My flight left Atlanta Thursday night 15 minutes late. They also changed gates 3 times, once to a completely different terminal. I surely got my exercise in. Apparently there was a mechanical issue that could not be fixed, so they found another jet but it came in from Europe so we had to go to the International terminal. The delay was for customs to search the plane. As I walked on the jet, it was freezing inside. I got to my row. I have the window seat and a couple was already in the aisle and middle seat. I noticed they both had fresh clean airline blankets (still in the plastic). I thought wow, I would love one. As I got situated in my seat, I saw an extra one next to the man's bag on ... read more

September 9-12 The week went well. I was busy at work which is good. Pleasant, nice colleagues; it's really hard to complain...I love the work too. Each evening I would have a light dinner (yogurt or cheese/crackers and a glass of wine). One night I had to complete a required annual HIPPA training course on line for my consulting company. It was extra long and I was up later than I anticipated. I hate those things. I have taken so many over the years. I talk to Ken each night. We miss spending our evenings together. He is keeping busy in Asheville at the RV campground. He is driving down on Wednesday to Atlanta and will stay in the hotel with me. On Thursday evening we fly back home to Tucson for 9 days! Can't wait!!! ... read more

We had our coffee inside and took a walk around the campground afterwards. I didn't want to walk down in the woods because of all of the spider webs. I packed for the week. I am flying to Atlanta to work on site this week. Ken dropped me off at the Asheville Regional airport. What a cute little airport. I am literally at my gate in 5 minutes. They have wooden rocking chairs near the windows. I bought a turkey sandwich and water for lunch/dinner. I'm flying on a comfortable 80 passenger regional jet. I sat next to a lady who must have had garlic last night. Probably pay back for all the times I have eaten garlic...I love garlic! She is going to Uruguay for a two week vacation. She is meeting her tour group ... read more

We decided to put our coffee in to-go cups and take a walk this morning. We walked down to the tent and yurt area. I guess that's why they call it Campfire Lodgings. I've never seen a yurt. I don't think I'd want to stay in one....seems a bit claustrophobic. It's foggy this morning, the temperature is cooler..fall is in the air. As we are walking along the trail, I suddenly stop because in front of me is a huge spider web. I would have freaked out if I had walked in to it! I made Ken walk in front of me and we see lots of spider webs! I took a few pictures, they are hard to photograph. We walked back to our RV and finished our OJ. Our neighbors who bought all the shoes ... read more

The movie last night (The Tourist) was just ok. I thought Angelina Jolie looked too thin. Ken thought it was dumb. Anyway, we read for a little, then I had trouble going to sleep. I started thinking about how this time next week I will actually be at my real home in Tucson. I'm excited! We will be there for 10 days. To see all 3 of my sons (Jason, Amy and Josh will visit) and Amy will be so fun. Also we will celebrate Annie's Birthday. We got up at 7am but by the time we had cofee, showered and packed up, it was 9 am before we pulled out of Carrollton, KY. I'm not sure if I'll ever be back here...definitely not this park. But it is a pretty part of the country. We ... read more

Up early for work. I pretty much stayed in my jammies all day while working. Nice! I had a few conference calls/meetings and lots to do. Ken went over to our neighbors (David and Joyce) to join him for coffee by the campfire. Dave is going to a gun shop today so Ken decided to join him. When he returns we have lunch-a slice of whole wheat toast, peanut butter and a slice of Swiss cheese. It is really good, you should try it! Ken piddles the rest of the day-washes the truck, organizes the 'basement' of the RV. I worked the rest of the day, took a shower and we went out for dinner-Hometown Pizza again. The waitress called me 'darling'. We had a thin crust pizza with bacon, mushrooms, banana peppers, onions. We kind ... read more

We set the alarm for 6:30. I work remotely today. I showered, then drank coffee and ate one of those delicious cinnamon squares. Pati and Ken made a shopping list for Home Depot; they have a few projects planned while I work. They left and I had some quiet time to get work done. Ken is putting up a shade on her balcony. She gets the morning sun. He also set up a log holder; she has a wood burning fireplace. Once thy returned and got busy, they had to return for a couple more things. They picked up lunch from a little deli-delicious homemade sandwiches. We called Josh to wish him a Happy Birthday and chat. Miss him! I worked the rest of day and then we packed up and said our goodbyes to Pati. ... read more

We slept in; it's a holiday!! 29 years ago today I was in Labor on Labor Day! Josh's B-day Sept 3rd. We had coffee out on Pati's balcony. I wish I had taken a picture. It is pretty; her plants and flowers are beautiful...the humming birds are always fighting. We were lazy most of the morning; we started our laundry. We brought it with us; much easier than doing it at a laundry mat. We took showers then headed down to the Great American Ball Park. We parked at Pati's work lot...so convenient; it is one block to the stadium. We stopped at the Red's gift shop outside the ballpark. We asked if they had any Pete Rose shirts, hats, etc. Of course the answer is no. Major League baseball will not allow anything with his ... read more

We woke up, had our coffee, toast and waffles. The rain finally stopped! Pati is going to go kayaking with her sisters today (we were invited but are going to see an old friend) so she leaves to head to her sisters in Florence, KY. Ken and I pack some clothes for the few days we are going to stay with Pati. She lives about 10 minutes from the Ohio River in Cincinnati, in Ft Wright, KY. We arrive at her apartment and take showers then head to Colerain Ave to meet Crash and Helen. Who is Crash you ask? Crash is a friend of ours from the 70s. I knew his brother from grade school-they lived down the street from me on Fairbanks Ave in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ken got to know him because they went ... read more

When I wake up, Pati and Ken are gone...they are walking the campground. I get up and make my latte. They returned a few minutes later, hot and sweaty although they tried to act like they weren't hot. Pati had yogurt, Ken had toast and of course I had my waffles (by the way, I eat them dry, right out of the toaster-the only good ones are the whole grain blueberry Egos). Afterwards we get ready to go....we are going to explore wineries today. I had no idea there were any wineries in Kentucky. In fact the owner of the winery told me the first one in the US was in KY. I found it hard to believe so I researched it. Wikipedia says: "The first commercial winery in the United States was established by an ... read more
