Florence was well…OK. Having a sinus infection has not helped the trip to Florence be enjoyable, but I think the city it self would have been just alright anyway. It is the most tourist packed city I have been to yet, almost every street you were walking shoulder to shoulder with tourists. The architecture in the city as per all of Europe was beautiful, the weather while I have been here has been amazing except there was a serious thunder storm for an hour or so one day . I only went in to Florence city twice, I have had 3 days of rest in the beautiful countryside hoping that relaxing will fix my stupid sinus. So I have watched a lot of TV episodes (finished Dead Like Me) and documentaries, I’m also ready a book ... read more

My breath was taken away when I got in to Italy first thing I noticed about Pisa on my bus trip to Florence was SUN FLOWERS, fields and fields of sun flowers. Then there was also the mountains, the buildings and the crazy Italian drivers. When I got to Florence main station I then jumped on another bus to go to my hostel. This was the scariest bus ride I had ever been on. The driver was driving extremely fast through these tiny streets that couldn’t have another car coming the other way, although the scenery helped calm me as we drove up and down big hills. After a 12 hour day of travelling it was great to finally arrive somewhere I can call home…at least temporarily. The hostel is great, it is about 45 minutes ... read more

I met some people after breakfast and just spoke with them till around 11. A couple of Americans I met said they were going in to the city, I had to go to the city so the invited me. I organized my train from Amsterdam to Maastricht, as I only just found out that the airport I booked my ticket through is on the border of Belgium and The Netherlands , so I have to travel for 2.5 hours before I can catch my plane…lucky I booked it for 2pm! I arranged that, then Simon and Mikala suggested hitting up a coffee shop and I thought that to be a grand idea. We chillaxed for around half an hour and then they decided that they were going to the markets, as I had yet to see ... read more

I gorged at breakfast trying to fit as much as I can in (as I do at every hostel that provides breakfast). I sat around and met a few people at Bob’s in the few hours before I left. I then made my way to the station, and had to decrypt the directions along the way. When I got there I was blown away. It is the most relaxed place, even more so in contrast to Amsterdam city. It’s a collection of caravans, camp sites and little dorms with crazy paper machete animals in between and a 5 minute walk away there’s a big beautiful lake! What more can you want? It’s exactly what I needed . I walked around the lake and sat down in a few spots, the weather was beautiful. I walked until ... read more

I went on the New Europe tour for Amsterdam, it was ok. It would have been awesome but it was the tour guides first time so she didn’t have the same enthusiasm as the other tour guides I have had, but it was still good. After learning a bit about Amsterdam and while I was out and about I thought I might as well check out the city. I just picked a direction and walked that way, I ended up just sitting and chilling on a canal, watching people cruise past in tug boats, dingies, etc (also there is no benches to sit on anywhere in the streets!). This city is amazing! It’s so strange being in a city that has so many canals, people living on the water, then you have the coffee shops and ... read more

OK OK, I have chillaxed for 2 days straight and not really seen anything, but tomorrow will be different *Stands up yelling and pointing in the air*. Today I woke up about 930am, but lazed for a bit. I wrote my blogs but still can’t post them up as the internet at Bob’s is only in the common room and it doesn’t work most of the time anyway . I then went and had a joint with Ross about 1100am, lazed some more, I then went to the shops as I really needed to at least have breakfast. I ate and then went to a coffee shop called Abraxas, I bought a gram of Nevil Haze on the recommendation from the guy behind the counter. I asked him what Indica he would smoke and that’s the ... read more

The train ride form Dusseldorf was 2.5 hours which is awesome. I was only a 5 minute walk to Bob’s hostel and I was pleasantly surprised hat it’s actually in the Red Light District. I checked in and then dragged my stuff up 4 flights of steep steps that are so small you can only just get your footing on . I got setup and as I was doing so I met an Irish man (well he’s 20) called Steve, and he’s extremely hard to understand. He speaks quite softly and he has a really thick Irish accent, he said that he’s from Cork and he can speak some native language as in he uses different words for things and it won’t make sense. Anyway…he said he was going out on a coffee shop crawl by ... read more

Dusseldorf, Germany is a cool little city. Well, I did only get to see Phillips halle (to see Nine Inch Nails (NIN) play), the main station and also my hostel, as I was only there for a day and a half and just met heaps of peeps and spoke crap in the hostel. First night I arrived around 7pm spoke to a guy from America for about 2 hours and then went to bed. Next day I lazed around met a few guys from Norway and a guy from Canada. The guys from Norway gave me some snus (pouch of tobacco like substance you tuck under your lip and the nicotine is released through your gum in to your blood stream), it was ok I guess. I was getting extremely excited about seeing NIN play, and ... read more

I got up and decided I would go to the Eastside Gallery (which is the longest piece of the Berlin wall left standing), it took me about a half hour to walk there but it was definitely well worth it! At the moment the wall is being repainted by professional (well at least really good) artists. I think I took photos of nearly every piece of art, it was so good. I didn’t think the gallery was so long, it would have at least been around 2km or so. There is an old part of the wall that they have yet to get to and paint properly so it’s covered in graffiti and people write their own comments on there, I thought I would leave my own mark (look at the photo). I walked down the ... read more

Thank god I left David’s Cozy House of Rules and Regulations (quote from Astrid Holz) on to Schlafmeile Hostel which is to tell you the truth…fantastic. The staff are friendly, the lay out is awesome, beds are comfy and bathrooms clean, what isn’t to like? I arrived at 12ish but couldn’t actually check in till 2 or so. That’s ok I was meeting Phillipa as the Sony Centre to watch Transformers 2 , I had told her earlier that day (6am to be specific as I couldn’t sleep with my fever and she was only just getting home ) that I wanted to see it and so did she. We had a look at the times and it said 14:30 as far as we could tell as it was in German even Google translate didn’t help ... read more
