Hey guys :) Feels like only yesterday that I was writing my last blog but a week has already past and the countdown really is on till outreach! Only 4 more weeks of lectures left and then we're all off to our various locations for 3 months! It's insane that it has come around that quickly! I have been here around 9 weeks now and they really have just flown by! It's crazy. I've learnt so much and not enough at the same time! I'm pretty sure I'm growing not just in knowledge but in the things that I chose to do and not to do and the way i interact with people...but I guess I won't truly find out the extent of that until i return to those who knew me before! Basically it has ... read more

Hey guys :) Blog time again! So i've been in Australia for 8 weeks now and in so many ways it feels like it's been years but in a good way rather than a 'will this ever end' kind of way! It's been a scorcher of a week weather wise and i am having about 2 showers a day because of the humidity. it's pretty gross i'm not going to lie! This weekend we, as a class, went camping and not the regular UK kind of camping where you take tents and have campfires and stuff like that but the Australian kind of camping where you sleep on a tarpe (like the floor of a tent) just under the stars, with no campfires as they are illegal. So the first fleet of buses left at 9am ... read more

Hey devoted readers! Here is what I learnt this week on Evangelism! *The core of evangelism is inviting people into family, God's family. God wants everyone to be part of His family. Evangelism is focused on relationship, God so loved the world that He sent His only son so that the price of our rebellion could be paid and we could enter back into relationship with the God who created us as valuable, in His own image. Our value can be seen by the way Jesus had to die...each proscribed punishment of a law displays the value of the thing it protects...Jesus died in the most painful way, on a cross after rejection from His friends and followers and humiliation through beating, jeering and generally being grossly mistreated. The 10 commandments are boundaries established so that ... read more

Hey guys! Thanks for joining me again to read about my weekly experiences! I really appreciate it! So it has been a pretty hectic week so this blog definitely has the potential to be long but i am going to try my best to keep things short and sweet so you guys can continue to have a life and can make it all the way through! Friday night: we usually have a meeting on Friday night as a base so staff and students come together (as well as people who they invite from outreach and friends/family who may be visiting) and worship God and learn a bit more about Him. It's a bit like a church service on a friday night. I haven't really mentioned the friday night meeting before in a blog because everything else ... read more

Hey guys! So this week the topic has been relationships, not just romantic ones but with God, members of our church/other christians and other types of groups of people in our life. The focus for the first 3 days of the 5 days of lectures was our relationship with God and the impact this has on other relationships with the main focus on how we are to get our love and significance from God; He is to be our main source rather than trying to find it in other people/activities/things. A few main points which really stuck out to me about our relationship with God is how God's love is multiplied across His children, not divided. I'm sure a lot of you reading this don't have children but the example the speaker gave was how when ... read more

Ok so I'm just going to write a short update this week because last week's was so epic and i think you could all do with a little break from my essay-like blogs! So this week we have been learning about Worship (praising God) and Intercession (praying for things outside of yourself whether it is a country, person, situation etc). If I'm being completely honest I don't think I've learnt as much this week as I have the past 2 weeks, or at least everything I've learnt hasn't really instantly rocked my world like the other things. Prayer is something is always something I've struggled with as I have always focused on what isn't happening rather than what is so when I see that the things that I've prayed about haven't changed instantly and in an ... read more

Hello again! Ok so if you haven't read part I please read it at some point as what goes on during the week is not half as exciting as things which I'm learning in the lecture phase and the application parts. This is not because I have really boring and pathetic weeks, it's just I really am enjoying learning about God and it is just all so amazing! So this week were were mainly in lectures because it was a hard-core topic so free time was pretty infrequent as we were in lectures during the day and then during the night and in most of the free times I had this week I spent having quiet time with God so that I could understand the topic better and learn more about His character. So on Sunday ... read more

Hey guys! Well as I was writing this blog I just experienced Australia rain. It's been kind of humid for a while now with temperatures in the late 30s and man did it just rain and guess what was drying their clothes on the line. Oh yeah, me. So I ran outside got absolutely drenched and could have easily won a wet t-shirt competition. I got absolutely soaked. I think if I showered in my clothes I would have come out less wet than that! So now all my clothes are attached to various parts of the bunkbeds, trying to dry and I am sitting in wet trackies and a top which smells of the inside of the cupboard cos I don't really wear it. Fun times! At least now it might be a bit cooler, ... read more

Hello peeps :) I've been here for 2 weeks tomorrow and this week has been the first week where we have started the full schedule of waking up at 5:30 for morning exercise, morning chores at 8, worship at 8:30, lectures from 10ish-12:30, lunch, afternoon chores, dinner and an evening activity (only on tuesday, thursday & friday, other evenings are free). It's been a bit of a shock to the system waking up at 5:30am...i didn't even do that when I was at secondary school but you do get a whole lot out of the day. It can be a bit of struggle to give your full attention in lectures though. I'm sure that will improve when we're used to it. So we went to the beach on saturday. it was a lovely beach and had ... read more

So as you can see by the title of this blog, it is my one week anniversary of being in Australia and it doesn't feel like it's just been 7 days, it feels like it's been a whole lot longer. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, in fact in many ways it's a good thing as it feels like i've known quite a few of the people for at least a good few years. We've pretty much finished the first week of orientation and lectures on 'Hearing God's voice' which has been good. Everyone is still adjusting and there is still one more person to join the base (a brother of one of the students which is already on the YPDTS) and people are still learning names but the atmosphere is generally positive. Some students have ... read more
