Well on the way to another adventure, but theory of "When Angels Travel" has gone up in smoke!! Left Melbourne on Thursday 5th to fly to Seoul via Hong Kong with Cathay, arrived Hong Kong late and misconnected our flight to Seoul....Cathay were absolutely pathetic handling this situation...in fact we could have made our flight as we had about 1/2hr...but they refused....I bet they were overbooked!!! Then an 8 hr wait at Hong Kong for another flight at 3.30a.m. with Asiana, had never heard of this airline, but they turned out to be very good, tried to get a little sleep on the flight but it was only 3 1/2hrs so just a catnap...arrived into Seoul 5.00a.m...had to get taxi as no one could meet us...arrived at Stanford Hotel...lovely hotel but only enough time to shower ... read more

Well still a gruelling trip, no let up yet! Left Neptune Luxury Lodge at 7.30a.m. heading for Lemala Erawanjan Camp...after a couple of hours stopped at Oldapai Gorge...the archaeological site which is one of the most significant in the world where the Leckies made famous discoveries of early humans...very interesting and their new museum opens up in a month. Kept heading onto our destination and boy oh boy were the roads bad, our New Zealand couple said they were the worst roads they had encountered in Africa after spending three weeks travelling around Kenya before joining us in Tanzania, the corrugation was unbelievableand the dust unbearable, three of us had to go to our surgical masks it was that bad, if jiggling up and down made you lose weight I reckon we would have lost kgs ... read more

After a leisurely breakfast headed for our next stop Ngorongoro Crater. Enroute stopped at karratu township for a wander through the market...just loved it...seeing what the locals get up to on a daily basis! Then drove to our new home Neptune Luxury Lodge for two nights...all inclusive...that could be messy! Beers, wines and cocktails all included. Lovely lunch overlooking the pool and valley down below where coffee is being harvested! Then swim and cocktails by the pool...what a lovely way to spend some free time! Then as dusk came there were about 20 elephants came into view from our balcony...what a sight! Thurs spent the whole day game driving down in the base of the Ngorongoro crater, shocking bumpy dusty roads but all worth it. Saw a variety of animals today including the crown bird, hyena ... read more

So back to Vic Falls for the night! Next day we split from our group and managed to get a flight from Livingston Airport in Zambia direct to Nairobi, as the others were going JoBurg to Nairobi....we didnt want to lose any days on our trip and in any case we were on a different tour to others from Nairobi. At about $700 each aud! Rip off! What a day, two border crossings...$50usd for visa into Zambia just to get a flight, three taxi rides and 9hr wait at Livingstone airport....finally got to Nairobi and crashed into bed ... read more

This trip is gruelling....long days...early mornings and late nights...but you really have to make the most of it and see as much as you can while you can. Takes us extra time to get ready every day with applying deet, deet and more deet, our tour guide contracted malaria about 4 weeks ago, so we have to be vigilent. Took the long 7hr drive back to JoBurg from Thornybush, visiting the potholes and the Blyth Canyon on the way. Overnight JoBurg and took flight next morning to Victoria Falls, I think this would have to be the smallest international airport we have ever been to. Bused to our beautiful hotel The Victoria Falls Hotel, what a grand old dame she is, built in 1906 and virtually right in Vic Falls. Took a cruise down the Zambezi ... read more

Well Saturday morning up 3.45a.m., bus 4.45a.m. to airport, Cape Town to JoBurg again, then bus for 6hrs to a township about an hour away from Thornybush where we were transferred to small mini buses and transported to the Thornybush Game Reserve main gate where we were met by our guide and spotter for a game drive 4.00p.m. Whoooo! what a day! Brad our guide/driver is brilliant as is Orlando the spotter and tracker....alll I ever wanted to achieve whilst in Africa was to see a leopard, bucket list....ticked! It was amazing the leopard had killed an impala and dragged the kill up a tree and we were feet away watching it feast on the impala. The excitement was high, even Brad was so, so excited, he hadn't seen this before having been a guide in ... read more

Well we have finally arrived in Cape Town...a mega 26hr journey...Melb to Perth...Perth to JoBurg...JoBurg to Cape Town....the Temaze really did help, we have never taken sleeping tablets...a wonderful thing to get 5hrs straight sleep! Cape Town is not really what we were expecting, its seems very clean, pretty and has a nearly nice vibe to it. Couple of issues with our hotel to start with but now sorted and in a great spot right on the water close to the V&A Waterfront...walking distance to attractions, restaurants etc. Have never stayed at a Radisson Blu Hotel, very comfortable but nothing to rave about. Day one out on the walking trail down to the waterfront which is such a great area to browse around and soak up the atmosphere, then for a 2klm walk to Hussar Grill...fantastic ... read more

We have had a fun two weeks with Mark and then the arrival of Kaz, Reg and grandchildren Lachy and Mariah. It takes us about 45 minutes to walk where they are staying so that gets us going some days. Sunday night we had dinner on the beach which was nice, then Tuesday after Kaz and Reg went to the dentist for crowns etc we went to the BBQ on the rooftop bar of Upaasha which is always a treat with delicious seafood and meats and there is always a great selection of other foods as well. Been out to Reg and Adele's home a couple of times for dinner and had a wonderful time with them, Noah is growing up and getting fantastic grades at his school, should too with fees at $14,000 US for ... read more
