It's day 2 of my DTS now and day 4 of being in Australia and I'm definitely feeling a lot more settled now. It's amazing how quickly you get to know people when you are living in such close quarters. I feel like I've know some of these people for my whole life and I'm sure as I continue with the DTS this feeling will only become more common. It still doesn't actually feel like I'm doing it yet but I'm sure it won't be long before my brain catches up with my body. Last night we started the DTS but it's not like we're being pushed in the deep end or anything, it's just pretty light hearted at the moment with getting to know each other games and being told a lot of information about ... read more

Hey guys! Don't have a long time to write a blog as I am on a library computer so I'll make this quick :) Right so I landed at 1am Friday morning (about 5pm on Thursday your time) so I haven't really been up to a great deal! I flew with a Northern Irish girl called Katie and 2 danish guys called Jesper (Yes-per) and Tobias (To-be-us) who were all very nice and definitely made the whole flight more bareable. Wasn't a scary journey at all as I was with people and because it's not the first time I've travelled semi-alone. Did lose a bracelet tho and I almost lost my sleeping bag as it came away from my backpack but it made it! It's very sunny here but not as hot as it usually gets ... read more

So here is my first blog of the trip, really it's a warm up blog so people can see where the blogs are going to be posted in the future and will mainly be an introduction to what I'm actually going to be doing for the next 6 months. A week today I start a YPDTS (Young Persons Discipleship Training School) in Perth (Australia) with a mission organisation called YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Unless you've done a DTS, have looked into one yourself or have known someone who has done one, you are probably feeling completely lost at this point. Don't worry, I was too when I started looking into doing it. I'll trying and break it down for you but if you still feel lost by the end of it feel free to visit ... read more

So i talked about Las Vegas in my last blog...now its time to tell u the story of the tour of the Grand Canyon. It started at like 6am. The guide was called Chris and he picked us up from our hotel along with another family and a Chinese student. The family were quite a young family...well the kids anyways. They were from London and spoke in a real typical posh London accent which amused me and they were so polite. Bob and Helen were the parents and the kids were Jordan, Luke and Imogen. Their ages ranged from 6-12 and they were really cute and so nice to each other...i don't think i heard them bicker once...not like me and my sisters were fought a bit and we're a lot older than them! The Chinese ... read more

Well the job that i have at the moment is soooo much easier than the job ive had for the majority of summer. Its insane how much time i get off...i practically dont work at all! Not all members of staff are as fortunate as me as some are still required to be with teenage campers for the majority of the time to make sure that their behaviour is of a christian nature and sometimes that proves harder than u would think. All the campers in teen camp are from a church and have been recommended by their pastor yet some are still very eager to cause havoc...one guy in particular seems to be trying his luck with every girl and has apparently got a girlfriend back at home. The girls seem oblivious to this, or ... read more

Well we've just finished single parent camp and that went pretty well. It started off pretty bad due to homesickness and general negative feeling overload. Spent most of the first day just wollowing in misery and looking rather angry. Cheered up when my nightwatch buddy threw me fully clothed into the pool tho...funny how things like almost drowning in the shallow end (..due to shock) can cheer u up! Had my first smore the other day! Ok i kinda lie...i had a smore pop tart at the beginning of camp but trust me that aint the same! Basically...if u dont know what a smore is...its like chocolate and melted marshmallow sandwiched in between 2 crackers/biscuits. At the same time i was getting my smore...i got asked if i was French...yer...i dont get that either! Apparently i ... read more

Am really tired and not making much sense at all now so apologies for anything which makes no sense or is spelt incorrectly. Last big camp has finished and the campers have gone home. Had 2 days of cleaning which was difficult due to how boring cleaning is and how i have not only the farm to clean but the nature lodge and my cabin. It wasnt a fun time as im sure a lot of people who really kno me will understand as i am not a naturally clean person...basically i think there is more to life than cleaning...like sleeping...that would be nice at the moment. Not long now till i leave...leaving this camp on the 10th and will be the 3rd international staff member to leave. The first one left yesterday and the 2nd ... read more

Ok...so i havent been able to write anything for a while. My busy schedule has returned and any spare time i have now is either spent sleeping, reading Eclipse or cleaning up after the animals. It is coming to the end of camp and u can really tell. The councellors are beginning to slack off and they dont seem to be applying all the rules. Like i have seen so many councellors use their cell phones it is unreal. Its so fustrating cos i am trying to do a job which is made harder if they are not taking things seriously. I mean i know it gets tiring and stressful but my programme area is not break time for them. Of course not all of them are bad...just some. Its not just councellors as well and ... read more

Yes...as u can see, another animal has decided that living was perhaps not for them and died. This time it was the guinea pig, Brownie. Pretty sure that she overheated as it has been especially hot over the past few days. Didnt really get a send off like a pet would get if i was back at home...instead it was a case of throwing it in the trashcan...not my idea...just following instructions! Really hope that all the other animals make it through to the end of this camp session. I mean it wasnt my fault that this guinea pig died but it doesnt do much for the soul when u have animals dyin when ur meant to be responsible for them. Havent been feeling the best ever over the past few days. Feel like ive taken ... read more
