October 28- October 31 I worked from the RV. The view from my office is beautiful. Autumn in North Carolina cannot be beat. On Thursday, Halloween, it was rainy, dark, windy and just spooky! By the end of the day, the rain stopped. I was happy about that for the trick or treaters. We went out to our usual Thursday dinner at Avenue M. I thought it would be crowded, but it wasn't. The employees were dressed up for Halloween. Our server, Sarah was dressed for 'Breast Cancer Awareness'. She had put two big pink balloons in her low cut shirt...wow! Another girl was walking around with a clear plastic bag around her, filled with multicolor balloons. They had a contest-you had to guess how many balloons were in her plastic bag. I guessed 54, Ken ... read more

After a work week in Atlanta, Ken picked me up at the Asheville airport. We kept our routine and went to Avenue M for dinner. We usually get the scallop special, but it came with grits this week (each week they have a different variety), so we got the roasted chicken dinner and split it. We both got a salad. There was a family of 5 (mom, dad, 3 boys) in a booth near us. I should be used to seeing kids at restaurants out of control, no manners but it still is disturbing to me. Is this part of the new generation? No discipline, no respect, no manners, do what you want. So sad to me. We enjoyed our dinner and headed back to the RV. It was cold. I love this fireplace in the ... read more

My flight doesn't leave until 5:40 from Asheville so we didn't have to set the alarm. I did get up before the girls and took my shower. Lola woke up and was upset that I wasn't still in bed so she could join me so I crawled in her bed to snuggle a bit. We are not sure if we will see the girls again before Christmas so I can feel the blues sneaking in. After breakfast we packed up and loaded the truck. I want to take some pictures for Christmas cards so we will look for a nice outdoor space on our way back to Bryson City. It's another beautiful day. We found a nice spot along the Tuckasegee River. We got some good pictures. It was time to say goodbye....hate this part. Ken ... read more

We slept in and then had our coffee, tea, oj, bacon, cinnamon toast and I had scrambled egg whites. We got ready for our adventure today: horseback riding. Ken had checked out a place nearby earlier in the week so we felt comfortable with the place we were going. The girls were so excited....me..not so much. I used to ride a lot...when I was 18 years old. We got there and had to wait on another family. They finally arrived-a young family-mom, dad, and 3 little boys, 2,6 and 8. The eight year old was supposed to go by himself but he starting crying so he rode with his dad and the 6 year old. The mom rode with the little guy-who was so cute. It kind of reminded me of my guys when they were ... read more

We all slept in. It was a cool morning. Ken built a fire outside; I turned on the fireplace in the RV. For breakfast we had: coffee, tea, hot chocolate (Lola helped and added marshmallows as it was warming on the stove), bacon, toast, oatmeal and eggs!! After breakfast, Lola wanted to use the First Aid kit-pretending she was a doctor and I am the patient. She was so funny; she really gets in to role playing. At the end, I had band aids and ointment everywhere! The girls took a shower and we dressed for hiking. I made a lunch to take with us. It is an absolutely perfect fall day. Sunshine, cool, blue skies, no wind. Couldn't be better!! We drove to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (just a mile or so). We ... read more

After a working week in Atlanta, I couldn't wait to fly to Asheville. Bella and Lola are spending the weekend with us! I had a late flight out of Atlanta, arriving in Asheville at 8:40. Ken had picked Bella and Lola up after school in Bryson City, and they came with him. They are spending the weekend with us! They were all waiting for my arrival at the airport in Asheville. As I approached the truck outside of baggage claim, Ken jumped out of the truck and said-"don't get excited, but Bella hit her head on the mirror of the truck (she was 'horsing' around) and she has a cut that was bleeding pretty badly; we need to see if she needs stitches." She was laying down in the backseat with ice on her injury. I ... read more

We took a walk around the campground...of course we stopped and talked to a few folks. One couple has a 'Cameo' RV- the same manufacturer as ours. Theirs is newer and bigger. We asked them questions about it and they asked if we wanted to see it. That was our goal all along. :) It was really nice! They were talkers! They are retired, sold their house and RV full time. They travel all over the country. Their next stop is Helen, GA, outside of Atlanta for some kind of race car rally. I guess the race track has a place for RVs. I think it is a club of 'RVers'. Anyway the wife was cooking dinner (and burnt the potatoes while she was talking to us), so we told them we'd let them eat dinner. ... read more

I slept in; still have a nasty cough and runny nose-but honestly I'd sleep in even if I was feeling great! When you get up at 5:30 each work day and work 10 hour days, sleeping in is such a treat! We had our breakfast then decided to go to Trader Joe's. We are moving to a campground in Cherokee, NC for the next 10 days. The town of Cherokee is very limited in stores so I want to get a few things in Asheville before we head out: apples, strawberries, lemons, garlic, onions, green beans, romaine, canned diced tomatoes, turkey breast slices, Swiss cheese, fresh ground turkey, fresh chicken breasts, frozen shrimp and cod. We go back to the campground and pack up. We will be back here in about 10 days. When we made ... read more

Sunday morning I had an early flight. After breakfast and showers Ken dropped me off at the Asheville airport. It was very foggy and my flight was a few minutes late taking off because our plane, coming from Atlanta was held on the ground in Atlanta until the fog lifted here in Asheville. I got to sit in one of the rocking chairs facing the runway (they are always occupied!) and watch the fog lift; so pretty. An hour later I am on the ground in Atlanta. I get my car and head to the grocery. With this special diet my food is very specific so I have to be prepared. I get to my room and settle in, eat dinner (chicken breast and green beans, apple for dessert :) My work week was fine but ... read more

We definitely slept in! After tea, coffee, toast and egg whites we took showers. Our goal was to go exploring but honestly we felt so sick we decided to take it easy and stay at the campground. We had dinner reservations at 'The Admiral' so we did venture out for that. I had an arugula salad, Ken had a baguette/butter and we shared Mahi, cauliflower and asparagus. After returning to the RV Ken went to join his friends for a drink, I just wanted to rest. This is a nasty cold or whatever it is! We watched some baseball and then went to bed. Saturday- our usual routine, but today we must get out for awhile! We head to the 'True Nature Country Fair' (a celebration of life in connection with the earth). I'm not sure ... read more
