Geo: -25.2744, 133.775A morning flight to Ayers Rock from Sydney gave us time to arrive and book an afternoon tour to Uluru. We prefer to do unguided tours as we would rather do our own thing rather than hanging around in a large group listening to facts which will soon be forgotten. At this time of year there arent many people as it is too hot. Apparantly it is crowded in the Ozzy winter. We set off on the 9.4 Km walk around the base and met hardly anyone. The heat is OK as long as you take plenty of water. The flies are unbearable and a net over a sunhat is essential in this place. Even sitting outside the hotel doing this blog I have hat and net on as flies ... read more

Geo: -33.8671, 151.207We were up at the crack of dawn to get from Bulli to Sydney airport, only to find that we had arrived a day too early! Feeling real twits we checked in at the nearest hotel to the airport and went onto plan B, which was to have a day out in Sydney. First we went up the Sky Tower which on a clear day does offer great views of the city. There is an associated Oztek experience which is part of the ticket but is a real disappointing experience. They have the technology to really educate but failed miserably so to do. After that we walked down to Circular Quay and caught the ferry to Manly. This is a lovely way to see the city from the river. There is not a huge ... read more

Geo: -33.8671, 151.207The transfer from Singapore to Sydney was a smooth operation. The check in desk at Singapore was the best ever- immediate and while sat in armchairs. The lounge was superb but then the flight was delayed by an hour but it didnt matter. Overnight flight to Sydney so once again it was film watching and then chatting with the air steward in the bar. Sydney immigration is chaotic long queues thro' passport control and then different exits with no clear signage as to which exit with which bit of paper. Taxi to Bulli which is about an hours drive south of Sydney. Our daughter lives high on the escarpment of rainforest close to the sea. The back garden has a steep slope leading into national park with Cockatoos and parrots of various hues. It ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.85visited Sentosa island arriving there by cable car from harbour point. It is a glorified theme park of what was once a fishing town. No fishermen to be seen now. The Sky Tower affords views of the city. The aquarium is very good and well laid out and not too big. The Dolphin Lagoon is fine if you havent ever seen a Dolphin show before, as Seaworld in US does it better. The Cineblast log flume ride is good for kids and for you if you havent been on a 3D ride where you are stationary but the seat moves in tune to the film on screen. There is a nice beach to which families bring picnics if they want a cheap day out. Singapore is expensive especially for alcohol. London pricesAs it was ... read more

Geo: 1.28941, 103.85off to a good start by travelling Club Class from Heathrow. Ted was happy as he had his own seat and champagne. The grown ups were happy because the flat bed seats were comfortable and the wine was good. An overnight flight is OK if one can sleep but there are films to watch. On arrival we were met by a private car and whisked off to Raffles. The temperature was a lovely constant 30 with slight breeze. The first beer was had in the lobby with a piano playing romantic tunes. The hotel has an understated elegance. Lots of dark wood and long balconies and we found it easy to get lost when trying to get between the Long Bar and our room. The obligatory Singapore Sling in the Long Bar eating peanuts ... read more
