We arrived at General Butler State Park campground around 5pm, drove back to our site and it appears to be too short and too steep, but the campground is full so there aren't any other choices. The camper next to us 'Bob' Comes over to give advice and recommendations. We successfully got the RV in, but the slope was so steep he couldn't get it level enough-we'd be walking uphill to get to our bedroom. It's extremely humid and we are soaking wet. Pati arrives from Ft Wright, KY in her cute blue convertable Mustang. Ken asks us to go up to the office and ask if there are any possible alternative sites. We get there just as they had a cancellation. Pati and I check it out; it's a lot more level, so we go ... read more

Ken set the alarm for 6 am. After my second snooze (he was outside -doing last minute things), I hear Ken talking to someone outside. The next thing I know, there is a chocolate lab puppy in my bed! The puppy belongs to Eddie, a worker at the park. 'Lil' is 8 weeks old. She is so cute. When she gets older Lil will mate with 'Kyle' a white lab with yellow spots and Eddie is going to call us when the pups are born. Maybe we'll be ready for a puppy. We forgot to take a picture! We showered, made our coffee 'to go' and left Stone Mountain. We hit morning rush hour traffic on the 285 loop out of Atlanta. At least it's not raining. We listened to some news on Sirius as long ... read more

Saturday, August 24 It rained all night. I slept in until 9:30. I took 2 Vicks Night Time pills so I was pretty sleepy. We aren't in a hurry. We have our normal breakfast and then pack up for travel. called Pati; her birthday is today. We leave the park about noon, headed to Stone Mountain, GA. I will be working in ATL this week. Stone Mountain is about 20 minutes from my office. It's a beautiful park. The campground sits on the shores of the lake. We arrived at the park and I decided to go grocery shopping while Ken set up the RV. it's not a lot of work; we really have a routine down. When I returned he had the Red Sox and Dodgers game on. We watched the game for awhile. For ... read more

I slept late this morning; got up around 9 am. We had our routine (coffee, oj, ww blueberry waffles and Ken's toast). We decided to explore today...wherever...the sun is shining which is a treat for us these days. We pick up a turkey sandwich from Subway and head to Black Rock Mountain State park. It's an 1800 acre park, the highest in Georgia. It is part of the Blue Ridge mountains. The elevation is 3640 feet. It is a beautiful drive and we stop along the way to enjoy the view. With all the rain I can imagine how beautiful the autumn will be. As we head back down the mountain, we went a different way and drove through beautiful farm lands. We came across a working grist mill. (see picture) We continue down the mountain, ... read more

Well I'm glad I had work to do, because the rest of the day was rough- Not knowing when we will see the girls again. Let's just say we are not dealing with a normal situation here. Ken calls from Ingles (grocery store) on his way home to see if we need anything. He picks up a 'Cool Lime Refresher' for me; my newest favorite afternoon drink from Starbucks. We made a sandwich for lunch. He's got a few chores to do outside. After I am finished with my work for the day, I take a shower and we decided go out for dinner. I need to get out! We went to Mama G's again and have salads and pizza again-this time with broccoli, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms. We had the yummy rolls again. Afterwards we ... read more

Well, as we arrived at camp last night, it began to rain! It only lasted a few minutes, so Pops and Lola went out and attempted to build a fire. Everything is so wet, including our stack of wood. He used gasoline to start it. While he was working on it, Bella wanted me to come inside and show me all of her clothes she 'inherited' from her older cousin. It was fun going through everything...she is growing up! Lola received some new school clothes from Jason and Amy and was excited to try them on for me. She wants to wear one of the outfits tomorrow! Pops gave up on the fire!! Every once in a while Lola would say, 'I miss daddy' and then I wish I could stay with you and Pops for ... read more

When we woke up it was raining again. After a shower, I had coffee in my office-see the picture. We left in the afternoon to head to Atlanta to pick up the girls: Lola who spends her summers in Las Vegas with her dad (my son) and Bella who spends her summers in Tucson with her dad (Lola's mom's first husband); Ken will take them tomorrow to their mom's home in Bryson City, NC. complicated, huh? I love having the 4G LTE/Verizon. I can be on line just about anywhere so I was able to work on the drive to the airport. We arrive at the airport and get our passes to get back to the gates. Lola is flying Delta and arrives first. She is the last to get off and smiles as soon as ... read more

August 19-Woke up several times last night to the sound of rain...this rain is unbelievable. Got up at 6:30 to begin my remote work. Non eventful day....Ken went shopping while I stayed at the RV. I can't even take a walk for a break...the rain keeps coming. At one point it sounded like something jumped on the roof of the RV...where is Ken? When he returned, he checked it out and a small limb from the tree above us had fallen on the roof of the RV....probably water logged. Ken grilled pork chops and corn for dinner, I made some Uncle Ben's rice. We read for awhile and went to bed August 20-The rain finally stopped! But it is still cloudy. Took a shower while Ken made coffee...I began my work day. Ken fiddled (fixing things, ... read more

It rained all night...it makes you want to stay in bed...especially when you don't have to get up for anything. It's still raining. The sound on the RV roof is soothing. Ken is making coffee so I get up. We have some of the blueberry coffee cake with our coffee. Yum! Our goal is to get all of the unpacking and purging done today. Bill and Jackie left this morning. They gave us their email and home address and invited us to visit. The campground is emptying out...I'm sure the rain doesn't help. We finished everything except sorting through unneeded clothes. Also did my expenses, a little reading and helped my PA with laundry. We had lunch....still raining. Makes me want to sip on wine and read. For dinner we had leftover soup and blueberry cake. ... read more

Once we arrived at our campsite, we set things up, I made a grocery list and we headed to Ingles. I love this grocery; it's so clean, organized and huge. We made salads from the salad bar. It's kind of late and we don't want to eat a big dinner. We opened a bottle of wine, put in a movie and enjoyed our salads. The movie was stupid: an older one: 'Jackie Brown'. Anyway the campground is beautiful. The host warned us about a black bear that has been showing up each night looking for food. Warned us to not leave any food out. It's so cool that we don't need any air condition. We read for a while and went to bed. We slept good. It's drizzling off an on. Looks like a perfect day ... read more
