You are a bit behind...
you published your Tuesday thoughts on Friday. But all is forgiven. I can't remember what day of the week is either, except with a calendar next to me and the date on the lower right corner of my computer. To pass the time away we just signed up for the Britbox streaming service so we are enjoying our favorite British programs once again. We just discovered that there are two more seasons of Midsomer Murders we missed. And we are watching Rosemary and Thyme, which reminds us of you as they know the names of every flower.

I just Googled Globecar...
I think I would be satisfied with the Globescout. Good luck getting the free use of your favorite model for one year!

My imaginary letter
I only sent it in my mind Bob we are never that lucky . We have a 600 L - I cant remember the new one we saw but we did fall in love with it . Still we wont be swapping Gabby . Hope you are still keeping well . Sounds like you have Covid 19 and recent issues with the death and protests all around the states to cope with now. The world is a sad place with events like these . We have protests too all round the country .

Globecar
Good luck if you get a new van to trial for a year!! Can we borrow your old one!! lol, We have been looking for a cheap van for when lockdown ends but they seem to have all gone up in price! I am bereft without a Campervan!!! I think its definitely going to be the safest way to go travelling!! Im just so glad that we have all been to so many places before this virus appeared - we were also so lucky to get our cruise around South America in February as well!!

My imaginary letter
Hi Jackie - my imagination went wild reading a blog called The Office is closed . I dont know how they managed it but they have been travelling for nearly two years in that borrowed Laika . All I kept thinking was how do they do it . My letter if I ever sent it would end up in Room 101 . I think a lot of the older ones have spiked in price due to the new tax on the new ones . I know that was changed in the budget eventually but it still has sent old vans through the roof . We fell in love with a new one when we went to take something back to SMC in Newark but to be honest the cost was well over 50K just to start and then we said to each other - add on the solar panels, the lithium battery , the MIFI , the two gas cylinders plus the TV dome and we would be somewhere well over 60K . We loved the overhead cab huge window but then wondered just how much it would cost to replace if it ever broke and couldnt be done under warranty . Thousands . In the end we loved it and left it and said we just would not justify spending any more money buying a new one . Gabby is fine . I dont think if I sent any letter I would be lucky enough to get a freebie . When luck was dished out we got all the bad luck . I think that there will be a mad travel exodus when we are finally released . I dont know where we all will go. Everyone judging by what I read on FB are buying motorhomes without really having any idea about what they cost to upkeep and what to do with them . We are counting down September but dont know if we will get away . We are beginning to feel very frustrated . Working from home and hate it . I miss the company . I dont know about you but this has really changed my thinking . Have you got any travel plans ? How is the veg coming on in the allotment . Had our first strawberry (yes just one ) yesterday and two more ripening today. Peas are flowering and the beans that the frost caught are regrowing . Hope you are still keeping safe. xx

I just cancelled my dental appointment scheduled for today due to concerns about the virus.
I asked to reschedule in July, and they could. Is your delay to December an NHS problem?
28th May 2020

NHS -
Not sure Bob . All dentists are closed at the moment . Just read on the TV that dentists are opening in a week . I am not sure whether it will just be to catch up . I might ring again next week and try to get an update . I can wait three months but dont want to wait 9 - that is just silly of them. Mind you listening to Boris now I think the world has gone mad .

Car Sales
I think they are opening outdoor markets and Car Showrooms, as against dentists and hairdressers, because its easier to be socially distant? Goodness knows when we will ever be able to go to a dentist again - I just bought some expensive mouthwash a few weeks ago!!! I think Boris is a Buffoon - he liked the idea of being Prime Minister - didn't realise that he would actually have to do some work!! I think he should sack Cummings -but will he???'I think you may be alright for September - we haven't got anything booked at all - will just play it by ear! Where is the train booked to? I haven;t worked since I was 52 years - it certainly gives you a lot of freedom- you just need to structure your life! Its a lot easier when we can visit family 3 days a week!!! The days at the moment roll into one but at least the allotment is totally up together!!

