Dusseldorf, Germany is a cool little city. Well, I did only get to see Phillips halle (to see Nine Inch Nails (NIN) play), the main station and also my hostel, as I was only there for a day and a half and just met heaps of peeps and spoke crap in the hostel.
First night I arrived around 7pm spoke to a guy from America for about 2 hours and then went to bed.
Next day I lazed around met a few guys from Norway and a guy from Canada. The guys from Norway gave me some snus (pouch of tobacco like substance you tuck under your lip and the nicotine is released through your gum in to your blood stream), it was ok I guess. I was getting extremely excited about seeing NIN play, and I met a guy called Jon from Belgium who was also going. He said that he was going to meet a bunch of people that were traveling alone and wanted to go in a group and he was meeting that at around 4pm, he said I could come along and I agreed. We made our way there and wandered around to try and find the
ambiguous meeting point and we did eventually 😊.
We made all out introductions and after an hour or so started making our way to the concert hall, the lines were pretty darn big and they didn’t let anybody in for around 2 hours which was pretty shit.
It was strange seeing a band in quite a large indoor venue as I really do like the outdoor shows better. The first band called Mew started at 8pm, they were really good and they sort of reminded me of Circa Survive. They only played a half hour set and then I went to search for the group as I got split up when I went to the toilet. As I was wandering through the crowd I managed to find a reasonably good vantage point, in the centre about 10m from the stage so I just stayed put. NIN started playing at around 9:15pm, it was AWESOME although when they started playing they played some heavier songs like Mr. Selfdestruct and shit just went down, the crowd exploded and yet again I was wrapped in a mosh pit just hoping I didn’t loose my footing. There was only like 3 songs that went
like this so it wasn’t too bad. I went to the toilet and then decided I would stay towards the left of the band around 20m away and I had the best time, plenty of space so I could dance take photos and jump around 😄.
I ended up buying a NIN shirt for 35EUR (60AUD) but hey, it’s one of the only things I will probably buy for myself on this holiday and it’s their last tour 😞.
The show finished and we all had a set meeting outside the venue just in case we got split up (luckily), some people went home and the remaining six would go to a bar/pub to chill out for a bit. We ended finding a Middle Eastern looking bar where you could take off your shoes and sit on the cushions, we ordered a shisha and some drinks (I got water). We sat around for about 3 hours speaking crap as per usual 😊, one of the girls that had giant knockers (the only thing going for her, she was a bigger, rowdier young lass) ended up knocking over the table with the shisha and a few drinks…foolish.
The night wrapped up
around 3ish and Jon and I walked back to the hostel, I had a shower and slept around 4am. What a grand day, yet again NIN blew my socks off! I met a whole bunch of cool people and just generally had a really good day 😄. Thank you Europe.

Oh dude ... soooo super jealous you got to see NIN again. At Soundwave they rocked, but if you heard some heavier stuff..OMG! Peace out and take care...
