Loving your blog Janice and Bob: What with remodeling a house and getting your sailboat ready for another sailing adventure you two are incredible. Don has also enjoyed reading about your adventures. Lovely pictures - like being there with you. We are remodeling the attic room and find that quite a challenge; at some point I will have a full bathroom upstairs -- maybe!!?? Don fully retires July 1 -- ha - he is already off in June for an NSF review in Washington State. Again, thank you for your lovely posts. Enjoy the sail and relax perhaps. Urk blog Hello Friends,
Didn't expect a blog from last Fall, but it was nice. Love the pictures of the marinas, boats, boat yards and water life in general. When you talked about the names of the souls lost at sea, just a reminder that we have no control over the power of nature, whether it is water, wind, storms, earthquakes or volcanic activity. So, why do people get puffed up and think that they are special. LOL We are such peons against such forces. [maybe I am just sick and tired of the Clintons and Trumps - AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!]
Is Bob on pain medicine to handle the hip issues, or exercises to lesson the impact? My PT actually took a great turn last week,....and I am walking better, and been on the motorcycle 3 times, including a 130 mile trip today on the CanAm Spyder with Bill on the back and accompanied by my cousin and her husband who also have a CanAm --- the same color. Kind of look like twins and we collect some looks for sure. Motorcycles were out in droves today, as we traveled over the hills to Hammondsport, then up 54A to Branchport and Penn Yan, then to 5 & 20, and finally down 89 to home. Bill was exhausted...oh yes...so was I. Home at 4,...slept until 6. LOL It was a lovely day and feels good to get out on the motorcycles again. I'm sure you are anxious to be on the Tsamaya again and living the life. The world is changing....so if you don't want to hear it again...skip to the last paragraph....be very aware and alert as you travel and attend festivals. I don't want to read about you in the paper or hear about you on GMA. okay? ;o)
Hoping you are crossing things off your list as you prepare to head out in a couple of weeks. My best wishes and love are with you always, and keep those blogs coming. You are my window to the world and I enjoy them immensely. love and hugs....xoxoxoxoxo...cyndie and Bill

I have thoroughly enjoyed your blogs.I find them informative and very positive.
thank you Thank you Bharat for the comment and glad that you are enjoying the blog. It was nice of you to comment on one of our older entries as it brought back memories of our travels from previous years!
Grou, Sneek, and Lemmer Good Morning, Friends,
Loved the pictures and tons of different boats. I can see where places like this and traveling through the canal is favored. You answered one question I had about ice on the canal. I figured that it might be difficult to use the boats in the winter, but do they leave them there or store them on dry dock. Checking their latitude means that it can get pretty cold there, but I also know that salt water has a much lower freeze temp. Just an interesting thing that pops into my head while looking, readying, and digesting.
Love the shops along the canal, which I believe just doubles the value and intrigue of the water ways. Traveling the Erie, the quiet between towns is nice, but docking and walking gives a whole new perspective of the areas. We enjoyed Fairport and Newark the most, but never traveled east of Oneida Lake. From time to time we talk about missing the boat, but just was not practical for us any more. Too much money and we stopped using it. Aging has a lot to do with decisions we make as I am sure you understand. Even the RV isjust sitting there, but just not ready to let it go. I am sure you are anxious to get back to the Tsamaya and continue on your adventures. Stay well, take care, and hoping to see you soon. hugs...xox...c & b
Thanks for following us! Dave - yes, we do enjoy our lifestyle and are looking forward to getting back to the boat in the spring and do more exploring in Europe. Now trying to balance between being in the US to help with family and our travel bug!
Back to our roots. Belated Merry Christmas & A Very Safe and Happy New Year. I moved back to upstate NY in May 2015. I am still kicking but not as high. Have seen Dave on T-burg streets but not to talk to. Connected with Jay and of course Keith(retired in June). TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE!
