Today is quiet day with only picking up our new Peugeot 3008 and driving to Terracina, about 120km from the Leonardo Di Vinci Airport. I am sure all of you reading this will have already experienced driving in Italy, but it is just the same as driving in India. 1 lane road is easy for 2 cars wide and the sign post says 90km speed limit but some drivers do 130km. All safe and sane we arrive in Terracina, a small town in the coast. After an ice cream on the beach, we drive up into the hills to our BnB for the night. Greg & I have become real tourist, hop-on-hop of buses, great amounts of walking, queues and long lunches. Rome is a wonderful city with so much history and art. Today we saw some of the classic Rome sights Piazza Venezia, Altare della Patria, Fontana Di Trevi and Piazza di Spagna. Unfortunately, the Spanish steps are under renovations but we found many other steps to climb... doh. We spent the afternoon doing a guided tour of the Colosseum and history of Rome – We had Rob, a wonderful Archaeologist student guide us through the beautiful Colosseum and to think they invented so much that we have today – lifts, stadium roofs and bottled sweat as an aphrodisiac.
