Yes...another camp has been completed. The longest one is over and everyone is now attempting to rest and regain their sanity before the final kids camp which is another social services camp, starting on Wednesday! Few things to catch u up on with regards to music camp! Found out that the guy who kept referring to me as beauty and future wife is in fact Destiny's older brother...oh its funny how the world works! Destiny became increasingly protective over me towards the end and shouted at anyone did as much as rolled their eyes as me telling the to be quiet...in fact i had to sit between her and another girl cos she was so determined to start a fight with her....the other girl didnt help either...continuously retaliating to all of Destiny's comments...some kids eh! On ... read more

Well yesterday i forgot to mention a kid who i am working with at the moment in my singing class. Basically she seems to be challenged in the way that she expresses her emotions and often comes across as slow and as if she doesnt understand. She is also quite easily angered...kinda like a toddler. Basically i am working closely with her (she's called Destiny), gradually teaching her about notes and how to read music. Im not doing it alone as i have Rita (the staff member from Ireland) helping me out with her behaviour but Rita doesnt really have any muscial knowledge so the teaching is kinda up to me. It can be hard sometimes as it requires a lot of patience as music is even hard for the most able children. She gets quite ... read more

Well we are like mid-way into music camp now...its quite cool to walk through camp and hear a load of little kids sing or play some form of instrument! The majority of them listen as well...thats quite nice! Programme staff have more time off than usual because there are music classes here instead of clubs and our programme areas have to be shorter so that they can fit everything musical in...its nice but harder on the councellors because they have to get their kids from one place to another. The councellors are also under quite a lot of pressure at the moment as well because of two staff members getting fired...everything that the councellors do now is monitored. They have been told to do some weird things like be in the bathroom and bedrooms with the ... read more

Camp session finished yesterday so am on a break for a bit. Went for an all you can eat yesterday after the kids had left with the remaining staff members which decided to stay at camp over break and the caretakers family. Was at the Golden Corral which was nice but ate way too much cos i tend to do that when i have access to anything other than camp food! Alex the caretakers youngest daughter seems to have taken a shine to me which is sweet as she kind of reminds me of Hannah (littlest sis) as she is very open about what she thinks and often likes to be centre of attention (dont be offended Hannah...you kno i dont mean it in a bad way...u are a bit of a drama queen :p we ... read more

So as u can see one of the animals died...yes it was bye bye for the Iquana called Issac. I really really hope it wasnt my fault and have been told over and over again by other staff members that it wasnt but im not so convinced. Basically it happened during a girl class i was teaching...it started making funny faces then didnt move. The kids all commented that it looked like it was dead but i didnt want to confirm it right in front of them so just said it was sleeping with its eyes open...sounds silly i kno. When i managed to check it for myself when the kids had left it was all floppy and limp so yer it was dead. Felt so guilty that i had killed an animal that i cried ... read more

Ok so ive only had like a day and a half with nature but so far so good! Think me and the snake (Sir Hissalot) have a bond although i still get freaked out when its face comes too close to me. Me and the iguana tho...not so close...he/she (some say its a guy called Isaac but a camper pointed out that it was a girl...hmmm) opened its mouth to me yesterday...and if it tried to bite me it would hurt bad...but it likes me enough to let me pick it up :) The rabbits (Flopsy and Pokadotted) and guinea pig (Brownie) are cute...its like being a kid again having to look after them. Brings back memories and helps the homesickness. The box turtle (called Boxer) is cool. If you put it on its back it ... read more

Well as you may or may not have worked out by the title...my position in camp has now changed. I am no longer horse director but am nature director instead. How is this different i hear you cry??? Basically nature looks after rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, a snake, an iguana, a tortoise, fish, 2 birds, frogs, goats, pigs, Molly (the miniture horse), goats and some roosters. Quite a lot eh! Why the change??? Well they needed a rec director (sport director) and the assistant horse director is really good at sports. I also dont let the kids ride the horses because i dont feel as though it is safe enough and i wouldnt ride the horse myself whereas the former nature guy is crazy so he will. The former nature guy also doesnt teach the kids ... read more

Well its coming close to the end of the camp session now. Have only got 2 more programmes to teach and a carnival to supervise tonight and then the kids are off 2morro at 10ish. Have been trying to develop my faith more these past few days. Have been feeling so tired and it has been harder to get up each day but through prayer God has given me the strength to carry on and has given me the energy needed...although patience is a different matter! Since i last blogged my days have been harder. My motivation is lower than it should be and my positive attitude which i normally try to maintain seemed to disappear. This made it really really hard to deal with the kids in a helpful way. Feeling better now tho cos ... read more

Guess what....God has blessed me again! He has brought a new addition to the horse area....her name is Molly and she is a miniture horse i.e. a shetland pony! Woop! Finally something which i am really familiar with. She seems really sweet but she is quite young and so far the kids go mental around her. They brought her up to my club today and they all ran towards her....so much for safety...some kids really have a deathwish. They actually stopped after i told them to tho....cinncinati kids would not have. Actually jumped off the tall pole. Took quite a bit of talking myself into it and encouragement. When i was standing on the top it was shaking so much cos of the amount my body was shaking. The platform on top of the pole was ... read more

Little update for u all. Tis sooooooo hot here 2day. Stormed a bit yesterday and there seems to be more storm clouds hanging round which is making it humid. Horse is limping on the other leg now...they are bringing someone out to see him today but he looks like he is in a lot of pain. Not so nice to see him hobbling around :( Had my 1st club session. The kids are a lot better behaved and focussed. One kid got bitten tho and one kid had to go to the nurse cos he was complaining bout feeling ill but was just said to be homesick. These kids dont seem to be as clingy as the other ones and most of them seem to have some knowledge of the bible and christian life. Spent the ... read more