Visby Well,....between tearing down and building up? Loved the pictures of where you have visited,...BUT...have to tell you I really appreciate all of the sky shots, sunsets, storms, just great pics in general. What a nice approach shot of the church from Visby. Impressive, indeed. When you are on a power boat,...you often have to jump the bow rail....that was my job and got more difficult as my knee got worse. One of the reasons why the Maxum had to go.
For being constructed in1652, the Burneister House looks to be in GREAT shape. What's the saying?...."They don't make places like that any more". You must have enjoyed walking along the cobblestone roads, but guessing you didn't wear high heels. Any shoe higher than a moccasin or sneaker cold be a challenge. The church in ruins still looks great, even elegant. Wonderful that people can see the power in not destroying them and putting up modern churches. Gives people a chance to pause and imagine what "was". Funny, getting caught up in all the sequential pictures of the people dressed in medieval costumes...then "click" the next picture and see modern buildings. :o)
Well, thank you for this blog and pray you are not wearing yourselves out with renovations. Summer is fleeting by too quickly, and not the summer I was imagining, but no one can plan the future with any certainty. Guessing you are learning that lesson too if you didn't already know it. T-burg apparently survived Grassroots,....TONS of people and of course, our annual downpours and heavy winds, followed by 90+ and muggy days. I am not that dedicated to music or gatherings to endure that mess. Take care, stay well, and sending hugs. cyndie & Bill
thanks so enjoying the very informative revisits to what is a very sad moment in the history of western mankind. balanced with the news of today and what is happening in eastern Europe/Russia one wonders what was learned. travel safely my friends.
Learning about my own culture This was fascinating - have grown up around May Day festivals in the UK all my life and don't know even half of what you guys found out. Thanks for "being the tourist and asking" on all of our behalves!
glad we could help! HI Liz - thanks for the comment - glad we could help in some small way of sharing what we have learned about your beautiful country & its folk dances!
Hi, so glad you are realizing your dream. Bud and I have been busy since retirement in 2009 as well. We have been to Alaska, Mexico and many island in the Carribean. Took the family to the Atlantis two years ago and did a Disney cruise this past summer. Headed to Hilton Head with everyone in July and to New Hampshire with my daugher's family in September. But our trip of a lifetime was last February when we were gone for almost six weeks. Fiji, Australia, Taz, New Zealand and Tahiti. It was awesome swimming in the Barrier Reef, Climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge, riding camel by Ayres Rock, riding the Ghan Train into the outback (overnight), saw the TAz devil, Mt. Cook in New Zealand, Pet and fed the kangaroos, koloas. Saw a play at the Sydney Opera house...the list goes on and on. Would love to continue to read your blog and hear about your travels. Any luck with the timeshare thing in Hawaii. All best wishes and safe travels. Jane
It is always nice to hear from the both of you. I enjoy the historical connotations and related pictures. History was my minor in college. I think it is wonderful that you have been able to visit all of the places that you have. Something in restrospect that I bet many of us wish we had planned or thought about!
Wishing you continued good health, safe travel, and a Happy New Year.
Anyone Recognize this Vegetable Yum, Romanesco, reminiscent of fractals!! Wegman's sells it, usually during the month of November. It tastes as great as it looks, a mild, tender vegetable that is a cultivar of the same species as cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, etc.
Happy New Year! Hi to you both - Happy New Year. First time on your blog as doing my new diary and your details are in the old one!!! Pleased you are enjoying your stay in the UK despite the recent storms!! More to come! We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise to/around the azores-beautiful islands which we will visit again. Leaving for 2 months in NZ on 4th Jan - flying!!! Our best wishes for 2014.
Like so many others we love to travel and we love to sail so cruising makes a lot of sense. Janice has retired from Cornell as a business manager and Bob has retired from South Seneca school district as the high school principal. It's time to sell the house, get rid of whatever doesn't fit on our 40 foot Caliber LRC named Tsamaya (this means Travel Well in Setswana) and set off to see the world. Our reasons for publishing this blog is twofold, first to keep in touch with our friends and family and secondly to share our experiences.
