to Brockport on the canal, ... best highway in the US. Keep those pics coming and blogs so we can track you. [not stalk, but track...] You also taught me new word..."landlubbers"...thought it was "landlovers" - I do math, not language. Good luck and my prayers and thoughts are with you always. love ya both, oh...and Sailor... cyndie [WARNING: If I wait too long for "blog"...I will be forced to email and annoy you daily]
Miss you already! Hi Janice,
I wanted to apologize for not making it to the "open boat." I ended up having a family reunion that day in Madison, NY and didn't make it back into town until 9PM that night. I mostly wanted to give you a hug as it is likely to be some time before we see each other again and wish you safe travels. I look forward to the blog updates and hope that some day our paths can cross again. Take care and have the time of your lives!!!!
I looked for you I looked for you folks on my way back from New England as the Thruway went along side the canal. I don't know what I'd have done if I saw you because I'm pretty sure they frown on people coming to a screeching stop in thruway traffic so they can jump out and wave to friends.
thanks Thanks - don't be surprised if you don't get a call from us when we are in your area - thanks for the invitation to do so - we just may need a ride to the laundrymat or the grocery store!! Take care - Janice
Open "House" Janice and Bob, I regret I won't be able to attend the event on the 8th. I'll be away with some members of my family.
I so enjoy reading your blogs. I wish you both a wonderful future. Such an adventure and I think you're both very brave for undertaking this lifestyle after retirement. You're doing something most of WISH we could do. You've had so much to do to prepare. We just sold our house and moved up to the Northeast area of Ithaca and had a mountain of stuff to do. We gave away so much of our accumulated stuff from 41 yrs. of marriage. I can't imagine the task of actually selling, donating, throwing away and categorizing all of that into piles. Wishing you well. Looking forward to hearing from you in the future. Janice when we visit our daughter in Malta, NY I always think of you. Where in Malta does your family live. I recall you saying your grandmother lived on Rt. 9 once. We go up and down that road, both directions frequently.
BonVoyage Hi,
In light of all the moving activities that are going on and will be going on, in addition to having to work, we will not be able to make your "open house". Charlie will be working 12 hr night shift on that weekend and I will be cleaning, packing, moving and gathering stuff for a garage sale the following weekend. You know that we wish you the very best and will appear at your home someday, where it is warm, of course. Would love to hear the details though of your gathering!!! See you soon,
Love to all, Lynn and Charlie
We'll be there! Hi Janice and Bob: August 1 is perfect for us since our family reunion will take place in PA on July 31. We can bring a cooler with beer and wine and some snack type foods (and chairs). Looking forward to your party event! Great to see you two at the burn. I see my family in there - Patti, Mike, Don and Gail (from NYC). <: OH, and I just noticed ME sitting down (in red jacket). So, you got all of US. You two will need a much needed rest after your "move". I remember our neighbors (Jim, Judy Trudy) in their move to Florida; they were exhausted for weeks.
Take care. All the best,
Marian and Don
GREAT Update! Great update and rundown of all that you have been up to in just the last month alone? Didn't find where you mentioned your emergency appendix surgery, just added for a bit more adventure, I would say! :- )
Will enjoy staying "up" with you through your writings but really hope I will get to see you before you set sail, way too soon!
Great pictures LOve the new entry in the blog. Saw some pictures of your projects, which are really good. You doa g ood job of letting us all know what's going on, Lots to do yet I am sure, but you will do it. Take care and don't work too hard.
Going to miss you! Janice, your comment about never getting back to Ithaca made me very sad, but also very envious in that you will be traveling the world and living out a dream! I hope I'm able to make the "open house" but if not, I just know I'll run into you somewhere and I travel the world following my daughter! I only wish I was a brave as you to follow a dream. I wish you and Bob safe travels and can't wait to see the world through your eyes!
great to hear from you Great to hear from you - just this weekend we were packing up our year's of photos to put into storage and came across many of the dive trips with you and Paul - it was great going down memory lane! Probably will be some time til we try the Rio Grande, but you can always come to meet us in the Caribbean - just keep in touch so we can arrange a connection point - it would be great fun (and also a chance to finally meet Vicki) - take care - thanks for touching base again!
no title Hallo, Janice and Bob, I do not know, whether you ever got my short notice, because I have no experience with blogs. I'd like it much better to get a nice mail from you and to answer.
I like very much to be retired. It's good to have so much time. You know that I have a very sweet grand daughter in Berlin, the daughter of Christiane and Philipp. She is now 16 month and likes very much to go into the kindergarden for the littleones. I myself could never think of taking my child in such age to a playschool. But, visiting in Berlin, I noticed how happy she is there. She starts talking now. I´m so happy to watch her devellopment.
I did also some travelling. One week on the river Nil in Egypt. So super!! Now we are planning to spend 2 weeks in the south of France and in summer we want to get to know the noth east part of Germany. I'm just organizing this, therefore I tell you this. Im looking foreward to meeting you at the french or spanish coast some day. Lots of love from Angelika
thanks Sorry we have been negligent in working on our blog but things have been crazy as getting house to put on the market - that is now done so we can concentrate on the boat. Glad to have you along for the ride - thanks for checking in on us!
Congratulations Hi Bob, I was jusst looking at your web, like all the new pictures and to see the presents you received from all the people at school. You must have had a real good time. I like the shirt you had on the last day of school. Dond't work too hard now that you are retired. Glad Ken could come down to help out over the weekend. So much easier when there are two doing a job. Take it easy remember you are retired now. Love Mom
New Doors Hi,
I enjoy reading your updates. I like the new door!! While you are sailing we will be shoveling snow, snow and more snow!!!!
Again, enjoy your retirement.
Love to all,
Lynn and Charlie
Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Our reasons for publishing this blog is twofold, first to keep in touch with our friends and family and secondly to share our experiences. If you would like to receive notification when we have added ... full info
