Firstly, Ipswich…awful. Seeing Aunty Robyn and Michael was really good. But Ipswich itself isn’t the nicest of places. I stayed with Michael and Lynn whilst I was in Queensland in the house that Aunty Robyn actually grew up in. Aunty Robyn lent me her ute so Michael and I drove in to Brisbane itself just to have a look around. Stupidly Michael had forgotten that parking was ridiculously expensive so for 2 hours parking it cost $40. It was great to land in Perth knowing I was only an hour away from home. Terry picked me up from the airport (THANX TERRY!) and it was nice to see a face from home. Unfortunately I couldn’t go back to my house as Ben and Steph were house sitting, so I had to stay with Lynn and Keith ... read more

On Saturday Jeremy and Crystal had people over as they had managed to get rid of their kids, which is good. Their oldest daughter Jade who is 4 doesn’t like me for some reason and is constantly giving me grief . Whether it is a pinch, punch or kick while no one is looking or giving me the evils. I don’t know why I was never anything but nice…lol. Anyway, the party was really cool we set up Jeremy’s sound system and had my hard drive hooked up and blasted my music. I got to meet a bunch of Justin and Jeremy’s friends I hadn’t met before and I’m yet to come across someone who I don’t like . Justin and I were planning to head to Vancouver city the next day but didn’t end up ... read more

Since I have been here I have lost all perception of time, therefore it's hard to put events in order . Today we went kayaking from departure bay. We had to first blow up the raft and then carry it down to the water hoping that it could carry both of us and wouldn’t leak air. We jumped in and set off trying not to be hit by any boats travelling around. We paddled over to a little island and chilled out in the cove. On our way back we saw that a plane was coming in to land and it was dropping in altitude quite quickly and it looked as if it were going to land on us, luckily it didn’t. We got back to the land, packed up the kayak and headed for home. ... read more

So Justin and I have been quite lazy over the last week but we are active now . The other day we went to this really cool walking trail where we got lost a few times but ended up finding the waterfall which is what we were aiming to see. You actually had to climb down a rope to get to the waterfall as the hill was super steep to climb down. That was a lot of fun and i got to see some of the great outdoors . Yesterday we went to the sand castle building competition and i saw a Canadian beach, brown sand, rocks, sticks, etc. The beach itself wasn't very nice but the view behind with all the mountains was amazing!! Tomorrow we actually are going kayaking! Woot woot! Good times. So ... read more

I am having so much fun here. Whether it be hanging out with Justin and his friends or Canada it self I’m not sure. Unfortunately since I have arrived the weather has been pretty average, so 3 days of bad weather hasn’t been that fun . Also due to the fact I can’t withdraw any money and Justin doesn’t have a vehicle, combined with the bad weather we haven’t done a whole lot. We went for a quick spin in a car we borrowed so I got to see downtown, Departure Bay and another few places. But most of the time we have just been “hanging out”, playing video games, etc and it has been grand ! Yesterday we went out to lunch with Justin’s mum to the “Crow and Gate” which was a traditional English ... read more

The few days in London were OK I didn’t really do too much; I went and saw TATE Modern art gallery that was about it. I have decided I don’t have an eye for art. I walked around the gallery and I thought most of the art was crap. This one lady stopped and was looking at a couple of pieces of wood sticking out of the wall and she said ecstatically “I love it! I absolutely love it!”. I couldn’t believe it! I’m not sure whether it’s I don’t have an eye or appreciation of art, or that people look at things and believe it’s good because it’s in an art gallery. Maybe they really just think the same thing as me and its crap as well? I hung around the hostel, cooked myself food ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Lanarkshire » Glasgow August 7th 2009

Just to let you know Glasgow didn’t blow my mind, compared to the rest of Scotland i thought it was shit. I got to Glasgow yesterday around 1pm, I made my way to the hostel and dropped of my bags and set out to see some of the city. I walked down the main street and saw some less than average break dancers busking for money and then made my way to the park by the river and relaxed for a couple of hours. I went to back to the hostel which is massive by the way but quite nice, I stayed in a 4 bed room dorm with ensuite which was very nice. I sat around and spoke to the people in my room and then decided to have an early night as I had ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Inverness-shire » Isle of Skye August 5th 2009

First of all my bus ride to Inverness was long and hot, it was 4 hours but the girl behind me with her feet in my back made it longer, and the bus being stuffy and hot made it even longer! Other than that though I loved he bus ride, the scenery up through the highlands was stunning. I could not stop staring out the window, well that was till I fell asleep for a bit. But truly the bus ride was awesome. I got to Inverness and found it to be what I expected a reasonably small town where there isn’t much to do or see, I went to the tourist information to book my tour to the Isle of Skye as that was the only reason I had gone to Inverness (Inverness is the ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Midlothian » Edinburgh August 2nd 2009

Today I got up gorged at the free breakfast provided by the hostel and the decided that I would phone home *done in creepy ET like voice*. I spoke to Mum and Scott for around 1.5 hours and also played a few games of checkers and dominoes. I then called Steph and got to speak to Ben and Steph , as per usual…drunk. LOL. It was around 2pm when I left the hostel. I had met some girls from America that asked if I wanted to join them on a tour that they were going to do, I was going to meet them at Starbucks on the Royal Mile at 2.30pm. I got there and waited for 15mins but they didn’t show so I went back to my original plan of climbing Christopher’s seat which is ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Midlothian » Edinburgh July 31st 2009

The 29th was a boring day but a fantastic night. During the day I thought I better figure where I’m going and what I’m doing for my couple of days in between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I had a few options: Isle of Skye/Lewis/Mull or I could go to the highlands. I reviewed all my options and how easy it was to get to them, accommodation available, etc. After many hours of research I had narrowed the choice down to either Isle of Skye or Inverness which is the hub of travellers before venturing in to the highlands. I decided I would sleep on it and figure it out tomorrow. I met the Irish again in the bar downstairs of the hostel, they bought a couple of pitchers and I ended up having a few pints out ... read more
