R U out there
Howdy Happy Travelers. Have those corner pubs and their liquid refreshments got the better of the two of you? Blogg withdrawal symptoms are setting in down here!!! Cheers from down under.

Phantom!!!!
Oh my god, Phantom - How awesome. Kerrin and I saw it in New York some 20 years ago - it was absolutely incredible - so much so that last year we went to the show again in Auckland - just as grand and spectacular - still know all the songs off by heart when I hear them. I am so jealous you have seen it......

Howdy Happy Travellers.
What a WOW of a time you two are having and you write about it so well it is like being there. Pleased to see Murray is enjoying his travels again, Shorn says Hi to him and is looking forward to his next venture also

Glad you are getting thru all the top things in London! :-) You must have walked a couple of inches off your legs with all the walking you seem to have been doing! And stoked to see you have picked up the habit of calling it the Tube (the right way) rather than the subway! :-) Did you use the bathrooms in Selfridges? They can always be relied upon for a fancy, clean bathroom!

No more complaining about the heat please...this morning it is 2 degrees in Auckland and our front steps were iced over. Its Auckland, we dont get ice!!!! I would do anything to swap this cold for some unbearable heat....even if it is the tube in London squashed in at rush hour!

Lifetime of memories
Hello you two, my goodness what wonderful write ups you are giving. I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone of them and the photos are awesome too. I have had many a laugh... by myself and outloud, if the family hear I think they think I am mad! So you are not missing your gymnastics then???? Keep safe, look forward to more. Christine

I warned you about SoHo! :-) I used to walk thru Picadilly Circus almost every day to get my lunch while I was at work and I *never* got tired of it :-D
2nd June 2009

Love the squirrel! You fit all my favourite things about London into one day....love emerging from the tube and gaping up at Big Ben, love St James Park (my favourite of all London parks), love the circus, love Oxford St and love Carnaby St. You did miss our all time favourite pie shop though. Its in a little alleyway off Carnaby St and its called Mother Mash. If you have a pie craving I would totally recommend the place!

Abbey Road
Very surprised you can not remember the name of the album Grahame. Looks like you two have really planned this trip to the n'th degree. Can't wait for the next enthralling episode.
31st May 2009

Regents Park is my fave London park...probably because it was the first one we ever visited too and it always seemed to be lovely and sunny whenever we visited it - as it looks like it was for your too! :-) Spy any squirrels??
31st May 2009

Jeremy Kyle is on in NZ - at around 11am on Channel 2 I think...and some of the trash they have on there do come to blows at times! :-) The street looks *exactly* like the street I used to live on in Leytonstone (also out in the "East End"). ASDA is an awesome supermarket - the range of fruit and veges you can get at all times of the year from all over Europe and Africa was something I never got used to. And being able to buy bottles of spirits at the supermarket too!

Bangers & Mash
Glad to here you are safely in the UK - I am presently trying to convince Brian that the five of us should go there next year!! The photos are lovely to see, glad to hear you are both ok - shaken not stirred as 007 would say - blasted pickpocket ;-( onward on the adventure...
29th May 2009

Poor old Dad aye....scammed by the dodgy old Russians. Very glad to hear that you had followed Ma's advice though and the joke was *almost* on the pickpocketers :-) And the dude at the airport in Dusseldorf MUST have been Belgian or something coz I *swear* German's with a sense of humour are an urban myth!! If you find one, knock it on the head and have it stuffed to donate to a museum!!
29th May 2009

Gutted to hear about your camera - that really sux! Damn those Commies! Go for Tottenham Court Road in London (at the end of Oxford Street)...electronics shops galore and you're bound to find a great deal.
28th May 2009

Damn!
Oh dear, sorry to hear about your losses! Lucky it was only two days of photos and nobody got hurt in its disappearance! I got a great deal on my new camera in London....there is a a street with cheap electronics shops on it so will ask Cormac where it was but from memory it was in the West End, not far off Oxford St.

*Wow* at that Rembrandt painting!!
26th May 2009

Brent and I have the theory that if you made eye contact with someone in Russia (back in the day), you ran the risk of being dobbed in by your *comrade* for doing something you never did and then next thing you know the KGB comes knocking at your door :-P Maybe old habits are hard to shake!

The Benvie Budget Adventure Trip
Enjoy the luxury :-) loving your adventure tales and hope we can get together in the not too distant future and see your photos xx
25th May 2009

Stoked for the come-back of the blog. And adventures, adventures aye? I can just picture you two with your suitcases and backpacks going all over the show on the Moscow Metro. At least the London tube shouldn't be a mission now that you've accomplished that! *Touch wood*
24th May 2009

No eyecontact!
Please dont attempt to attract eye contact on the Tube in London....I rode the same train with the same people in the same carriage every day for four months and never made eye contact with those people. It s acultural thing and not an experiment to be conducted in the UK!

Who's for sale
Catherine has been wondering if anyone has offered to buy Auntie Gretchen yet. They do that sort of thing in Africa, especially Egypt. 40 goats seem to be a good price.

GPS
You need to get a GPS unit asap. Uncle Doug used the stars. From a family of great navigators you're letting the side down.

And you wonder why Rin and I are worried about you! How many more days before you hit the English speaking developed world? Stay out of dark alleys!
