Travel plans...
I've read in the news that Europe will be open this summer to everyone who has been vaccinated. We are still planing to fly to Edinburgh on 23 August. I hope you remain optimistic!

It is always nice to read about travelers getting together!
There is always so much to share.

Holidays
We are on holiday!!! Llandudno!! We have never been here before so its a nice surprise!! Have now booked Portmerion, Bodnant Gardens, Conwy Castle and Abergele. The sun is shining and we are off exploring the Great Orme! (i think the train and cable car is off!!) Not quite the same as Spain but a holiday none the less!!

Llandudno
Stop it you are making me jealous . I used to work in Llandudno and walk up the Orme or on the pier in my lunchtimes . I like Llandudno and Conwy . Portmeirion is lovely and you cannot fault Bodnant and Conwy castle . We have just been down to Calverhill the other side of Whitchurch to my daughters . That was lovely and our first trip out since release from lockdown . It was lovely walking with her and catching up on gossip . Looks like we might have cancel our Tunnel on the 9th June . I doubt we will be let into France . We are looking to move it again for the fourth time or is it the fifth . September this time fingers crossed . Enjoy the break

Pleased to see that you finally reconnected with Gabby.
I noted the North Wales Pilgrim Trail marker.

pilgrims way
Thought you might like it Bob . There was a little box on the gate with the stamp inside ready for passing pilgrims .

its a mad, mad world
Life seems very boring and hard! Nothing to really look forward to!! Have just learnt that Spain is shutting its borders to UK from 30th March unless you have a good reason for travelling - so I dont think we will get back there anytime soon!! Llandudno it is then!!! lol

mad mad world
Llandudno is nice though. I used to love going on courses to Colwyn Bay , Llandudno and Bangor . We managed to go out today and headed for Talacre and couldnt park for people . It was heaving . Sorry to hear that you wont be able to get to Spain . I wonder if we ever will get back to normal . Work want me to return to the office but as I am now in Wales it is never going to happen . I am hoping to put my manager off until June and then see what happens next . I dont want to retire but Glenn does not fancy a trip to Chesterfield for me to work every few weeks . Have you had your vaccine yet ? We got our first back in February . We were hopeful of getting away once we had the vaccine .

2nd Homes
My belief is that you can only go to your second homes to get them ready to rent out or sale? I'm not sure the Spanish would be too happy to see us at the moment as they have locked the Andalucia borders - mainly to stop people travelling down from Madrid! It seems crazy that we cannot go across the border yet!! We are all the United Kingdom?? Seems that everyone who has family in Wales can see each other. yet if you have all your family , ie son, daughter, grandchildren, parents, sisters, cousins living in Bristol - you cant see them :-( Fed up with it all now!!! We have a week away in Llandudno booked for mid April - it doesnt feel enough!!!

its a mad mad world
I find it ironic but the rich will still travel . Not much point renting out when no-one can travel. It really is irritating me . I have been fed up for a long time and getting more and more angry about it all. Agree its mad at the moment . My daughter called round a few weeks ago when they went to a funeral in WRexham . They sneaked over the border from England and called on their way home . First time I have seen her for over a year . You must be really hacked off not being to get to Spain . We have booked the tunnel for June but that will get cancelled for the fourth time . We are keeping busy doing the house up but we really need a holiday . We have tried to find a way to get out in the van but are not prepared to pay some of the high prices for campsites when we dont want the facilities . We have cancelled our four weeks holiday in April - I still have two weeks I can use but cannot see any point going anywhere . The only place that welcomes us in Powys and done it so many times. Life seems very unfair doesnt it ?

Travel to Scotland in Sep...
I would hope that anyone who has received the Covid vaccine should be allowed entry. Of course, with politicians making the decisions, one never knows.

sEPTEMBER
There is talk here of a covid vaccination passport but whether that comes to fruition will be interesting . I hope so although we are not sure if and when we will get the second dose due to the EU and the games they are playing with the Astra Zeneca vaccine . I think if we get away we will be quarantined even with the vaccine for 10 days when we return and I guess the same is happening and probably will happen with overseas tourists coming here . At the moment everyone is being shoved in a hotel for 10 days with massive fines if they leave the confines of their rooms . Protests are going on about civil liberties. Everywhere is shut and Scotland and Wales more strict than England . I can only travel 5 miles from home . I can only exercise from my front door back to my front door and the only light at the end of the tunnel is I got my hair cut . Funny how little things cheer you up .
19th March 2021

That's great that you have your tunnel booked!
At least you can get that far.
20th March 2021

we spoke too soon
Well - as I write I am listening to the news which is now saying that summer travel will be highly unlikely due to the high levels of Covid in Europe . They are talking about the Autumn now . I feel pretty sure that we will be cancelling our June holiday and moving it to September !!!! The government here are saying that they will stop travel again to prevent us bringing back the variants . I dont know how you will get on with Scotland in August . My feeling listening to the doom and gloom is that we will be on lockdown again with no-one in and no-one out . REally getting fed up with it all now .

Hope springs eternal...
I hope you do get to travel again in June. We are flying to the east coast at the end of April to visit family in Pennsylvania and Connecticut...and ancestors in that area. Scotland at the end of August. I enjoyed reading about you reminiscences!
16th March 2021

hope
Plans we shall make them and see what happens . Hope your trips across the states works out and we dont get locked down again . August sounds a possibility for Scotland . We are possibly opening up slightly in mid April and then see what happens . We are missing travelling so much . The only consolation of not travelling is that we get to do work on the house .

Planning for 2021...
I know how you feel! Last week the venue for my son's wedding cancelled so the weeding is put off to next May as have those expenses. I've booked our flight to Edinburgh on 21 June and hotels where there is no cancellation fee. I am hoping that getting vaccinated (soon I hope) will allow unfettered travel...but I hate having that fear of cancellation hanging over my head. But planning makes me feel better than no planning. I hope you can dust off your previous plans.

travel plans
Hi Bob Sorry to hear about the wedding . Seems like Covid really has put a hold on our lives . Glenn got his first jab at the weekend . His second one won't be due for another 12 weeks which will take us up to middle of May if he is lucky, I am in the next lot so might get my first before the end of this month . But of course I will be quite a few weeks behind him. We are still all locked up and my guess is Scotland will be locked up for some while yet . Nichola Sturgeon is quite strict on lockdowns and I would be very surprised if any international travel will happen until more of us get vaccinated . And then expect ten days quarantine . At the moment that is what is happening here and I cant see much changing for a while . We are doubtful of travel in April /May although you never know might get a British trip if we are lucky. I cannot see unfettered travel happening for a long time . I hope I am mistaken . We are busy with the house so travel feels less important although it is still nagging away at the base of my brain whatever is left of it !!!! Hope you keep safe . My third cousin in Steelville Missouri had her first jab last week She is over 80 .

We hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons LOL. The river has gone down a bit today . Roads still closed . We can get into England at Whitchurch but technically we shouldnt . We are marooned . Snow this morning but it has finally stopped and not stuck . Hope you are OK
