whew! What a beginning to what I hope was a beautiful vacation after a bad start! I felt very bad about your camera and I DO totally understand the frustration and sadness of not being able to have it for a trip that would be a photographer's dream! I am so sorry honey. Memories of my video camera at Mt. Rushmore and the big theft in Stoke on Trent--bum memories. :( Hopefully in HK they will easily repair it for you--I'm hoping for the best. Eager to hear more about the vacation, love, mamaC

Ha Ha but I know he would love it too. I'm envious!!! Glad you got to be with Jimmy and Cali when you needed them too. Love you much and many hugs of comfort, mamaC
Your in our thoughts Staci and Martin you are in our thoughts and prayers. You are correct death is not fair and we should cherish every little moment. China at times can get us down at times, but we still have life the greatest thing ever.

We will all have to go sometime together now that you are pro's at it. Tell me on Wednesday what the coordinators should have told us.
awesome That's one of the best birthday stories I've heard about in China for foreign teachers! I'm so glad that your day was special. Happy belated b-day!
Birthday Happy belated birthday, Martin. We are glad you had an enjoyable day celebrating even though you did miss family and friends. You seem to be settling in very well in your work and it seems that the students really appreciate you. We are doing o.k. except that grandpa has to have skin cancer surgery next week. Our weather has been great, lots of sunshine and warm temperatures with low humidity. Leaves are beginning to show color and some are already falling. We send our love. Grandma
Hello Hey there Staci and Martin! I, like you, have jumped ship after school from the states to teach english for a year in China. I have been in Zhongshan(near you) for a little under 3 months now. I completely understand what you are feeling!! It is kind of odd having people tuned into your life and being clueless in return. Obviously China is China, you just have to live here. As far as the homesickness goes try to stay positive!! You will have good days and bad not matter what, also we have a national days coming up soon too so it will be a good chance for some RnR!!Good luck guys!!!
joy It warms my heart to know our son had such a special day even spending it miles away from "home". It sounds like you are becoming very beloved to your students :)
Happy Birthday, Martin Just wanted to wish Martin a Happy Birthday. I read your blog every day and think of you often. I will get you a birthday care package sent soon. We love you.
goodness well, that just made me cry...being the "softie" that i am...we miss you so much, not because we really got to see you all that often, but just by the knowing that the space and air between us was little and your essence, profound as it is, always felt so near...we are so proud, in so many ways, on so many levels, that the two of you are there on this journey together; that China too gets the blessing of you even though they have no idea how much better a country they are just by your being there!!!:o) i'd love to afford a visit and though i doubt that kind of money will come my way this year, i'll keep hopeful:o) thank you again for sharing with us:o) <3
Missing Ichiro Ha Ha I knew the little guy would get to you! I miss hearing you yell out his name at any lull in the game! Pooties sends you a snuggle and a cuddle--xomamac
our pieces will fit back together beyond easy when you come back :) i think with the 20+ years behind us is a great help in that. by the way i'm in the middle of emailing you while i read this! :) love you!
After graduating from college in 2007 and spending a few years in the working world, we randomly decided to move across the world and teach English in China. Hmm...foolish, or awesome? It's going to be the year of a lifetime, with adventures we'll never forget. Join us as we cry, laugh, experience life as we never have before, and make new friends while trying to stay in touch with the old ones. We'll be returning to the USA during the summer of 2010, where we'll hopefully move to a new city and begin life yet again anew.... full info
