Walks
The blue plant could be Borage? There is a lot of that around at the moment...

Just last week I couldn't fall asleep...
without any reason. It's nice to know other humans have the same problem. Walking Hadrian's Wall has been on my bucket list, but only the sections where there is a wall. I had hoped to add it to my Scotland itinerary in September, but not enough time to do everything. Have you become hooked on walking yet? There are so many wonderful ways in the British Isles; some shorter and some longer.

Thoughts of travel
Trying to just get on with it . How is it where you are ? We hear some horrendous stories about what is going on the USA. Trump fills our news as much as Boris does . Hope you are keeping safe

Sleeping in does make the day feel shorter...
but good for you...to walk despite the weather takes fortitude.

Time to refresh and time to realise
A beautifully penned blog Jennifer.Time to refresh and time to realise what we have and what is important...and of course what is (or is not) ahead in these uncertain times. Time to see what we take for granted and wonder.

thankyou DAve
Thanks Dave - second compliment today . I describe my mind as rambling full of random thoughts . Most of which go off in odd directions . I am enjoying the walks though . Same with photographs . I take photos of very strange things . How are things with you on the other side of the world ? We dont hear that much - its more about Spain , Italy and the USA . Keep safe .

Travel Insurance
Get a quote from Saga....I think we are insured for 93 days in a year bit they do offer more as well. I found them quite competitive and you can actually talk to a person!!!

insurance
Thought about Saga and were going to ring them . It seems though many at the moment are not taking new business on . We are with LV. I get massive discounts as I am a civil servant and joined what used to be the Civil Service Motoring Association . I pay £19 a year membership which gives me discounts on LV . I have always used them for the two cars until last years when we dropped down to one car as they give me business use acceptable to work . We have the house insurance and buildings with them and also the travel . I honestly am not sure anyone will beat them . The premium last year was £258 or thereabouts . Gone up to £301 this year . Comfort wouldnt go anywhere near that figure . Glenn has prostate problems and I have my cystitis /kidney issues and high blood pressure so added risks although we are both as fit as fiddles. I always say there is more meat on a butchers pencil that I carry . The way we are going we wont get anywhere , anytime soon . I may be going back to work next week . There is overtime by the bucketload but I dont want any of it . I sent a message to my manager on Wednesday and she was going to contact me yesterday . Yes you guessed it she didnt . She might today as they are all working I think. If not I will have to speak to her Tuesday and see what protection they will give me. I keep banging the "I am 68 you know and Glenn 73 "card . Comes in handy sometimes . Trouble is I am fitter than most at work and they know it !!!!!! xx

Swimming...
I prefer to swim the backstroke. I look at the trusses to let me know when I am getting close to the end of a lap. Hang in there!

Backstroke
I swim a mixture of breast stroke and back although I prefer backstroke . More relaxing . However I did have a problem in St Quentin at Christmas . The pool was fantastic once I had found a way of sign language between the non English speaking staff and myself . I got in the small laned pool and set off backwards only to keep swimming into the sides . I was following the lines on the ceiling without realising the pool was not a long rectangle . It was off set against the ceiling so when I started at the bottom in the right place by following the ceiling I was never going to end up in a straight line at the other end . The lifeguards must have found it amusing to see this swimmer clearly going from the middle of the lane to the left and hitting the side every time . I soon realised backstroke was not going to work and reverted to breast stroke . Just to prove I could swim in a straight line .

Lockdown!
We are out of self isolation tomorrow - and I have just had an email from Sainsburys that only one of us is allowed to go shopping! I never thought we would be fighting over who is going to go grocery shopping!! Have a look online for Joe Wickes - The Body Coach - he does a lot of 20 minute workouts with 30 mins exercise and 30 mins rest! Something to suit everyone!! Today I am planting peas in pots, cleaning conservatory and sorting washing out - may treat myself to doing a jigsaw or reading a book after we have been to the allotment for our exercise!! Oh for travelling! I dont think we will make it to Amsterdam this year for the tulips and Japan looking doubtful also!! Stay safe! xxx

Out of isolation
Welcome to freedom as good as it gets !!! Joe Wickes is brilliant . We are developing a mad routine each day but I do miss my swimming . Thought my hair might have improved without the chlorine wash every day but it still feels awful . Glenn has planted peas and beans and we are doing jigsaws on line . I get my walk in the quiet of the morning . But oh Gabby does look lonely out there . We really wanted to give the lithium battery a good try out . I have just talked to my daughter who is now on Easter Holidays from school . She has a theory that they wont go back until after the May bank holiday when there will be six week left of school . If another round of Coronavirus picks up again she says the lockdown will come again just right for the summer holidays . I suspect she could be right . What a shame that holidays are being messed up. I would love to see the cherry trees in Japan . At the moment I have our tunnel trip rebooked for September - looks like Greece if we can get away probably going by land rather than sailing from Ancona . Christmas fancy France again - maybe north coast and take in what we missed this year or even into Brittany . Glenn fancies Alsace and the Christmas markets . xx

Zen!
My sisters grandson who lives in USA is called Zen River!! lol! different!! I week in self isolation left - I think we have enough food to last the week! Apart from shopping for ourselves I don't expect life to be much different!! Im planning on staying in all of the summer - apart from garden and allotment. Not sure we will make it out to Spain this year either!! Watch this space!! Hope you are surviving well too? I find it quite relaxing to just ...well...stop...I suppose! x

Zen
Glenn laughs at me with my blogs and my quotations . Think he thinks I am a little bit crazy. Countdown begins for you. It is surreal out of there in the world . Dont see many out on my morning walks . I can hear the birds and the silence . Air smells nice too. No longer diesel and cars . Went for BP test this morning . For the first time in years my BP has gone up - too much coffee I think , Will have to contain myself . Blood test done - just waiting for results . Might take all week to get them . Not that I am worrying too much . Whats the worse ? Work can sack me and being the government what a story that would be . LOL I think we will all have the best gardens all this gardening , Here were we all looking forward to our last year abroad before Brexit kicks in . x

Zen
I love a bit of Zen = I think as I have got older I have become an atheist but I do like a bit of philosophy . I love my rip a day off at a time calendar . Its the first thing I read in the morning . Hopefully you are still coping coming towards the end of isolation. xx

Well said...
My main concern right now is for our economy and all those who have lost their jobs, perhaps never to get them back. We are less concerned with Covid-19 as the numbers seem to put it in the same range as the common cold and flu. By practicing social distancing and washing hands we hope to avoid viruses. Our governor has ordered all residents of Colorado to lock down, stay in place, self quarantine, etc., but we are still allowed to shop for groceries, see the doctor, go to the pharmacy, walk our dogs, etc. One hardly knows what the limits are other than few stores are open. Linda, I and our dog takes rides in the country as were do not get out of the car...our interpretation of the above order. In any case, our police are not enforcing these rules. So, let's all dream of our next trips! Stay safe...
