Bolarks' Guestbook

Gosh you find some fascinating places
Cummings which I had never heard of throws up some interesting features. Low Wattle ? I presume that means Low Growing, does it spread across the ground & bloom, if so what colour? Are the walls you are describing the dry build stone ones ? Looking at the photo of Eyre's Waterhole, seems to show the dry build style that we see in the English TV shows of Location Location & Escape to the Country. We also remarked on them as we were driving thru somewhere or other, just cant remember where or when...2007 before we had the van we think. Love the photo of the Lake Hamilton Eating House, Iconic Oz building in just the right setting, hope it will always be preserved as is. The roadside Lake, is it just that, or part of the Ocean enclosed by rock & of course the coastal land ?? A different Robbie has emerged from his surgery, spending a lot of his time reading, with Classical music playing quietly in the background. Normally he would make a loaded comment about MY musical choices when I'm listening to it, should I worry about him. NUH!! Found John Wayne movie last evening, so all remains normal. We spend a couple of hours a day down on the beautiful Pumicestone Passage relaxing & walking, he loves being down there as do I. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful piece of Australia to retire to. We take our picnic lunch. We also spend time at Woorim Beach sitting & walking in the warm sunshine looking out towards Morteon Island waiting for the Whales as they pass between that Island and ours. He is walking a little further each day. Lyn returned to Perth yesterday.

plough
That plough looks like the one at Brinkworth museum that was also used for road-making.

Judy always asks for rain
Send it all their way. You have struck a horrid patch of weather. Fish & chips are OK as long as you order grilled not battered. Also half serve of choppers. Was the Van cold again or have you added a truma diesel heater? Keep on keeping on & enjoying it. The Humpbacks were passing thru the Gold Coast on Monday. Hope there were plenty of mums birthing & some new calves for you to view at Head Of The Bite. Cheers Barbara & Robbie.

rain
The rain is coming from WA! There are now only 8 Southern Wrights at the Head of the Bight. Not sure if we will go in or not. Close to $1 a whale.

Bird ID
Hi Chris. Your "pied cormorant" is actually a White-faced Heron. Its a pretty good, clear shot so I'm 100% sure of my ID :)
26th May 2014

Worth it
See, it's worth it to have people around you who know stuff. I don't have to spend so much time doing identifications. That's my excuse, but I must admit I did not use my bird books.

Erythrocorys
Chris are you sure that tree is an erythrocorys? As far as I can remember an erythrocorys (common name Bishop's mitre ) has a bright red cap beneath the yellow flowers. They also tend to be quite very untidy growers and can droop all over the place. Will do a little checking. Judy

Darn Sure
Yep, the bright red caps fall off when the flower opens and little the ground under neath the tree. At first the flowers are perfect and gorgeous and as they age they go shaggy.

Your trip
Hi to you both, Fitzgerald Bay and Yeldulknie look beautiful. What a difference at Yeldulknie. Glad you're enjoying the lime butter.....not. I remembered another nice way to eat lemon butter, that's on pikelets with cream. The pizza looked good too. That reminds me I must call the Black Sheep, I think it's called, in Burra. Hope to go there for dinner for Chris's birthday tomorrow night ( birthday actually tomorrow, dinner tomorrow night) Glad to hear all went well with Robert. Bye for now , Sally xx

Beautiful Colour
That lavendar colour is The Leshanaultia Blue of the WA wild flower of the same name, I know this Chris 'cos our Mother dressed me up as a Leshaultia for an end of year school concert. She made the costume from blueeeyee crepe paper & wire. Now all we need is for Alan to tell us the correct spelling of the name. Cheers. We are home by the way. All we'll. barbara

Flower ID
Hi folks. Your blue flower is Wahlenbergia (native Bluebell) and the ones with coloured berries look like Rhagodia parabolica although I've not seen the yellow berry version before. I'm enjoying your travels from the comfort of home :) Cheers Anne

Home front
Hi, Glad to see things are now starting to turn out well for you. The cat is happy. As I said, she is sitting on my knee, when I give her little or no room to sit beside me. She is also sleeping on my bed - when she feels like it. Wants a lot of scratching but does a lot of loud purring when she is scratched. I have been presented with, accompanied by praise from me and an awful lot of loud mewing from her, two mice, which she promptly ate. Everything is fine at the house. No problems or dramas to report. Cameron is coming over this afternoon (Friday 23rd). He came with his parents last Friday too. Joined Brinky link-up. Went to "big afternoon tea" at the primary school yesterday. Met some nice people. That is about it. Enjoy your trip. Andrew

Peaceful
Sounds like you are having a restful time. Perhaps you overdo the first 6 months and need the next to recover? Strangely while the Centre is soggy, we are unseasonably dry. Re veggies: have you tried parboiling then oiling up and sticking in the Webber? Works for spuds.

News
it all sounds wonderful! Have just finished 10 tea cosies for the Biggest Morning Tea on Mon 26th at Normas Cafe Brinkworth. They are funky and colourful and a laugh! Great times at Skiiagolee --- Pauls daughter, husband and baby Skarlett came for Gourmet weekend as it was their wedding anniversary. Beautiful weather here but need rain again. Cheers and love -- keep safe --- Sue

Tracker
We talked to him via radio. Also great excitement in our car we saw for the first time another Desert Sky van which went past us heading north between Coober Pedy and Glendambo. A Warrior.

Whoops- that wasn't supposed to happen
Back again, fat fingers was the culprit. I didn't go into the town at Woomera, R did, I stayed in the van park cleaning up after having failed to lock the little pantry door prior to leaving Pt Augusta. I will go to the coffee shop next time.

Happy Trails to you
Just a thought, perhaps you could also record the sayings written on the 'wicked' campervans, some of them are quite good. I thought you were going to say that if Chewie became too obnoxious you would leave him somewhere. Look forward to your next blog and starting to turn pale green, soon to be bright green.

Have a great trip
Whatever else, don't camp at Warburton. Our 4WDC mates are off this weekend on the Maralinga trip which my back didn't allow me to go on. Sooo jealous. Of all of you.
