Bolarks' Guestbook

1st June 2013

Sad really that some are having so much fun on the big trip and I have to keep up on a bloody computer from home. It just makes me more determined to do an around Aust trip. I am not complaining just a little jealous. Things are busy here with training and I have been away quite a lot of late but its not the same when work is involved. I am off again tomorrow this time Holly is coming with me so we get 2 nights in Mulwala together. hj: oh oh this sounds like my Trans Siberian trip is on the back burner... I will have to see if I can find some of the photos I had of the Gibb River road in 1979. Sounds seriously different! Enjoy

Real Travelling Nomads
We really enjoyed your latest post. You certainly are giving us a true account of wandering thru the outback. It's been an eventful leg of your journey with much more to come - PLEASE ??? Disposing of THE MUD will be an 'All Hands on Deck' operation. The Van & Brutus are doing everything right. Petrol @ $2:40 per litre would have been hard to swallow. Looking forward to the next chapter & photos. Thanks again. Safe & happy travels. Rob & Barbara

Late comment
Hi there, sorry it has taken so long to pass comment but after many years of trying to convince the husband he would really like the computer, he has succumbed but alas I've created a monster, he managed to max out the usage so that I have been on major slowdown for the last two weeks. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time and it must have been nice to catch with old friends, love the boys, looking forwrd to next blog, hope everything continues to sail on smoothly. We are all good here. Cheers Lynley

Its Raining - Its Pouring
Wondering if you have left Kununurra yet? Judy rang a while ago to say that the Gibb River Road may be a bit too wet for you for a day or two. Rain pouring down in the area. ????? Thanks for another fab blog post. We love it when the notification arrives informing us you have posted a new one, its kettle on time & sit down to read it. Nearly time to catch up with Shirley & Dave - how exciting. Keep rollin' along.

Loving Sharing your Journey
Have been following your tales with great interest and commenting along the way. for some reason my posts are not accepted, so this one is really just to see if I get past censor or not. Take care and journey well. I will keep reading even if I can't let you know how much I am enjoying it all.

I am the censor!
That got through Carol, The comments do not appear on the website until I have reviewed them and accepted them for publication. This is an issue when you are without internet for a long period of time. This is about to happen because the big adventure of the Gibb River Road begins today - yippee

What bird is this

what bird is this
we looked in our book and think it could be a Black Kite just going off the wing colour where it is darker, the other bird again going off the length of tail could be a Wedge Tail Eagle. loved the photos of Jasper Gorge it looks lovely, we were in Mataranka 1989 and 1992 it was really nice then, look forward to your next blog.

Sooo jealous!!!!
We are so jealous, we are so pleased you having a great time, yes the humidity is terrible I hated it but all the good days you have you soon forget about the heat.

Dunmarra
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary having dinner at the roadhouse there. The owner, Gary, shouted us a bottle of champagne (well, bubbly). Very nice guy. The bull was there then too! Glad you're having a good time, pity about the flies and heat though.

Good to hear from you
Hard to imagine you two sweating away in the van when we are waking to frosty mornings and have the heating on from sundown. Interesting about the packed campsites. We were told at Rose Hill by the NT Tourist folk that all the questions this year were about the Savannah Way, and by others that the Nullarbor rest stops are standing room only from about 3:30. Obviously too many of us retired Babyboomers on the road this year!

Congratulations
Hey guys, hope your having a great time and enjoying yourselves. We have the positions Chris, you are now the backbone of the YBC and me the leader! All went rather well there was a vote as expected 9 to 5. One person had to have a comment, no guessing who and was expected. Dork! Into second volume of Game of Thrones (5 to go) very enjoyable. I am off to the Riverland next week for 5 days of glorious golf and plenty of red vino! Will up-date on return. Cheers, Wayne PS. Special surprise for Wookie when he's back!!!!

Excellent!!
We are enjoying your reporting and know that feeling of little problems arising on an adventure. It is amazing how you turn into a real 'MacGiver' in solving problems. The boys too seem to be enjoying the trip. I am sure they will tend to be naughty once in a while. Onto the bumper with them!!! Great photos and great narration of the trip. We look forward to the next installment. Love to you both...

Great to hear from You
Excellent writing & photos. You thought you had done the whole shakedown tour.......now a flying stone has come out of the blue. Just proves that you can carry everything you think you will need and the bit you left behind is the bit you need. Look forward to the next episode from Katherine. I just remembered the caravan park I was discussing with Graham was the "Lower Level caravan park" it is on Victoria Hwy on the way out of town towards Kununurra. There are two parks out that way it is the second one and off the highway, it cannot be seen from the highway. We absolutely recommend it.

What an adventure you are having hope you sort out the van and have everything in the right place. The bull dust is shocking gets everywhere, experienced the bull dust years ago in Alice in the early 1970's, went out white came back brown looked like i had a sun tan. Look forward to next Blog.