dentists
I got a phone call this morning from the dentist cancelling my appt until December !!! I reckon we all will be buying new cars and driving round toothless . I usually see the dentist every three months and the hygienists in between as I have too many teeth and despite having orthodontic work to move them around they are very tight together . I hate to think what they will be like by December . I suppose I understand the logic of keeping them closed but I feel sorry for the hygienists who are self employed. I am sure something could be sorted out especially with testing . if we could guarentee we had nothing and they had nothing then I would let them loose on my teeth. I agree about Boris . My husband thought he was Ok but hates him now . I thought he was idiot and now I think he is just mad . Cummings has something on him and it is clear Boris is incapable of running anything . I noticed that the EU have offered us an extension of two years to Brexit and I just wish they would take it but I bet they dont . We have booked Channel Tunnel for September . Glenn is not keen on going I am chipping away at him but not sure he will go . he is more worried than me . Glad to hear the allotment is coming along nicely . My potatoes are a bit slow in the our clay ground but the ones in the pots are coming on. Peas fine and even the beans which were caught by the frost are picking up. I cannot see me going back to work for some while . The desks are now allocated to staff and there is no room for me . i will be off all of June so should enjoy the sun being paid and not really doing very much . Expecting some software to use a phone on the computer but not arrived yet .

Last night I dreamed that I was on vacation...
driving from Bavaria, through the Alps to the Italian Lake District. Unfortunately it was only a dream.

M1
Yes I saw Boris! I am still angry about Dominic Cummings and to listen to him back him up was. well, shocking! Boris has made so many mistakes,I cant respect him anymore at all. I think you will be ok with a Campervan travelling - I thought they were going to open France but it is not to be at the moment. Campervans are definitely safer than hotels!! I really dont know what we are going to do this year! Sit and rot I expect!! Ironic - I actually get my Pension money in September and prob wont be able to go anywhere to spend it!! Shopping online is it then!!!

I am still shocked
Well - I still feel angry and annoyed at what I heard last night . Our local MP has come out siding with Boris . That might be the death knell for him at the next election . Glenn and I have had differing views on Boris . Glenn quite liked him . I thought him a bumbling idiot and I wonder who is wagging the dogs tail here . DC must have something on him or he is so thick skinned he cant see right from wrong . Just been listening to Nichola Sturgeon and at least she had the balls to come out and say she got it wrong with her adviser but soon realised that mistake she was making . Contempt - the utter contempt beggars belief . I am hoping we will get off sometime . The train is still booked for September . Everything crossed . I dont know if I will go back to work . On the one hand I feel fed up being at home but on the other realise that at 68 I really have to finish some time and I dont think the job is ever going to be the same . I have been listening to Boris heaping praise on us for delivering Universal Credit during the crisis . We have had an offer for a payrise - between 1.5% and 2% Thanks is about all we are worth . I have not had a decent pay rise for about 10 years . Over the last four I got 0.25% each year . So effectively I have going backwards . God I feel angry . September will come round and who knows what life will be like . WE will survive - I am sure . xx

I don't see why you cant go up the M1 if Dominic Cummings can drive 250miles!!! I'm going to see my family next week in Bristol!! I've had enough of 'Do as I Say, not as I Do!! x

doing a Dom
Hi Jackie You could tell Mark Drakeford on your way back that you were just doing a Dom . Hopefully Wales will open soon . My daughter is back at school a week on Monday . Doing one week on and one week off . Apparently as a TA she is not allowed to work with the kids but will spend all her day deep cleaning . She said about 14 children were going to come back and it is going to be awful . Did you listen to Boris tonight ? Oh dear . No respect for him at all xx

Escape...
When we lived in Belgium from 1984 to 1995 we mostly watched BBC and enjoyed all the comedies. Other favorites were Yes, Prime Minister, To the Manor Born, Allo. Allo, Faulty Towers, Black Adder (and anything with Mr. Bean), and Keeping Up Appearances. I hope Glen gets well soon.

glenn
Meant to say he had a cold in January or something much worse but not quite bronchitis . It took weeks to go but did eventually . Love all those programmes - have a look at Upstart Crow if you can get it . Written by the same team who wrote Blackadder . I am sure you would like it . Its about Shakespeare and is very funny
21st May 2020

Yes, I missed your blog yesterday, and feared that you had stopped writing this classic series.
As for ever decreasing circles, we loved that BBC program! And as for Sion, he hasn't been in your blogs lately, so I was glad that you took him for a walk.

