Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Santorini September 11th 2007

Upon arriving in Santorini we checked in to a nice hotel just a 10 minute bus ride from the port. The hotel which would usually cost around 150 euro a night during high season was now slashed to only 30 euros a night. We played some pool, took a swim, and then made our way into town. The town was surprisingly full of restaurants, pubs and bars which I did not expect as I thought Santorini was suppose to be a more outdoors touring island, not a drinking one. So, we made our way to a few of the local pubs, had a few drinks, a few laughs, a bite to eat and then headed off to bed. The day was to be our first sightseeing filled day since our trip began. We took a nice ... read more

Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Mykonos September 8th 2007

Ha, Mykonos... the Greek Island of parties, late nights, and... gays? Yes, full of gays and or couples, not many singles you'll find here, but still an awesome place to check out for a few nights. It was a bit pricy though except for the 2 euro Gyros which is a Greek pita wrap thingy full of tzatziki, chicken, fries and cabbage. However, it did have a great night life, with bars and clubs open until 7am. Even at 3am grandparents and little children still run around through the streets and eat late dinners. The day time, intense heat, proabably why the locals sleep all day and do there chores at dark, similar to what I found in Egypt while I was there. Our accomodation: a shit little cement block with 2 small cushions to sleep ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Dublin September 4th 2007

Guinness is GOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooood! Thats pretty much all I can say about Dublin. Nah, there is more to say, but it wasn't like I had pictured it. I think Dublin has become too busy and westernized with lots of neon lights and busy clubs all along fairly dirty city streets. What we should have done was head to one of the close by smaller towns or cities that would have been a bit more traditional for Ireland. But, it was still fun, the highlight being the Guinness tour at the Guinness Factory of course. Here we learned how Guinness is brewed while sampling many fine flavours and brews of Guinness, which I must say is oh so much better tasting in Ireland, like everyone says themselves after a visit. I found it to almost have a hint ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Aberdeenshire » Aberdeen August 28th 2007

In Aberdeen again with my buddy Adam and Peter. Well, I really need to say thanks to Adam, he has always shown me a great time in Aberdeen. This year for my return visit he scheduled a day of fishing on a fishing boat, where I caught just under 20 mackerel while the total catch for the day must have just topped 200. We bar bq'd a hell of a lot of fish that night, absolutely delicious. The following day myself, Adam and Peter went golfing and had a few beers. We took a few nights out as well, with some very heavy drinking and video on my camera that none of us remember taking place... lol! Adam unfortunately had to leave on Sunday for his birthday in Morocco with his girlfriend, but luckily he still ... read more

Wow! Montreal... awesome place. Although I was initially dissappointed Emilie didn't come to Vancouver, I am now very happy to have gone to Montreal and also Quebec City. I had a lot of fun, Quebec is just incredibly beautiful and Montreal is a very happening party place. I stayed with Emilie in Montreal at her place on Saturday night, then we headed to Quebec City to see old Quebec and visit her parents who made a delicious dinner for us. Monday we spent the day at 6 Flags in Montreal which was much better than Playland in Vancouver. Tuesday me and Emilie just cruised around Montreal and then we headed to the airport for my flight to London and onto Aberdeen.... read more

North America » Canada » British Columbia » Vancouver August 18th 2007

Well, here is my first journal entry for my 2007 world trip... its a little late, but I finally got some time in athens to start it up. My trip initially started back home in Vancouver, where I stayed downtown a few nights with some friends and then hung out with friends and family back in my home town of Chilliwack. Nothing too much exciting, just visiting mostly. Emilie was going to fly down to Vancouver to visit me, but it worked out to be much cheaper for me to fly to Montreal to stay with her there on my way to London. So my Vancouver trip was cut short from my initial plan by about 4 days, it lasted a week.... read more

Oceania » Fiji » Viti Levu » Nadi September 10th 2006

I arrived at the Fiji Bay Resort in the evening and ended up just having a late dinner and then off to bed. Having only three days here, my initial plan was to just stay at this backpackers resort for the entire time. However, after talking to some backpackers in my dorm, I found out that Beachcomber Island is only a 30 minute boat ride away and is much more fun than the mainland. So early the next morning I climbed aboard the Beachcomber tour boat and headed off to their island. Beachcomber Island Resort is a blast, its small, but full of everything you could want to do. Great snorkeling, diving, parasailing, seadooing, tubing and banana-boating, along with nice sandy beaches and warm seas. I spent two days here, just relaxed the first day, spent ... read more

North America » United States » Hawaii » Oahu September 5th 2006

Well my trip back home was awesome, yet very expensive and very unhealthy due to large consumptions of alcohol. This was all to change as I relaxed at beaches in Hawaii and later to Fiji. I only had 2 days here in Hawaii, and planned to spend them all on Waikiki Beach. The days were great, I shopped a bit and bought a few clothes, but spent most of my time on the beach listening to my iPod and taking short swims in the sea. Funny thing, I was actually offered $100 US dollars for a Hawaiian local to give ME a blow job on the beach... unfortunately the local was a man, and I was forced to decline. My last night however, took a slight unplanned turn when everyone at the hostel decided that everyone ... read more

It was great to come back home. See all my friends and family I had not seen for over a year. Arriving home I was suprised that my parents had not touched my room, it felt so good to sleep in my bed again. Over the first week I spent a lot of time on the river with friends. Floating down Vedder river with tubes, dingies and case loads of beer over a 4 hour time span is the most relaxing enjoyable thing ever! I spent a couple nights in downtown Vancouver with more friends visiting some pubs and clubs. Went down south across the border with family to watch the Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees baseball game. Headed to Vancouver Island over a weekend to visit even more family as we toured Victoria, dipped ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom August 14th 2006

Before getting to Scotland I stayed a couple nights in Amsterdam, and I must say that is party central. Awesome city! I joined a couple pub crawls and did a little window shopping in the red light district, just browsing though. Upon arriving in Scotland my buddy Adam was waiting for me at the airport, he picked me up and we headed back to his place where I was to stay. He didn't really have any plans laid out for my visit, but some how we managed to fill each day with many random events. The first night we went out wakeboarding, this was sweet, as I have never tried to wakeboard before but did manage to get up on my first try. Afterwards we had a BBQ. The next day we drove some beautiful classical ... read more
