Views from the train Never ceases to amaze me that on trains I am the only one not looking at or totally absorbed in my mobile phone or similar item. Great to see there is someone else in the World who looks out the window and watches the World go by. When overseas my mobile is at the bottom of my bag and sometimes is never pulled out.
cat names those are the cats names - the woman is French and her husband is half British/half French so that may be the reason for the names as definitely know they pronounced them different than we did!
St.Albans trip Lovely pics!! Happy to receive your update and see ya out and about again. I really hope Bob is feeling better and hope he almost pain free
The Y says hi! Dear Janice and Bob,
This is Naomi from the Battenkill YMCA! I want to let you know we received your postcard and are so glad to hear you are both doing well. We miss you here, and look forward to your return.
Janice, I hope your arm is not causing you any trouble.
Stay cool and hydrated, guys!
Best wishes,
Naomi and your other friends at the Y ?
Possible meet up Hi Bob & Janice,
It’s many years since our paths last crossed!
We last spoke when we met over drinks in TTSA way back in Trinidad. We recall you commenting on how the Caribbean was rather uninteresting and at that time we suggested you might consider exploring Europe in Tsamaya. You’ve obviously not looked back since then and have travelled extensively.
By chance we now find ourselves in the same area as you and wondered if a little ‘reunion’ drink might be appropriate if you were free?
We expect to be at anchor in the Orhaniye Bay area, just to the east of Marmaris around the 27th of June for a few days and wondered if, between us, we could come up with a plan to say ‘hi’.
If you are up for the idea then any suggestions you might have would be good.
Hope to speak soon and hope all is well.
Peter and Bridget

Portugal Hello, Love the latest blog! If you end up finding a buyer and exploring Portugal in the future, I have friends (that remind me a lot of the two of you!) that just bought a house there. The pictures they share are also as beautiful as yours. Maybe you could all meet up one day. :) Safe travels!
thanks! appreciate your following and I enjoyed yours as well - you definitely have it on us for the amount of places you've traveled - as Bob says with traveling on a boat, we definitely go slower! Sounds like you have some great travel plans ahead. We definitely would recommend that you make it to Trinidad as we thoroughly enjoyed it there with the mixture of cultures. All the best for your travels as well!
thanks! great to hear from you and I was glad to find a software that worked and didn't take too long to learn for this old brain of mine! All the best and hopefully our travels will make it to FL in the future
Lovely! Hi Janice. It's Dominique from Exit 9. So nice to meet you the other day. I hope you enjoyed the wines I recommended. It's great to see your blog and the photos of all your travels. What adventures! All best.
thanks! sorry I didn't see your comment until today - it was great meeting you as well - (and we all definitely enjoyed the wines you recommended - they worked out very well for us all!
Head Coverings I wonder did you wear the scarf to keep your ears warm Janice, or was it required in the mosque? I will say that Bob looks downright native in his wool hat. Another great post. Merry/Happy to you both from SWFL
get away Happy Post Thanksgiving...
I really enjoyed all the pictures of the landscape. Gorgeous, the kind of beauty that is peaceful and calming. I always enjoy the sculptures, stone mosaics, and animals...but pretty sure I would be in trouble with the food. I know I have said it before, but you must have stomachs of iron that can take in and digest anything. I am like my four legged friends, ... change my diet and I am in trouble in about 8 hours. I particularly liked the picture of Bob following directions from you to stand next to the blocks,...looks like he is in time out.
I am gaining degrees on bending my knee,...the issue is swelling. At night, it looks like my foot is attached to a 300 pound individual...puffy, stubby toes. Look ridiculous and feel weird too. I need to talk to the PT gal today and ask how I can reduce the swelling in the leg without sitting perched with my leg up on a hassock. Annoying, but maybe part of the process. I just don't remember all the swelling in the leg before. Wednesday I go for X-rays,...hope they aren't checking to see if my legs are straight,...they never were.
So it sounds like you will be heading back to the states at some point? We had about 2" of snow last night, and would prefer wet over white, but it is what it is. Take care and stay well....let Bob out of time out. love ya, sending hugs,...cyndie
Market heaven It’s a joy to read your blog again.... I tend to save them up and treat them like a box set to follow your travels - especially good on a grey damp English day ! Love all the photos of the market , and it’s so nice to read about the generosity of people. Now that the engine and water is fixed I’m looking forward to sailing on with you .
Life is for living An extraordinary blog that reveals the myriad of skills and passions that you both have. How best to deal with lockdowns during Covid is evidenced. Can smell the cooking...feel the snow whipped up by the blower and admiring the building craftsmanship. Yet your baby is moored awaiting your return to Turkey. I raise my glass to you both.
thanks thanks as always for following along as well as for the comment. Yes, you are right - our baby is waiting for us and we are definitely looking forward to getting back to her
I'm staying tuned... I enjoyed reading about the ceremonial aspects of carpet buying. It reminded me of our ceremonies in Istanbul, Bukhara, Tunis, etc. Our planned trip to Edinburgh in late August deferred another year after United cancelled our flights. I just heard that they are resuming flights unit their partner airlines. However, Linda is so upset with this emotional roller coaster caused by governments reacting to Covid, that she doesn't want to re-book. Now I'm planning to do other trips on our list, but her list is slim to none. I'm hoping she will get her travel spirit back.
Turkey to JFK OMG! What a wonderful trip with so many memories! And love your photos...Istanbul looks like a wonderful place to visit and with so much history. "slow food" is the best way to taste what a city has to offer; love window shopping wherever we go. Thanks so so much for sharing. Wish you both good health and hope you get back to Tsamaya soon!!
Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Our reasons for publishing this blog is twofold, first to keep in touch with our friends and family and secondly to share our experiences. If you would like to receive notification when we have added ... full info