escape
Morning Bob - I often wonder about some of our programmes - how they translate when seen in other countries . The humour can be so typically British it is hard to understand at times . Ever decreasing Circles was a good one . Have you ever watched One foot in the grave - similar humour . Then there is Only Fools and Horses . That is a classic . We took the sheep for a ride this morning in Gabby . It felt good . Hope things Ok with you . We hear from a relative in Missouri and she is really fed up with it all . We have heard that anti body tests are coming along well here and we may have them very quickly . glenn had a dreadful cold - worse than the cold but different in January - soon after we got back from France. We wonder if he has had Covid 19 . Keep safe

school
I went to Chipping Sodbury Grammar School - I think there was about 600 pupils! All the teachers wore their long gowns and used to walk around at breaktime yelling 'Clear the Corridors'!! We had a Latin Teacher who looked like Jimmy Edwards!! In the summer the headmistress used to get us up on stage, one by one, kneel down and measure the length from the bottom of your 'summer uniform' to the floor!! It had to be 4".....ie knee length in the days of mini skirts!! And we all used to sing 'Jerusalem' at school assembly!! Happy Days!! - NOT!
17th May 2020

school
I remember well the measuring of the skirts . It was not a problem with the gymslip but once we got into skirts they were rolled over at the top to make them shorter . We had an art teacher Miss Caldicott who used to have jet black hair (obviously dyed as she was ancient ) wore bright red lipstick and nail varnish and looked a cross between a witch and bat . Mr Thomas Physics (we had hardly any male teachers ) - he was was married to Mrs Thomas History used to look down the front of our summer dresses. Having no bust at the time it wasn't a problem for me . I have a bit of a mixed relationship with our school . It was a brilliant school and they gave us a really good all round education - but some of the teachers were awful and others inspirational . We never sang Jerusalem - we had a green school hymnal with English hymns at the front and Welsh at the back . Friday was welsh day when everything was in welsh . In the front we had to stick in the school hymn . God what a dreadful durge it was - Our father by whose servant - I can still sing the damn thing and the school reading was Corinthians Chapter 13 if I remember rightly . If I speak with the tongues etc etc . Both were rolled out on the first and last days of term . happy days - we did like watching the boys from the boys grammar school across the road walking past on the way to the rugby field .

School
I thought you had gone to the same school as me until I saw your motto. But our motto was Mon Dieu et Droit or something like that, and we also wore navy blue berets with a red tassel!! Everything else was the same though!!

schools and shopping
Hi - I had thought about Click and Collect but I usually enjoy going round the shop early on a Saturday morning picking up what I fancy rather than what I think i need. I notice the van outside waiting for customers to turn up to collect their groceries . We lost our runner beans the other night . Glenn covered them all but they were caught by the frost . The potatoes are slow . I should harvest my first crop of lettuce tomorrow . Not doing much today. Been in the "virtual canteen" at work . A colleague set up the Skype session for us . It was interesting to see what was going on . A telekit waste of time too. I cant see us going back for some while . The department are fitting us out with phones of the computers so we can do customer care calls from home. That seems to be the way of the business now. No need for a real jobcentre however just heard the story of the man who has claimed Universal Credit has 8 children and all are blind . Fraud is going to be rife after all of this . There will be some court cases coming out of the wash when it is all over . Mind you we have them already - couples with blind children called A , B, C and D . I am glad I dont do UC. Our school winter hat and summer ones were like pudding basins in the lower school . They looked more like RAF female hats in senior school and were more feminine . Our school was called Grove Park ...........Grammar school for Girls . 900 of us . You can see where the motto came from . Latin woods .arbour was turned into groves to suit the motto . God it was strict but fair I suppose. I still can hear one teacher with a broad scots accent shouting "No talking in the balllllllllllllllllllllllcany girls ". We were never allowed up the front stairs until we were 14 . Only allowed up the back stairs . We had a Steinway piano in the Great Hall which was played every morning before assembly by Mrs Edwards Music as we called her . Good times in an odd way

I can see that your husband is legalistic...
and you are anti-authoritarian. In my family Linda is legalistic and I'm anti-authoritarian.

pessamist v optomist
Yes Bob you got it right . If Boris says don't go out unless you have to Glenn goes with what he says . I bend the rules as far as I can . Glenn is a pessamist whilst I am the optomist . I wouldnt break the rules but then sometimes we have to make a stand . I guess that is why I have always been in the union and fought for the little man against the establishment at work . I hate people telling me I have got to do something . I dont mind them asking me nicely if I would do it but if they tell me then thats it - end of conversation . I guess two people need to be different sometimes - one with one trait and the other with the complete opposite . Glenn is quiet and shy until someone upsets him . I am completely opposite ., reasonable and reasoned until I decide otherwise .
