Well just thought i would share with you a little blessing that i have felt today...after its about time i start reporting some positive things...believe me positive things do happen and its not just misery here, its just for some reason the negative things seem to stay more firmly in my mind. Basically i was kinda getting down bout my lack of ability to allow kids to ride horses and unable to think of things to do instead and serverly running out of time...but God has blessed me cos He gave me more time. 2morro i have the afternoon off to think of alternatives...something which wouldnt have happened if it wasnt for His input over the timetabling. Come to think of it...last week He also planned out the timetable to make things easier for me as ... read more

Well i didnt really enjoy break all that much. Got closer to the northern irish girl (emma) and bought more clothes than i packed so at least i wont look like i never change now...but i kept dreading returning to camp life. I feel pretty useless at my job. Got an assistant now so at least i have someone to share the worries and stuff with...of course i have been sharing them with God but im getting to the stages that im complaining so much to Him that i think He would just want me to just get on with it. I feel that perhaps my moaning my be getting to Him, specially since all i ever do is take. There were awards handed out last night for super staff...didnt get one but wasnt really that ... read more

The kids have gone back to Cincinnati now :) horah! Am quite sad to see most of them go home but others i perhaps wont miss as much. Had a church service today and pretty much all the kids went up to accept God at the end of the service. Not entirely sure that all of them knew what they were doing...think some of them may have just felt that the others were doing it so they should do it...but i suppose i'll never kno...i can only pray. Had yet another experience of racism today. Was trying to stop a 6yr old girl from what looked like punching another girl but was actually her punching the girls doll. When i asked why she was punching the doll she replied that it was white so it deserved ... read more

Well i have officially finished teaching the kids bout horses...well for the 1st week anyways! Only 3 kids had their feet stood on and thats what happens if they dont stay alert! Now all is left is church 2morro and then they are sent home. Will miss the kids when they go home. Even tho they can be annoying at times, they can also be really sweet. Like today during morning worship a girl spent the whole service making sure my foot was ok. I also like how they just come up and say hi and hug you. They are so caring, they really are just misunderstood. Most of the kids only fight because that is how they thought they should act, it is a consequience of their environment. Its definitely not because they are bad ... read more

Well just thought i would just leave a little update to the day :) today has been a lot more laid back than the other days, partly because i have to keep walking to a minimum so everyone is encouraging me to rest rather than work :D i aint complaining...well i am kinda cos i feel lazy and dont like watching others work and be so nice to me when i should be helping out. Only session i had to teach today was pretty much purely games. Had candy as prizes and they behaved soooooooo much better! Wish they would behave for something healthier tho! Actually managed to call home 2day...yer...over a week after i arrive! Took me about half an hour until i worked out how to use the American numbers and a phone card ... read more

Ok...bet you're wondering why i went to ER...well i tell ya in a bit! 1st...rewind! My first full day of teaching kids was yesterday. Not fun..when they say its hard work they aint kidding! The kids r so different. Some are soooooooo clingy and just wont stop asking questions and some just wont even pay any interest to what you're saying wotsoeva. 1st lesson was with the kids who asked to be in the horse club. decided i would start easy and teach them how to feed the horses so i asked the kitchens for apples and carrots (no carrots but i got some vanilla biscuits). They managed to entertain the kids for 10 mins. For the rest of the time they pretty much tried to feed them grass. Keeping their attention is so hard. They ... read more

Ok so this is going to be a short one as i need to be in a meeting in like 10 mins! Basically 2day the campers arrived. They are from the riskier parts of Cincinati which is the capital of Ohio (i think...dont quote me on that). Its weird to see a white minority of campers but then again it doesnt feel threatening or anything. The majority of the campers are positive and up for a good time...only a few might be a bit of a handful. Apparently some 5 year old girls have already be heard threatening each other with comments like 'as soon as i get you out side im going to have you'...not exactly what i am used to at home! Was on lice and foot duty this morning. Up at 6 to ... read more

Well the homesickness has started kickin in now. The culture may be less different to me than the other international staff from the Ukraine or Brazil or Portugal and Spain but im still finding it hard to adjust. The food is majorly salty and im finding out some of the side affects some of the americas have experienced as they have grown up with food which is constantly pumped full of chemicals. fresh just isnt an option here. It is insanely hot here. I dont think ive experienced a summer like it and its killing me. Its less humid now because of the rain storm we had the other day but it is still a lot hotter than im used to. Last night me and some of the other staff got access to the fancy dress ... read more

First of all i would just like to apologise for the lack of contact which i have had with people! Hectic times! So....my adventure so far... Well i flew over to New York on tuesday 10th. Was quite impressive how comfortable i got with people who were in the same position as me...all travelling to camp...excited, nervous and tired. I couldnt be with that group of people for long tho since they were all jetting off to different parts of the country the next day. Tuesday was relatively stress free...pretty scary since i was travelling by myself for the 1st time...excluding all the train rides ive taken to and from uni. Had to get up really early to catch a plane from Newcastle at 9:10...doesnt sound early but i had to leave the house at 6:30. ... read more

Well i just thought i would test that this was working before i leave for the States :) Last day in the UK and so far today i have unpacked my uni room out of my loaded Fiat Punto...its not sitting the corner of my bedroom looking rather sad. Am in the process of printing out all the valuable details which will hopefully keep me right in the next 2 days in terms of flights, social security, CRB, visas etc Later on 2day i will be meeting up with Becca (younger sister) and will do some last minute shopping...turns out that the backpack i ordered was out of stock so at this present moment in time i have nothing to pack my stuff into... Might be going for a farewell meal tonight but think it depends ... read more
