A 5 hour drive from Steyr to Trento in the Italian Alps, Dolomites as they are known, Trento was truly a lovely surprise, we picked it because it was just over the halfway mark down to Lucca, we were so glad we picked it! Our hotel was magnificent and a moderate price really and another historic place surrounded by the magnificant mountains. Our drive through the Brenner pass was so scenic, we just loved it! Mark's friend in Steyr said, don't be surprised if it snows going through the pass, but the day ended up being magnificent and the sun was shining warm and strong....arriving in Trento it was 28 degrees, couldn't believe it , thought we would have had to break out the woollies but not to be! Took a walk around town and had ... read more

Took us six hours to drive up to Steyr, such a beautiful drive through all the mountains and countryside, arrived Steyr around 2.30p.m. and found our hotel, the Mader, such a beautiful hotel, built in 1694, in the middle of the old town of Steyr, the biggest suite we have every had and it overlooked the whole of the square in Steyr! Waiting to meet Mark's brother Pete, who had flown to Norway to meet a mate and they both rode motorbikes, Pete had bought an old BMW,and rode it threw through Scandinavia, Poland, Germany etc to meet up with us in Steyr, they limped in around 3.30p.m. after a long days ride, beers and chats all round! Pete and Mark's friends have all lived in Steyr their whole life, so it was so lovely to ... read more

Pretty easy drive up from Florence and we are staying in Mogliano just outside Venice as we have a car and a bit hard for parking. 10 minute train ride into Venice so suited us down to the ground, the B&B we are staying at is lovely, very newly renovated and has everything we need, Villa Salvoro. On our first afternoon headed down to the local restaurant/bar Il Nottambulo, went for lunch stayed for dinner??!! Enough said! The most magnificent steak of 2.2 kg shared between all of us, wobbled home at 10pm! Up early next day to head into Venice for the day, took a tour over three islands and then just soaked up the atmosphere of Venice, all the islands different, Morano (where all the beautiful Morano glass is blown) Burano and the main ... read more

A fairly easy drive from Rome, only took us three hours and very pretty, passed where we stayed in Citta della Pieve, Chiusi etc. Check in was 2.00p.m. so went and had a local lunch in Florence, it was delicious and cheap as...the lady even asked us where we got to know about them because she said "it is strange to see people like you", mmmm very local and very nice too! Our apartment is on the river in Florence but about a 30 minute walk from the centre which suits us again as we like to be in a more local area than in the very touristic parts full of tourists! Our apartment is lovely on the first floor, with a lift!!! (after Roma where out apartment was on the fourth floor with a winding ... read more

Into Roma Saturday midday, we have a lovely modern apartment in Lazio! it is a beautiful area, very green and lots of trees, very close to restaurants, supermarkets etc but in a very local area which we love! We have a the top floor penthouse, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, lounge and dining area, huge terrace area but a bit too hot and humid for sitting out on the terrace! We are finding the weather a bit more humid that we expected but lovely and warm just the same. Found a great place for dinner on first night Bruno...then headed home for bed..bit exhausted after early rise and long drive. Sunday off to the Porta Portese Flea Market....Kaz shopped til she dropped....great experience....found a lunch spot near the Colosseum, t hen off to the Colosseum for ... read more

First day presented us with a bottle of wine, salami, cheese, bread and snacks...so lovely! Our bathroom wasn't to our standard and they came into bleach etc whilst we were out at Pompeii and then when we got home came in with the hugest cake and a bottle of Limoncello and a lovely note apologising..very gorgeous Italian family! First day settled in and second morning off to Pompei....most amazing place and since we were here in 2013 are ... read more

Well what a week we have had here in Citta della Pieve! So much fun, laughter, jokes, stories, food and wine! A few of us had our first night in Chiusi prior to going to the villa on the Saturday, with our flight been late from London to Rome, the car hire place not been able to find our car, they were the rudest pack of retards we couldn't believe it, 7 of the crew had to catch the train to Chiusi and then we drove up from Rome later that night getting into Chiusi around 12.15a.m. Boy was that a long day! Our week at Podere Baiocco could not have been more perfect, we had Jacopo the owner organise a welcome dinner for the first night, which was combined with Tim's 65th birthday, but Blake ... read more

We had booked private guide to meet at the Information Centre in the middle of the old town at 10.00a.m. Met up with Ariel, such a lovely girl, just the two of us and off we went! Covered so much ground in the two hours we had with her it as fantastic! She is a uni graduate majoring in language and psychology, and as she said that now qualifies her for unemployment but she is lucky to have this job as a tour guide!!! 21 years old and what what a joy she was! Old town of Tallinn is a walled city perched up high overlooking the sea and surrounding areas. Showed us over the upper town and lower town, lots and lots of walking, she showed us a few extra sites as she said we ... read more

St Petersburg, well nothing like we expected! I know I am going to bore you with photos and text but so hard to condense what we saw in just two days! Opulence, opulence! Glitz, gold and oozing money but we know there are very poor people here too! Did not know how we would go, booked a small private tour with a company who said they get Visa waivers but all good. The ship said all guests who do their tours get a visa waiver but all others have to get their own private visa before leaving Australia, again Princess is Princess trying to rip us, their tour was $1200 for two for two full days in St Petersburg and Alla Tours were $740 for the same and more sights and the more tours you book ... read more
