We got up at 7 am and had our lattes inside by the fireplace. Ken made oatmeal, Henna cooked hashbrowns and bangers on the grill. It warmed up enough to eat outside...another beautiful day. Afterwards it was time for showers. We then drove to Lake Skinner Park to check it out. They have a campground and we want to see how the fishing is in the lake. The park is really run down and the lake is not stocked. We asked some fishermen if they caught anything and they said no, not even a nibble. We then drove in to Temeculah Old Town. This is where the Rod Run is. Friday night was the actual 'Run' where they cruise up and down the street. Today the cars will be parked along the streets to walk by ... read more

We arrived in Temecula around 4 pm. We set up and created out outdoor area behind our RV. Larry and Henna are right next to us. We are staying at Pechanga RV Resort. It sits right next to some mountains and is a nice park. We enjoyed cheese, blackberries, adult beverages and the warm sunshine, but as soon as the sun began to set, the temperature dropped quickly. Ken brought out our heater and Henna sat right next to it. This is the same heater that Henna stood too close to and caught her pants on fire at our yard sale a few years ago! Larry and Ken decided to take a bike ride and Henna and I went inside to start dinner. We put the green beans and diced potatoes on and enjoyed talking and ... read more

Heading to California for the next week. I flew in from Atlanta to Tucson last night. As an update, I am still working at Children's Healthcare in Atlanta. I fly there every other week and work from 'home' the week I am not there. 'Home' is wherever I am with Ken. We have stayed in Tucson since Thanksgiving so we are feeling very anxious to get back out there! Ken has been getting some needed chores done at the house and we have been enjoying the glorious winter in the desert. As usual my flight is late out of Atlanta. It's been a horrible winter in Atlanta and as I head to the airport it is 37 degrees and raining. The most miserable kind of weather. I try to prepare my attitude as I approach the ... read more

Happy Veteran's Day! It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you. We woke up at 6 am; it's 19 degrees, frost on the truck! Hot showers, eggs, coffee, tea and we are ready to go. Our morning drive is stunning- winding through the mountains, the river following along the road, the sunrise reflecting in the water, fishermen in the river, little towns. Our destination today is Las Vegas. Jason and Amy live there and it's a good stopping place for this long journey. I will work from there this week and then fly to Atlanta from there on Sunday. Ken will stay probably until Monday and then head home to Tucson with the RV. Time to settle back in our real home. I will continue to work ... read more

Wow, crossing over the mountains outside of Denver. If you haven't done it, put it on your bucket list. In fact the whole drive from Denver to the Utah border is something you should do. I-70 winds along the Eagle and Colorado River through Vail and Aspen and many ski towns and other small towns between the mountain ranges. It's hard to get much done other than look out the window. Henna called to chat; we got a funny email from Annie-I miss my girlfriends. It was actually kind of tense pulling the RV over the mountains. We had stopped at a Chipotle before climbing the mountain and Ken had to put his burrito down so he could concentrate on driving. We did fine, you just had to be careful. There was snow on the mountains ... read more

We went to bed pretty early. Another RV pulled in next to us which made me feel better. It feels kind of weird staying in a parking lot. Of course Ken introduced himself. A couple older than us heading to Denver for their daughter's surgery. He wished them well. I know sometimes I make fun of Ken for talking to EVERYONE he meets, but it really is helpful. I just don't like when they come knocking on my door when I'm getting out of the shower (fortunately that didn't happen last night). We are hoping we have enough water in our tank for showers tomorrow. We have a generator so we are good with power. The Walmart is open 24 hours and several times during the night I heard vehicles, but slept pretty good. Up at ... read more

Forgot to say we drove 495 miles yesterday. We got up at 6am (Ken got up around 5am)-he was excited like a little kid; he loves the road trips! We took showers and we were ready to go. I forgot to say last night on our way back to our RV we saw 6 deer near our camp (they were alive!-we've seen so many dead ones one the road). it's another beautiful sunny day. We stopped at Starbucks and got on the road (7 am). Out of Chesterfield (our campground), we got on I-64 to I-70. We will be on this highway a long tome- all the way until we hit I-15, which we take to Las Vegas. We are going to stop and spend some time with Jason and Amy before heading to Tucson. Can't ... read more

Driving through North Georgia to Chattanooga, Tennessee headed to Nashville. We crossed over the Tennessee River. Beautiful land, climbing mountains now. Signs along the way: Big Daddy's Fireworks, Rocky Top Restaurant and Truck Center, Stuckey's, Battlecreek Log Homes, Monteagle Winery, Smokehouse Restaurant, Beans Creek Winery (wine country?), Kilby's Furniture, Antique World, George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey Distillery Tours, World's Famous Bell Buckle Cafe. We passed through Nashville at 10:30 am. Signs we see: Old Fort Liquor Wine and Beer, Nashville Zoo, Nashville International Airport, Opryland, Boot Country, Gibson/Baldwin Headquarters. We stopped in Clarksville, TN for Starbucks and got some chicken breast and pickles out of the RV. We got back on the road, just entered Kentucky....lots of harvested corn fields. I had a good work week. It was nice staying in Stone Mountain Park and coming back there each night. We have the RV and Ken drives me to work each day. I do not like daylight savings time that moved the clock back an hour. It is dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. It makes me feel like I missed out on something. On Thursday while Ken was at the campground laundromat, he met some ladies whose husbands are extras in a movie they are shooting at the park-The new Dumb and Dumber! I think Ken and my sons know every word of that movie. Today (Friday) Jim Carrey will be there; but we are on the road. We set the alarm for 5am and were pulling out of ... read more
