thanks! great to hear from you! Just the other day we were talking and thought about you two and wondered where you are, how you are doing and also how are the book sales going? I have a HS friend that is an author and guess that got us thinking - gee, we actually know a couple of authors personally now. Funny what things can trigger various memories and of course it came back to Trinidad and meeting you and others there. Nice that you are still following along and that your names pop up at times
really old stuff Dear Friends,
This blog contained some very, very old stuff...not often you see remnants of BC timing. With all of the museums, cathedrals, castles, etc that you have entered, photographed, and blogged about, do they all run together eventually? Really interesting, but the history of hospital care caught my attention. Two patients to a bed? heat for the upper echelon? I guess there has always been a separation between "classes"...even today. I am amazed at the fact that the hospital was attacked in two different wars or uprisings, and it survived. That makes me wonder if it is the poor armaments or better builders. Probably the fact that man has chosen to up the game in destruction and weapons...sad. I did enjoy the pictures and believing that mathematically speaking, the arches that are so prevalent is because they are the strongest shape as the blocks fortify each other.
From home,...we are in a stalled high pressure right now and getting 80's and higher, with no rain. That brings on different weeds of course,...but when I mow, it is a cloud of dust and a hi ho Silver. Followed by about 3 hours of sneezing. I tried a mask, however my glasses fog up and I run into fences and trees. Not cool. So,..why not wear goggles? Because I am already creepy looking without looking like I am cutting toxic lawn. A lot of trees have suffered from the early warm up followed by a brutal freeze. I have seen it before, but the apples and grapes are going to take a hit. Too bad, but regardless of what some says...you have no control over Mother Nature,...it is a crap shoot. That is why I. believe farmers are the biggest risk takers in the world.
Well, done babbling on, have a great day, or night,...and keep enjoying the world with Tsamaya. hugs,...cyndie
Looking forward to your new year of sailing!!! Perhaps when you return the cat will be waiting for you! And thanks for the memories of a day of sailing, swimming, and eating on a boat off the Turkish Coast! Linda and I did the same on 3 May 1992, hosted by the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
Glad you made it home safe and sound. Truly enjoyed reading about your trips and all the interesting things you saw and did. A belated Happy Birthday to both of you! It was interesting to discover that Bob's b'day is the same as my mothers! Also have an aunt on the 24th and another aunt on the 25th as well. Cluster celebration! Amy asked me to tell you hello the next time I wrote, so..hello!
Always enjoy reading your blogs. Love the history you give for each area and enjoy your personal commentary. I am assuming that by now you are back in the US. Have a wonderful Fall and Winter "rest".
Your summer... I have enjoyed reading about your house/pet sitting all around the UK. I'm sorry to hear about all the problems with the boat when you got back. At least you were in the right place to get everything fixed. So next year to head west. You will definitely need everything in working order to cross the Atlantic! I look forward to reading those blogs.
thanks for your comments really enjoy your comments - sorry I don't do the same very often on yours, but whenever we are away our wifi is not the best so when I do hunt down good connections I seem to forget to get back to doing these. I have definitely enjoyed your postings! Our goal next season is to southern Spain and then decide if we cross the pond that winter or wait another year and enjoy the Med for 1 more season - time will tell!
Views from the train Never ceases to amaze me that on trains I am the only one not looking at or totally absorbed in my mobile phone or similar item. Great to see there is someone else in the World who looks out the window and watches the World go by. When overseas my mobile is at the bottom of my bag and sometimes is never pulled out.
Train windows are for looking out! I agree Dave- am always amazed that it seems like I am the only one that looks out the window - always surprises me as they miss so much my way of thinking!
cat names those are the cats names - the woman is French and her husband is half British/half French so that may be the reason for the names as definitely know they pronounced them different than we did!
St.Albans trip Lovely pics!! Happy to receive your update and see ya out and about again. I really hope Bob is feeling better and hope he almost pain free
The Y says hi! Dear Janice and Bob,
This is Naomi from the Battenkill YMCA! I want to let you know we received your postcard and are so glad to hear you are both doing well. We miss you here, and look forward to your return.
Janice, I hope your arm is not causing you any trouble.
Stay cool and hydrated, guys!
Best wishes,
Naomi and your other friends at the Y ?
Possible meet up Hi Bob & Janice,
It’s many years since our paths last crossed!
We last spoke when we met over drinks in TTSA way back in Trinidad. We recall you commenting on how the Caribbean was rather uninteresting and at that time we suggested you might consider exploring Europe in Tsamaya. You’ve obviously not looked back since then and have travelled extensively.
By chance we now find ourselves in the same area as you and wondered if a little ‘reunion’ drink might be appropriate if you were free?
We expect to be at anchor in the Orhaniye Bay area, just to the east of Marmaris around the 27th of June for a few days and wondered if, between us, we could come up with a plan to say ‘hi’.
If you are up for the idea then any suggestions you might have would be good.
Hope to speak soon and hope all is well.
Peter and Bridget

Portugal Hello, Love the latest blog! If you end up finding a buyer and exploring Portugal in the future, I have friends (that remind me a lot of the two of you!) that just bought a house there. The pictures they share are also as beautiful as yours. Maybe you could all meet up one day. :) Safe travels!
Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Our reasons for publishing this blog is twofold, first to keep in touch with our friends and family and secondly to share our experiences. If you would like to receive notification when we have added ... full info
