Well the adventure has truly begun now. I actually managed to get to sleep at a relatively decent hour - 11pm! What makes that even more amazing is that I fell asleep instantly. Pity it didn’t last. I woke up at 1am, 2:30am and again at 3:45! I then stayed awake until my alarm went off at 4:50. That is a silly o’clock time - not a time I like to see very often, but one I feel that I am going to see a lot of over the next 6 months. Everyone was up and ready to go by 6am - pretty impressive. HB was very keen to get going, although she said she didn’t like silly o’clock times (and in fact any hour in the morning has now become silly o’clock). The 1st new ... read more

Well here it is! The day everyone loves or dreads - the day before the you go! Like Christmas Eve, it is always the longest day ever! Full of worry about what you have forgotten. I have already managed to forget my bra that you can change the strapes on to make them see though or halter. It may not seem a big thing but it is to me. Half my tops and dresses require me to wear that bra. Ugh. I swear I packed it. Stupid thing. So my packing is done - except my last few bits and bobs that I need tomorrow morning. Woo hoo, and it only took 7 days to do! Oh the pfaff (Owain you would be soooooo proud of me). I was given a stack of paper the other ... read more

It was the middle of the night and all was silent. Huggie Bug and Anita were tucked up in their beds dreaming of the adventure they had had with the zip and the shoelace. The light of the moon shone through a gap in the curtain and landed on the zip and the shoelace. It was so bright that it woke them up. They decided to wriggle free and go looking for an adventure. They had to go very quietly so that they didn’t wake the sleeping girls. Zip and Shoelace crawled through a tiny hole in the window and jumped down to the gound. They looked around deciding which way to go. Should they go into the dark woods or should they turn right and go into the city. Hmm what a decision to make. ... read more

One snowy Wednesday, Huggie Bug and Anita were sitting in a doctor’s room. WHEN, all of a sudden Huggie Bug’s shoe zip and Anita’s shoelace ran away! Oh dear! ‘How will we be able to take off our shoes!’ How will we get them back?’ They cried. They saw their zip and shoelace run out of the building and down someone’s chimney. Huggie Bug and Anita decided to run after them. Huggie Bug and Anita chased the zip and the shoelace to the house and knocked on the door. ‘Hello?’ The lady said, ‘can I help you?’ ‘Yes,’ said Anita ‘has a zip and a shoelace come down your chimney?’ ‘Oh yes. Would you like to get them?’ ‘Yes please, thank you.’ Huggie Bug and Anita ran inside and started to climb up the chimney. There ... read more

Well today we were meant to start our travels, but the depature date had been moved until Monday. It had been changed before I arrived. So only 3 more sleeps! Oooooo Im so excited . Today was a rather fun day, HB and I went into the very pretty village of Königstein. It was the German equivalent of the English chocolate box villages. It was so pretty, with very traditional buildings, narrow cobbled roads and lots of snow. I tell you - I am totally over the snow part! Bring on the next 6 months of Summer! Anyway we were had gone into the village to get her her own travel dairy. We looked at quite a few but, in the end, said her heart wanted the pink one. Well there is a surprise! Well, getting to Heathrow was a bit of a challenge. I had to swipe one of those bell hop type baggage carts to get my luggage from my room to the bus stop just out the back of the hotel. At 7.20 in the morning there was already a huge crowd waiting for the bus. Whoopty doda. It was freezing outside and I think I lost all feeling in my toes while I waited. Once the bus turned up the mob mentality took over the group. Everybody wanted to get onboard that bus (including me). I had slightly resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn’t be able to get on that bus. If I could have I would have taken the luggage trolley with me, but alas I think the hotel would have had something ... read more

Well this is it, I have been left at Heathrow airport at The Premier Inn. Which by the way is a nice hotel. Tomorrow I should be on my way to Frankfurt! Well, I should be, if the snow doesn't disrupt anything. I managed to get everything done that I needed to, but it was a little frantic at times. I was meant to be coming back up to London from Devon on Wednesday but the snow got in the way of those plans. So I stayed in Devon and came back up on the Friday with the family in the car. That is a story in itself, but it is no longer important. Well, the main repercussion from this was that my vaccination book was now up in London where I wasn't, and I wasn't ... read more

Well I am into the final countdown! It is all rather exciting, but at the same time very scary. Obviously I am going to miss my family and friends but what is scary is going out into the unknown - starting a new job is always the same, but here I have no idea where I will be going half the time or what I will be doing, and that’s what is scary - not being in control. Looking at it from a different view though - what an adventure it will be, waking up each day not knowing what to expect and just going with the flow. I am almost packed. That is the hardest part. Knowing what to take, and how much. My new boss has said that it is fine for me to ... read more

I have learnt over the years, and especially while working with children, that sometimes it is better not to say anything, because if you do it will no doubt get you into more trouble. Well I had one of these moments yesterday in the car while being driven to the station by my bosses husband. Lets just say he didn't take the news of my leaving too well, and as I said in a previous message it took him all of 10 days to actually talk to me. Well for the last 3 days I was down in the Country with them (which was, by the way, as dull as a very blunt object), so he kind of had to talk to me. Well on the 5 minute drive to the station, he suddenly said 'i ... read more

Well Friday was a mixed day. The last of the children finished school and so the family took off down to their house in the Country for the holidays. So it was the last time I would cook the 3 youngest any meals there, or get them up, or put them to bed, or more importantly, it was the last time that I would EVER have to pack them off for a journey. I HATE HATE HATE getting them ready for a journey. I always ask the day before or in the morning 'what time would you like to leave by?' and what ever the answer is the 4 children are always ready and in the car at the time stated. But there is always pfaff and they never leave on time. It usually ends up ... read more
